People say I’m judgemental, lacking empathy, not humble and am too harsh/direct. It really hurts, how can I be a better person?
Someone just told me that I am too direct and it’s a complete turn off. I’ve heard this a lot in my life from others but I never took their advice because I would look at them and think well they aren’t perfect either. But since she's said it, it's finally resonated within me and I'm so completely ashamed. I've just had a big flashback of all the times where I've been a c*** but didn't realised and blamed out or felt sorry for myse

I was shy when I was younger and I think in the process of trying to be more extraverted I’ve completely over-compensated and become someone people don’t want to be around. A lot of the time I get way too nervous and talk too loud/long and I don’t even know nor connect with what I’m saying. A part of me when I’m speaking is thinking “why are you acting like this?” or I would say something really stupid that I don’t even believe in and someone will shut me down and I would totally agree with them but I just couldn’t stop myself at the time and then I feel silly and like a phoney and like a child. I will really like to be a better person. It’s a shame because I know deep down I am a really solid person. And the people that really know me (very few) know I’d do anything for them and I have a lot to offer. I’ve just built this weird lame façade to get on in the world even though it wasn’t/hasn’t been working for me. I want to be a better person, who enriches people’s lives and asks nothing in return. If anyone knows what I’m talking about would greatly appreciate your feedback..
