Education / Re: Kogi State University Medical Students Protest Over Accreditation by stred: 3:56pm On Apr 16, 2018
officialviaj:
I am a kogi state university medical student. I got admitted to study medicine in 2012 and for the past 6years I have been in 300level, we have been hearing stories from both the government and the school, "that we are working on it", "we should read our books". We have stagnated and suffered emotionally. I weep daily!. The last governor of kogi state Governor Idris Wada, instead of upgrading the secondary health facility in the university village(kogi state diagnostic hospital in anyigba) to a teaching hospital he went and started his own pet project (build a new hospital from the scratch) which he didn't complete, it's now an abandoned project. The new Governor of the state, Governor Yahaya Bello set up a committee for accreditation of the college of medicine and for the past 4years he has been in power I tell you my reader no block has been laid, and I don't know if I would graduate in the next 10years. Some medical students have even threaten to commit suicide because of the humiliation and frustration. We are frustrated and our parents are in pains.... Help share this post as much as possible let people know about our plight.

hello. Some kogi students transferred to my school. Theyre now in 200 and they've blended quickly. I thought it was compulsory for everyone to leave

Pls Docs in the house, if any one with useful advice here will be highly appreciated. Am a 100 level medical student in Edo university Iyamho but my school is very expensive(1.5m per year) so am considering the option of transferring to unimed in ondo state or unimaid Maiduguri in second year, so if any one here know how the process of transferring to these two versities is done I will appreciate.
the inter university university transfer works quite well if you're applying to unimed.

I am applying for jamb and i am thinking of putting Unimed and I'm from anambra so I'm asking whether it's a safe choice
try your luck. If you get a course like biochemistry or anatomy. Accept it. you can cross in 200l provided you reach up to 4.5.

Modified. Basically if you get any course apart from Physiotherapy, Nursing and you applied for MBBS. You can always cross but I'll tell you 4.5 in this school is not easy

All are from Gsmarena. Don't feel bad that you didn't know more than half of them. I already said they were hard to tell apart.

Na you come do know it all. Pele. cry
I still don't get your sudden interest in xiaomi phones. You're up to something bad. I just know it

Does unimed accept Ijmb as direct entry to medicine?
yes. But 13 points and above. The D.E in my set are mainly ijmb. Tho some are transfer students

consider the fact that OAU is a federal university while UNIMED is a state university.

if you are considering ease of admission, well, you might go for UNIMED.

i have not been to the teaching hospitals of both schools, so i can't attest to state of equipment.
maybe other bosses can contribute to this sha.
I'm a medical student in unimed and I can tell you our facilities are good to be honest. The medical village is our teaching hospital. We just don't have teaching hospital, we have teaching hospitals. On the verge of admission, just get above 80% and pick it as first choice from the beginning

Health / Re: 38,000 Nigerian Doctors Are Working In The Diaspora- Eko University Of Medicine by stred: 7:58am On Jan 12, 2018

Saddening!
Btw I am really glad Nigeria is liberalising Higher Education. We now have a Private University in Lagos only committed to Medicine, a Private University in Tinapa to focus on Marine/Naval Archi/Ship Building-this is definitely the way to go.

If we can't maximally fund education and research then we should allow the private bodies take up that responsibility-it is a Win-Win for Nigeria; More Jobs, More NGO funding on Research, More spaces for students in Nigeria.
and a state university committed to medicine

Smiles, this might be coming too late. You are probably in the dissecting room now. It's okay to feel nervous and scared. I would say it is the norm. However, the fear and nervousness starts to dissipate as you get close touch the bodies. You wont pass out. You will be fine.
I've done it. It was really cool to be honest. We were taught the pectoral region. I have a hard time learning the names now. Any help?
