The problem with people like you is that you think too lowly of people's intelligence. Russia may be sponsoring its own propaganda just like every other country but you are overlooking a very powerful factor: truth.

Let me use myself as an example. Back when I paid little attention to international politics, I always assumed that USA and its allies were the good guys because they allowed free speech, independent courts, periodic voting, gave many poor countries aids, etc unlike their enemies. I thought their barbaric military adventures in the Middle East were necessary because Muslims were blowing themselves up in all parts of the world and killing innocent people. It was when I picked interest in world history and came across America's atrocities in Southern America that my eyes opened. Mind you, we are not talking about unverified claims like the CIA being responsible for 911 or some other allegations. We are talking about concrete history that even Western sources do not deny and have even reported themselves.

I can beat my chest and say that Russia doesn't have the capacity to beat the USA in a PR war in Africa or anywhere else. It's just that more and more people are seeing western nations the way they truly are and with Russia being just about the only country that can stand up to their madness, they are winning the love of millions of people around the world. I find it disrespectful that you are calling Kenyan youths ignorant for standing up to their rulers amd reducing their legitimate grievances to petty international politics.
