The resolution states that Israel's settlement activity constitutes a "flagrant violation" of international law and has "no legal validity". It demands that Israel stop such activity and fulfill its obligations as an occupying power under the Fourth Geneva Convention.[2][3]

It was the first UNSC resolution to pass regarding Israel and the Palestine territories since Resolution 1860 in 2009,[4] and the first to address the issue of Israeli settlements with such specificity since Resolution 465 in 1980.[5][6] While the resolution did not include any sanction or coercive measure and was adopted under the non-binding Chapter VI of the United Nations Charter, Israeli newspaper Haaretz stated it "may have serious ramifications for Israel in general and specifically for the settlement enterprise" in the medium-to-long term.[6]

The text was welcomed by much of the international community in the following days. According to Murray McCully, former Minister of Foreign Affairs for New Zealand, Resolution 2334 reinforces the international community's commitment to a negotiated outcome [7] while former Canadian ambassador Paul Heinbecker noted that, Israeli and Palestinian narratives notwithstanding, resolution 2334 "reflects what the world thinks. It does not constitute a minority view or even a very divided view. If this resolution of the 15-member UN Security Council were put to a vote in the 193-member General Assembly, the outcome would scarcely be different."[8] In response, the government of Israel retaliated with a series of diplomatic actions against some members of the Security Council,[9][10] and accused the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama of having secretly orchestrated the passage of the resolution. Palestine's representatives stated this was an opportunity to end the occupation and establish a Palestinian state to live side by side with the state of Israel on the 1967 line.[11

This is not true. Stop misinforming the naive and enabling crime-loving people. Those you call rich and powerful are in morbid fear of getting into criminal problems. That you don't know them or have them in your circle reflects in your comment. Even those who left the armed forces, police etc are even more scared of the law because they know they have loads of enemies in the justice system.

The best way to avoid getting into trouble in Nigeria is to avoid any criminal problems. What most of you think is criminal are civil cases where they exploit loopholes in the law to their own benefits like most of the rich and powerful do everywhere in the world.

If you are still in doubt, go to prison and see the men and women of yesteryears their rich and powerful friends have abandoned.

That you are poor and reckless doesn't give you immunity against prosecution if you commit crimes and if you think it's because you are poor that's why you are sentenced then you have learnt nothing.

Money will protect you but it will never give you immunity. Any rich and powerful who do crime knows he or she will be caught eventually so they try to bring many others down with them just like this convicted 39 year old guy did with the poor security oldman

Hello Nairalanders. Please I need help regarding this NEPA people.

Please who knows any top NEPA official that I can lay my complaints to? These people are oppressing and frustrating us. I have laid several complaints to their office here but no headway.

I have applied for prepaid since but it's not forthcoming. They said that there's an embargo on it. Then why the outrageous bills as a post paid user? I was given #429,000 for September and #387,000 for August. I paid a very substantial amount but these people have come to disconnect me saying I should come and pay another #200,000. When I don't a company in my flat.

The bills for other months was outrageous as well. I have never defaulted in my payment.

I have made use of every channel to send them a mail and complain. Nothing. Been to their various offices, nothing too. I'm tired. This is extortion.

Even if the prepaid meter comes, the outstanding bill is over a million and they will still be deducting wickedly when I buy units.

I NEED HELP AT THIS POINT.
