Thanks Bro. I initially tried this music app called Deezer. I played a song and I got the error, which only went after I rebooted the device. I tried Lark player as well and the same thing happened. Offline music players work just fine. Can you kindly install one of these apps and try it out? I'll keep troubleshooting from my end here as well

I use Deezer on my RN5....it works flawlessly. Maybe it has to do with your MIUI version. I'm on 9.5.19

To set it to 3g only, dial *#*#4636#*#* and select phone information, them select wcdma

I'm presently on 9.5.6 and the only issue is that the phone sometimes stops ringing out when I receive calls. This I resolve by restarting the phone.
I read this issue is fixed on 9.5.19 version.
But I read negative reviews about this particular version.
