I can understand your frustration.
Because cultism and even homosexuals are common in other parts of nigeria (im not saying there isn't in hausa land)

My point is u might be right in some aspect coz I can agree with you on the "CULT" part.

But lets face the fact.

CultureWhat Women Do – Tales Of Ibadan Amazons by Tabspear(op): 11:57pm On Sep 23, 2014
In this era, you are probably used to the alien tales of Margaret Thatcher, the first female Prime Minister of England, Joan of Arc(Jeane ‘D Arc) a lady who led the French armies to great victories during the 100 years of war in France or the Greek Amazons so beautiful but cut half of their breasts to facilitate archery. The Greek Amazons were trained to use virtually all weapons; they were honourable, courageous and brave. They resided in their female dominated kingdom Amazonomachies in Athens defended themselves and defeated large armies. Infact, the tales of their valour spread wide to a large extent that the Amazon River in South America was named after them. Courageous ladies do not only reside in Europe, history has recorded a lots of them Africa without excluding the Ibadan Amazons.

Ibadan is a land of rich war history, as it begun as a home for refugees and displaced individuals. It is a city that have housed countless warriors. Warriors like of Ogunmola, Oluyole, Aare latosa and Ibikulne who were instrumental in curtailing the expansion of the Fulani Jihad at Ikirun after the then Oyo capital Ilorin was seized were from Ibadan. There was a time in history when Lagelu, a great warrior from Ife settled in the area and due to his influence he became the Leader. After a short while the settlement began to witness advancement in terms of prosperity and progress and it was said that Lagelu prayed to the Yoruba god (Olodumare) before settling and requested for long life, good health, and good husbands for his children as they are all females and blessing upon the traders. Due to his growing influence he was decorated the Aare Ona KanKanfo of the Yoruba army. With his position he hosted an Egungun festival that year and a taboo happened during the festival, the costume of a masquerade fell with children and women present, thus desecrated the san.....http://www.horizonia.net/what-women-do-tales-of-ibadan-amazons/

CultureRe: The Hausa And Cults- A Strange Occult by Tabspear(op): 7:04am On Sep 22, 2014
Fulaman198: Yes, that's correct. I think they too became Muslim because Wangara clerics from Mali brought Islam to the Yorubas in a peaceful manner.
Islam came to the Yoruba land in the 16th century. Some Christian Scholars try to downplay its existence and claim it came in to the Yoruba territories in the close of the 18th century.
CultureRe: The Hausa And Cults- A Strange Occult by Tabspear(op): 7:00am On Sep 22, 2014
Fulaman198: This isn't necessarily true. The Hausa people were Muslims long before we Fulani came to Nigeria. The Hausa were Muslims between the 11th and 12th centuries.
Yes but the Islam they practiced was mixed with syncretism and vast Hausa people were idolaters. There was a limited amount of pure Muslims.
CultureThe Hausa And Cults- A Strange Occult by Tabspear(op): 11:20pm On Sep 20, 2014
You must have been submersed in the today’s view of the Hausa, as they are seen as heralds of the religion of Islam. Were their ancestors truly holy and not filthy? The emir of Kano is not an Hausa rather a Fulani, the Fulanis were one of the leading nomads that islamised the Hausa and in 1805 established the Sokoto Caliphate after defeating the Hausa(Sarkis) kings in their decisive battles of revivalism. Before the conquests, the Hausas were animists and had a distinctive demonic occcult popularly known as the Bori cult.

The Bori cult is indeed popular in many Hausa states and at one time a state art in Kano. The ideology of the Bori cult is to communicate with demons, some people have termed it spiritual communication, and however the practices of the cultists are far from ordinary animism. The cult is an extremely feared cult with its heads as Sarkin Bori and Magagiyar Bori, but its generally overseen by the king’s sister, Sarikin Inna. The Inna is held in usually feared due to the amount of powers she possesses and has the prerogative of mercy regarding criminals. It is dominated by females called the Karuwai and few males popularly known as Yan daudu. They are known to sing and engage in occultic dances. Owing to the nature of the society then, females were considered as possessions as they do not take part in the political and economic arena, the Bori cult became a resort to a number of them.

The Karuwais are prostitutes as the name implies, while the Yan daudus are males, who adopt female mannerisms to the extent of wearing wrappers and are homosexuals, transsexuals and transvestites. If a Yan daudu cohabits with a male partner, he would have to be paid in money and clothes. They also have kinds of sex with the Kurawais and aromatic conversations with erotic lore. The women have no dress code thus they walked bare breast...www.horizonia.net
PoliticsWhat Do You Think? by Tabspear(op): 10:53pm On Sep 14, 2014
Do you know in Chattigarh state in India, children as low in age as 5, who lost their breadwinners are allowed to work for the police force? These kids earn averagely $70 which is just #11500 to provide for their families monthly. Inspite of the hue and wails of the human rights groups, I seem to appreciate the doggedness by their mothers; who though sorrowful, encourage their children to resume work every morning. The work they do basically is to carry files and serve tea. This attitude depicts the high moral standards and responsibility assumed by that society.

In my country of touts, Nigeria, the poverty rate is above average with India far below with the poverty rate of just 29.8 percent according the index mundi. However here, parents would rather take to panhandling than working to sustain their families, competent youth would prefer to engage in stealing, fraud, corruption and dependency. Our society has become so abashed that the supposed puritian educational institutions reek with such youth. The moribund Nigerian society is a dynastic chain from decayed fathers to treacherous youth and hopeless babies.

One morning in the middle of May 2014, my curiosity to understand the lawlessness cascading Nigerians led to the second strange public slap I received. It was at Oshodi, my mother sent me on an errand to my sister at Egbeda in Lagos. I trotted out of my house, walked to the busstop and took a bus going to Oshodi. When I got to Oshodi, it was bustling as usual, I walked hurriedly toward the railway, as the horn of train echoed in my ears, I took a deep breath to wait to view it. It’s been a while I saw one. As I imagined seeing a neat train as shown on Lagos state television, an uncomely sight overwhelmed me, men and children stood on a moving train. Taken by the sight I decided to take pictures with my Techno F7, Click! Click! I received a sounding slap from behind. With a shock I tried to speak but the Englishes I learnt from birth was naught but in vain. The touts then held me and people begun to shout ‘’e file ooo, e je o ma lo oo, omo lo mo ti o ma kan kan’’ it means leave him ooo, let him go, someone else’s child that’s innocent. Immediately a young man told me to run, but my ego wouldn’t let me. What have I done wrong to deserve a slap? Ordinary Nigerians denying fellows their freedom? What is wrong with this country? We lack infrastructure, good transportation and stable power, yet the leftovers by the colonialists to the independent Nigeria are abused. With these thoughts ruminating in me, I walked out of the scene hurried to take a bus to Ikeja along to meet my sister who left Egbeda due to my lateness.

Unanswered questions keep imploding like the heat in boiling water, is the government the problem of our country or its people? What do you think?

EducationThe Winning Essay Of De Montesquieu’s Writing Contest For August 2014. by Tabspear(op):
There is no gainsaying that most Nigerian politicians change political parties unrestrained, with only a handful of politicians remaining with their political parties for a reasonable length of time because of the ideology such parties profess, as contained in their manifesto.
Because of the reign of party harlotry in our political terrain, many people who occupy leadership positions are devoid of any political philosophy to propagate, but only regard identifying with political parties as means of acquiring political power for personal benefit. Likewise, political harlotry has caused many Nigerian electorates to be denied the opportunity of knowing, as well as supporting those politicians who harbour political ideologies favourable to them, during electioneering period.
The most proactive means through which party harlotry can be reduced in the Nigerian political circle, is that political harlotry should be made a punishable offence, and one of the requirements to ensure the continued existence of a political party, is that there should be annual report filed by leaders of political parties with the Independent National Electoral Commission of steps they have taken to propagate the ideologies contained in their respective manifestoes.

PoliticsPDP - The Master Plan by Tabspear(op): 6:22pm On Sep 05, 2014
The didactic nature of the emergence of the All Progressive Congress(APC) in February 2013 gave a glamour of anhydrous hope to Nigerians. In the recent times the hopes are sourer than bitter. Dashed hopes quashed by the founding fathers unsympathetically crumbling the emblems of the party after giving it loads of patronage but why? Why is the altitudinous acclaimed puritic party grappling with political renegades? The gauged answer I guess would be luminescent as you read further.
In my quest to assuage the storms of thoughts blowing as regards the challenges facing the Nigerian opposition party, APC I came across a saying of a philosopher, Aleksander which served as the torch. It says, “if only it were simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds and it was necessary to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the time dwindling good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being, And who is willing to cut a piece of his own heart? this I think begun the problems for APC, the party at the inception had to be created by a merger of three major parties ACN,ANPP,CPC and some faction of APGA to gather strength and further absorb discontent politicians from PDP. This although was questioned by those with moral ideological standards, but it was understood that a prodigal son would have to be accepted with open hands. No one would have thought of PDP having influence on the merger, but it did by making the bond weak through the foment of discord within the party, approaching corrupted weaklings with salivating offers and threats thus creating hypocrites. An instance of hypocrisy is the former governor of Kano Mallam Shekarau, who signed the merger on behalf of ANPP but in no while defected to PDP. Currently he is our new Minister for Education!
APC-PDP
After this PDP was overwhelmed and the ordinary thinking Nigerian would have expected a fall of the party, however the party begun strategic plan by creating more deserters from PDP. The umbrella party threw a teaser by allowing some fake defectors to overwhelm the structure of the party, although some of those defectors were real. The 419 defectors had a primary duty of abusing the minds and distorting the consciousness of APC members. I recall last week I had a talk with a local politician, who was once the chairman of the erstwhile CPC in his local government in Lagos. In the words of Bernard Brecht, the worst illiterate is a political illiterate, he hears nothing sees nothing, and takes no part in political life. He doesn’t seem to know the cost of living, the price of beans, flour, rent, medicine, all depend on political decisions. He prides himself on political ignorance and says he hates politics. He doesn’t know; the slowpoke, that from his political non-participation comes the prostitute, the abandoned child, the robber and worst of all, corrupt politicians, lackeys of exploitative multinational corporations
In a bid to enhance a civil active political participation, seemingly redundant amongst the Nigerian youth, this monthly writing contest was introduced.
The essay would be just 200 words with a reward of 2000Naira worth of airtime of any network of choice to the winner of a month. The theme for this essay is basically politics and culture.
The topic for the month of August 2014 is Party Harlotry in Nigeria, its influence on political ideology.

Education2015 Electoral Integrity Graduate Student Essay Competition by Tabspear(op): 2:46am On Aug 31, 2014
Due to the trend of electoral malpractices,International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA); Electoral Integrity Project (EIP; Harvard University & University of Sydney) have decided to be co-sponsors of the ”INTERNATIONAL IDEA/ELECTORAL INTEGRITY PROJECT AWARD”.

I believe Nigeria is fertile ground for this award as writers would definitely want to partake and comment on the recent electoral anomalies witnessed in Osun and Ekiti States with a possible predict of the 2015 upcoming general elections.

The award will be presented to the author (or authors) of an outstanding graduate student essay written in English based on the paper’s significant contribution to the theory and practice of electoral integrity.

Recent decades have seen growing attempts by the international community and domestic stakeholders to strengthen electoral integrity. Yet their quality remains problematic, with multiple flaws and failures evident throughout the electoral cycle.

The theme for this year’s essay competition is in line with a workshop on electoral integrity held prior to the 2015 APSA annual meeting in San Francisco. This workshop, sponsored by EIP and the APSA Elections, Public Opinion, and Voting Behavior organized section (EPOVB), is titled “What Works? Strengthening Electoral Integrity” and it will explore the following question:
What the most effective policies and types of strategic interventions which rectify common electoral problems and thereby improve the quality of elections?

A wide range of policies are available, including the following types of initiatives:

Legal frameworks: Reforms to constitutions, legal and procedural frameworks governing elections, for example campaign finance reform or the diffusion of gender quota laws designed to produce more inclusive parliaments

Governance: Building the capacity, human resources, and administrative infrastructure of electoral authorities, including training EMB staff, auditing agencies, reform of civilian security forces

Technologies: Implementing electronic and internet voter registration and balloting, the use of surveillance technologies, and the deployment of social media, such as crowd-sourcing

Monitoring: Deploying international electoral observers, domestic election watch NGOs and party observers, using PEI and human rights indicators, and scrutinizing results based on techniques of forensic analysis

Transparency: deploying exit polls, ‘parallel vote’ tabulations, and strengthening campaign news reporting by the independent media

Accountability: improving legal adjudication processes of judicial appeal and parliamentary oversight of electoral authorities

Campaigning: expanding the capacity for candidates and political parties to build grassroots organizations and campaign effectively, exemplified by training in mobilizing networks, fund-raising, public communications, and policy analysis for the pool of aspirants for elected office, for nominated candidates and for elected politicians

Public reform campaigns: Mobilizing political activism by political parties and civic society organizations, opposition boycotts, and peaceful mass demonstrations.

International pressures: Using aid conditionality, international economic sanctions, and diplomatic intermediation

International standards: Strengthening global conventions, treaties, and guidelines on electoral rights in international and regional inter-governmental bodies, especially concerning the lack of appropriate standards for regulating campaign finance and campaign broadcasting,

Evaluation methods: how do we know what works?

Leading multilateral agencies and bilateral donors in the development community have provided technical assistance and have sought to identify ‘best practices’ from case-studies and evaluation reports. Electoral authorities considering new types of intervention have also commissioned consultants to produce applied policy research reports, such as ways to improve comprehensive and accurate voter registers, develop performance indicators, or deploy biometric technologies. A growing body of scholarly research has analyzed the effects of international election monitoring on electoral fraud in polling stations.

Nevertheless, little is known with any confidence about the pros and cons, and the systematic impact of many common types of interventions seeking to address a wide range of problems throughout the whole electoral cycle. That is why this year’s essay competition welcomes papers addressing these and other related policy relevant issues.

Method: Essays can be based on any methods, including cross-national comparisons, case-studies, field and lab experiments, public and elite surveys, formal theory, content analysis, analysis of Big Data, and participant observation studies. Applicants can be from any social science discipline.

Application instructions: Papers are welcome from students enrolled in a graduate program (at Masters Level, Doctoral Level, or equivalent) at any time from 1 January to 31 December 2014 at an accredited university, regardless of gender, age, nationality, race, ethnicity, or citizenship.

To be considered, all applications must include:

A paper written in English should be between 25 to 50 double-spaced pages, inclusive of reference matter;
A cover page listing all the authors, contact details, title and a short 100 word abstract;
A curriculum vitae; and,
A photocopied document demonstrating your student affiliation during 2014.

Co-authored papers will be considered for the award, but only if all authors were graduate students during 2014. The winning paper will be selected by a three-person award committee.

Submissions must be received by 1 January 2015. The award recipient will be notified by 1 March 2015.

Award details: The author (or authors) of the winning paper will receive an award of $750 and a further award (up to US$1,000) for the costs of attending the award ceremony at an international meeting. The 2015 award will be presented at the American Political Science Association annual meeting in San Francisco, CA, 2 September 2015. The award recipient will also have the opportunity to present their paper at a relevant policy-makers conference (to be determined in consultation with International IDEA).

PoliticsIs Ribadu Deceiving Nigerians ? by Tabspear(op): 9:36am On Aug 22, 2014
It was a day dream, a day i hoped never came to pass, a day i can describe as one of my most shocking moments as a
passive active player in Nigerian politics. The rumour has been rife
at an alarming rate for weeks, infact the reports of meetings and
counter meetings have been tiring, at a point i prayed so hard
silently that this nemesis never came to pass.
Alas, on Sunday 17th August 2014, the news spread like wildfire,
national and international news agencies alike broke the news, the
social media was agog with the shocker of the moment, it was now crystal clear that the former presidential candidate of the now
defunct Action Congress of Nigeria A.C.N, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has finally decamped from the opposition All Progressives Congress A.P.C,to the ruling People’s Democratic Party P.D.P to contest the 2014 Adamawa gubernatorial election.
As a keen observer of the Nigerian political terrain for years now,
the decamping of Nigerian politicians from one party to the other Is
no more news and is always not surprising as we have seen ridiculous decampings in recent years, but sincerely speaking i was astonished by this, may be because of the track record of Ribadu, or because i supported and campaigned for him vigorously in the build up to the 2011 presidential election, it’s so shocking because this is the first time if i am not mistaken a politician will decamp when the party needs him most.....www.horizonia.net

PoliticsDe Montesquieu Monthly Writing Contest by Tabspear(op): 7:04am On Aug 22, 2014

Foreign AffairsTHE HERMIT Kingdom-an Uncommon Culture by Tabspear(op): 1:23am On Aug 04, 2014
Previously I wrote on the history of the Hermit Kingdom, its many life lines and the severe occurrences that caused its split to South and North. Since it’s quite episodic, getting a grasp of the past series on the Hermit Kingdom is crucial, I therefore advise that we visit this link to my website, www.horizonia.net and read them. Today’s episode would be focused primary on the uncommon and beautiful culture of the hermits in their Kingdom and beyond.
A few months back, the world saluted the Korean Prime minister for resigning from his position. This was caused they by a ferry mishap which lead the death of school children. Only but a few did realize that such responsibility had to with culture and character of the Koreans. Quoting the popular saying of littérateur Lee O-young, “In Korea they say there is no logic. Instead there is emotion, intuitional insight and a soulful spirit”. Ordinarily some other leaders would use logic through apportioning of blames and finding solutions. The Prime Minister must have asked himself the question; how I would explain the death of these innocent children to their parent in grief? I have been derelict in my duties as a leader, I should resign. Korean etiquette comprises of a detailed arrangement of formalistic gestures, designed to develop pleasant feelings and smooth relations. Koreans are masters in maintaining their aura and mood, through intuiting the other person’s feeling by observating and behaving in a desirable style or taste.
Due to their mannerism, they are sometimes anxious in determining how to address an individual. Whether it should be straight from the shoulder, talk up or down. This sometimes makes whatever they want to say secondary. However the Koreans are friendly, sympathetic, warm, and cheerful. A non Korean is considered as classless and outcasts who are not expected to have knowledge of the Korean manner, thus any abrasive clash of culture would be disregarded. Further a Korean is seen as considerate, courteous and a doggedly loyal friend, this is asides hitches he will have to deal with when necessary. They are fun loving, boozy, and gregarious. Yet they remain hardworking, dev....www.horizonia.net

This is a continuation of “THE SAD TALE OF THE ORIGIN OF BOKO KILLERS AND HOW JONATHAN ESCALATED IT” Check it out at www.horizonia.net if you’ve not read it.

The assault on the late gallant Nigerian policemen occurred on the eve of President Jonathan’s departure to Brazil which has been well publicized. A number of officials suggested he postponed the visit and addressed the situation squarely he nonetheless argued that the security agencies where on top of the situation. On his way to the airport that day, he converged with the NSA, security chiefs and service chiefs and gave the directive that troops should be deployed to the area and leaders and members of the sect should be nibbled. He further directed that security officials should be in full alert in conterminous states to prevent the attacks from diffusing.
The president did not stop at that, he used informal channels to reach out to the Emirs and prominent Islamic leaders in the North. The Northern leaders were told to mobilize support against Boko Haram. Further he held a media session where he showed his sympathies and affirmed his determination to deal with the Boko Haram which he termed “misguided in beliefs, violent, contemptuous for rights of others, and that they undermined peace, stability and security”.President of Nigeria
Just as charged by the president, the soldiers led by Colonel Ben Ahanoto were able to seize Muhammad Yusuf with a minor injury in the arm...www.horizonia.net

PoliticsThe Sad Tale Of The Origin Of Bokokillers And How Jonathan Escalated It by Tabspear(op):
The current terroristic poise taken by Boko Haram as appreciated tragedy in the usually tragic country, Nigeria. However, Boko Haram’s principal ideology –Prohibition of Western education was not alien to Nigeria. Some organizations in the Southwestern Nigeria like the Karikasas and Zumratul mu’min up to the late 90’s are known to criticize western education. Even Mahatma Ghandi an outstanding figure in the world also shares the BokoHaramic ideology. Although Ghandhi was adequately educated and had his law degree from England, he prevent his children from acquiring a formal western education, owing to the fact that he conceived it would detract their cultural and religious values. Thus, the ordinary host of Boko Haram ideologies cannot premise the gore and fright that is witnessed daily in Nigeria. I would peruse the real and uncommon tale of how Boko Haram begun and how President Ebele Jonathan contributed to the menace.
HOW IT BEGUN
One cold morning in April 2007, in a suburb of Kano, popularly known as Dorayi. Some unidentified gunmen attacked an Sheikh Ja’afar Adam’s mosque assassinated him and three other Muslims during the dawn prayers. His death caused perpetual sorrow across the country as Sheikh Ja’afar was an eminent scholar who was grounded in Islamic knowledge and had studied in Saudi Arabia. Before his death he was a leader of the Salafi Islamic religious circle and had an amount of followers. Amongst his followers was Muhammad Yusuf the harbinger of Boko haram. Yusuf was from Jaskuso in Yobe and was close to Ja’afar. Infact it was said that Yusuf was to become the Imam of the Muhammadu Ndimi mosque where Ja’afar does his annual Tafsir in the month of Ramadan.Boko
After a while Yusuf turned a maverick and begun to www.horizonia.net

Foreign AffairsHamas Kill Gazans Too !!! by Tabspear(op): 6:12am On Jul 26, 2014
The pathos surging in the world is the Isreali-Palestine crisis. This is as a result of the flux of airstrikes on Gaza by the Israelis and the helplessness of ‘Gazans’ in preserving their lives. Both blocs have justified their actions and have their demands. It is agreed that the Palestinians are robbed not only of their territory and sovereignty by the world, But the awful aspect of the matter is that the Gaza civilians bear the brunt in an untoward way . The civilians are not only bombed by the Israelis but the Hamas kill Gazans too ! how?.... horizonia.net

Since the founding of the peninsula by wandering tribes of Tan’gun from Central and Northern Asia some 30,000 years ago, these intrepid nomadic tribes had their language, a variant of Ural-Altaic speech; related to Finnish, Hungarian and Turkish.
