PoliticsSenate Probes KWAM I, Emmanson Incidents by Tenisam(op): 11:43pm On Aug 12, 2025
The Senate on Tuesday vowed to investigate recent airline-passenger incidents in the nation’s aviation sector.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Aviation, Senator Buhari Abdulfatai disclosed this in a statement in Abuja.

Abdulfatai expressed serious concern over recent high-profile airline–passenger incidents that have raised questions about operational standards, passenger rights, and the overall discipline within Nigeria’s aviation sector.

There have been incidents involving Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM 1 and Value Jet Airline as well as Comfort Emmanson and Ibom Airline.

Speaking on the incidents, Senator Abdulfatai emphasised that these developments demand immediate and coordinated action to protect the integrity of the sector and restore public confidence.

“In the exercise of its constitutional powers, the Committee will be engaging key regulatory bodies, operators, security agencies, and public interest groups to establish the facts, review existing procedures, and ensure that any necessary corrective measures are swiftly implemented.

“We will not allow procedural gaps or lapses in enforcement to undermine safety, professionalism, or public trust in our aviation system.

“The Senate Committee on Aviation will ensure accountability at all levels,” Senator Abdulfatai said.

The Committee assured Nigerians that it is maintaining active oversight and will drive the process toward enforceable solutions that prevent a recurrence of such incidents.

I have nothing against them winning or celebrating them. I'm against the sudden and unnecessary show off, when they are 10s of thousands who worked so hard more than the falcons and tigress for good 35 years of their lives and still counting, yet they can't even pay them a dime.
you actually don't know what you are saying because there's no unnecessary show off. every government has their own and this is the major trophy won under Tinubu administration so shut it. when you become President, bring your own policy then. Nigeria is not the only country rewarding their athletes and not the first country civil servants will work for number of years and treated poorly.

PoliticsNASS Showdown: Senate Draws Battle Lines Over Natasha’s Return by Tenisam(op): 1:31pm On Jul 21, 2025
The Senate has warned the suspended lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, to desist from forcefully resuming her legislative duties on Tuesday.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Yemi Adaramodu, gave the warning in a statement issued on Sunday.

While insisting that no valid court order mandated her immediate recall, Adaramodu said the Senate remained committed to due process and the rule of law.

He said, “The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria wishes to reaffirm, for the third time, that there is no subsisting court order mandating the Senate to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan before the expiration of her suspension.”

The clarification followed media reports quoting the embattled lawmaker as saying she would return to the Senate on Tuesday, allegedly based on a judgment by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

However, Adaramodu said the Senate had previously issued two public statements after the court ruling and the release of the Certified True Copy of the enrolled order, making it clear that no positive or mandatory directive was issued against the Senate regarding her recall.

“Rather, the honourable court gave a non-binding advisory urging the Senate to consider amending its standing orders and reviewing the suspension, which it opined might be excessive.

“The court, however, explicitly held that the Senate did not breach any law or constitutional provision in imposing the disciplinary measure based on the senator’s misconduct during plenary,” he said.

The Senate further noted that the same court found Akpoti-Uduaghan guilty of contempt and imposed penalties, including a N5m fine payable to the Federal Government and a mandatory apology in two national newspapers and on her Facebook page — a directive that has reportedly not been complied with.

“It is, therefore, surprising and legally untenable that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, while on appeal and having filed a motion for stay against the valid and binding orders made against her, is attempting to act upon an imaginary order of recall that does not exist,” the Senate spokesman added.

He warned that any move by the suspended lawmaker to “storm the Senate next Tuesday under a false pretext would be premature, disruptive, and a breach of legislative order.

“The Senate will, at the appropriate time, consider the advisory opinion of the court on both amending the standing orders of the Senate, her recall, and communicate the same thereof to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.

“Until then, she is respectfully advised to stay away from the Senate chambers and allow due process to run its full course,” the statement concluded.
PoliticsTinubu’s Failure To Appoint Envoys Hurts Nigeria’s Global Image — ADC by Tenisam(op): 11:31am On Jul 21, 2025
ABUJA—African Democratic Congress, ADC, has criticised President Bola Tinubu for failing to appoint ambassadors to Nigeria’s foreign missions, warning that the continued delay was damaging the country’s global image and weakening its international relations.

In a statement released by the party’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, yesterday, ADC said it was deeply concerned that for more than two years, Nigeria has had no ambassadors representing it abroad.

The party described the situation as ‘embarrassing’ and warned it could lead to other countries downgrading their diplomatic ties with Nigeria.

“Since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recalled all 109 ambassadors in 2023, none has been replaced. This has left Nigeria without proper representation at global forums where key decisions that affect our country and citizens are made,” the statement read.

The ADC pointed out that the absence of ambassadors had already worsened visa and consular issues, especially with countries such as the United States and the United Arab Emirates, UAE.

The party argued that lower-ranking diplomats or chargé d’affaires could not adequately represent Nigeria’s interests, as they do not have the same level of access or recognition as full ambassadors.

“This government’s failure to appoint ambassadors has seriously affected the quality of our relationships with countries hosting Nigerian missions. If this continues, other countries may also reduce their level of representation in Nigeria,” Abdullahi added.

The ADC also accused the Tinubu administration of lacking urgency and direction on the issue, noting that Nigeria was being left out of important discussions on economic cooperation, trade and international partnerships.

The party said: “While other nations are busy forming alliances, signing trade deals, and securing investment agreements, Nigeria is missing from the table because we have no high-level diplomats abroad.’’

The ADC further criticised the government’s handling of a recent diplomatic incident involving a U.S. request for Nigeria to accept deported Venezuelans, describing the response by the foreign affairs minister, delivered on live television, as careless and inappropriate.

“While we support the government’s stand on this issue, we are shocked that such a sensitive matter was discussed openly on a prime-time TV show. Communications with a powerful ally like the United States should be handled with more care and diplomacy,” the party said.

It called on President Tinubu to immediately appoint ambassadors to end the growing embarrassment and avoid further damage to Nigeria’s foreign policy.

“The President must act now and appoint ambassadors to protect Nigeria’s interests and reputation abroad,” the party warned.
PoliticsKatsina Gov Discharged, Thanks Well-wishers After Minor Road Accident by Tenisam(op): 11:24am On Jul 21, 2025
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has been discharged after being involved in a minor road accident on Sunday evening along the Daura–Katsina road.

The update was confirmed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, who noted that Radda is in good health and high spirits. Bashir Ahmed, former media aide to late President Muhammadu Buhari, also corroborated the news, citing information from the Katsina Local Government Area chairman.

Following the incident, Governor Radda expressed gratitude to the people of Katsina State and Nigerians at large for their prayers and concern. In a short live video address from his residence on Sunday, the governor said:

“Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim. Dear brothers and sisters of Katsina State and beyond, we are deeply grateful for all your prayers and concern. By the will of Allah, we were tested with a car accident—but Alhamdulillah, we came out safe and unharmed.”

The governor was briefly placed under medical observation as a precaution but has since resumed normal activities.

PoliticsDefection: Adeleke’s Negotiation Hits Brickwall — Source by Tenisam(op): 11:06am On Jul 21, 2025
OSOGBO— AS the political situation in Osun State becomes more uncertain over Governor Ademola Adeleke’s rumoured defection, sources have revealed that the governor is negotiating with top All Progressives Congress, APC, politicians to actualise his defection.

Also, the recent defection of two Osun State senators from the PDP to the APC has heightened the rumoured defection of Governor Adeleke, as sources described the movement of the senators as an advance party for the governor.

However, it was gathered that some top APC officials, leading the negotiations, have hit a brick wall as the Osun APC group is hellbent on not allowing the governor to join the party.

An APC chieftain, Mr Remi Omowaiye, told Vanguard that though the governor has the right to join the party, he ought to have followed the right channel rather than defecting on social media.

“For me, the governor’s rumoured defection remains within the space of social media. If the governor wants to join the APC, there are proper channels he should follow. He would speak with the leadership of the party in the state; as of today, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, remains the party leader. I am not aware of any discussion or that the governor has reached out to him.

“You can’t join the party through the back door, or some governors in other states.

“Also, our concern is that the governor has a lot of baggage with him. He has not done well. He sacked teachers without replacing them, he sacked health workers without replacement, he is building sub-standard roads and bridges, we have asked for the designs of the bridges, but till now, they have not been able to present them to us. What do we tell the people when he brings his baggage?

“I can also assure you that the party is stronger now than before.”

When contacted, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who pleaded anonymity, confided in Vanguard that Adeleke’s camp is progressing quite well with the negotiations.

The party source lamented over the reluctance from the Osun APC camp, especially Oyetola’s camp, to embrace the negotiations.

“The governor is playing his part to progress with the talk. I can tell you for free that the governor’s camp is talking well with the Abuja APC camp, and the talk is ongoing; it is just surprising that the Minister’s team is dragging its feet on the matter.

“What is certain is that the governor is discussing and wants to ensure that he gets the party ticket automatically. He is very popular with the people in the state and he is willing to ensure President Bola Tinubu gets re-elected in 2027”, the source said

Meanwhile, a source close to the APC Secretariat in Abuja said Adeleke’s negotiation has hit a brick wall in Abuja, hence, he was told to return for negotiations.

The APC source said: “The defection of Senators Francis Fadahunsi and Olubiyi Fadeyi has nothing to do with the Governor Ademola Adeleke team. The two senators went to negotiate their fate separately since Adeleke’s camp did not inform them of their intention to join the party. So, the Senators’ movement is not in any way an advance team for the governor.

“Presently, it is only the President and Oyetola who can give specific direction for the negotiation. From the look of things, the governor may remain in the PDP for the 2026 governorship election except the national leadership of the APC intervenes in the matter”, said the source.

PoliticsPeter Obi Is Already Planning To Leave ADC  —  Kachikwu by Tenisam(op): 10:25am On Jul 21, 2025
The 2023 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu, claims Peter Obi is already considering a move out of the ADC.

Earlier in July, Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in 2023, joined other opposition politicians to launch the ADC as a coalition party to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

Barely two days after the launch, Obi announced his 2027 presidential ambition, while still holding the LP membership card.

But Kachikwu believes Obi won’t be allowed to run for presidency on the ADC platform. According to him, the ADC structure is being packaged for Atiku’s presidential ambition.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, the ADC chieftain, who has been accusing opposition politicians , including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar,  of hijacking his party, claimed that Obi is set to leave the coalition, having realised that the ADC is set up to favour Atiku.

He said: “The whole ADC structure is being packaged for the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Since I started warning people about what is happening, we can see what is happening within the coalition. Someone like Mr Peter Obi now understands that the whole coalition was packaed for Atiku Ababakar. From our understanding, what we are seeing now is that he is looking in other directions, and other people who aspire to run now realise that the coalition was indeed no coalition. It was just a vehicle for Atiku Abubakar’s ambition.”

Kachikwu insisted that the ADC will not be used for Atiku’s presidential ambition, adding that the 2027 election will not give room for what he called ‘class exploitation’ by political leaders.

He vowed to work against the politicians by ensuring that Nigerians are informed and educated about their political power as citizens.

This one is still stuck in the 1970s political permutations, will I blame him? No! Because he is of the old era and so he lacks the indepth knowledge of the new era politics of today.

Atiku has already been adopted as next Northern political Messiah after Buhari.

Atiku-Obi will defeat Tinubu hands down.

Obi-El Rufai can still work but 2027 Presidential election is not just about winning at the polling units, it's beyond that, after people have voted for you to win, can you defend and protect their votes against an incumbent President's rigging mercenaries until the results are announced? That is where I have issue with Obi being the flag bearer of the coalition ticket.

Peter Obi that I know is a man of peace and obeys rule of law to the core, his Obidient Movement supporters are enlightened youths who just want positive change in Nigeria's leadership and most of us are fully engaged/employed, we don't have time for physical street fight and thug war, Igbos another Peter Obi's support base are too refined, enlightened and republican in nature to engage in street fight or confrontation to protect Peter Obi's electoral victory at the polling units, that was the same reason Obi got rigged out in 2023; nobody to fight and defend his victory, so the incumbent government via INEC then helped Tinubu to carry the day, and Supreme Court upheld the electoral robbery.

If Peter Obi fly the coalition ticket, the same thing will happen because Northerners that have the street OT to defend their preferred candidate's votes won't put body since Peter Obi isn't from the North, the will be neutral expecting Igbos to lead the revolt should Tinubu attempt to rig the results.

But if Atiku flies the coalition ticket with Obi as running mate, it is game over for Bola Tinubu and APC and everybody including Tinubu knows this and that is what they will work so hard to ensure it doesn't happen by using different media publications and newspaper headlines like this to confuse Peter Obi not to deputize Atiku, Obi and Obidient Movement must not allow Tinubu and his political mercenaries to succeed. Swallow your pride, work with Atiku and let's unseat Tinubu first. I trust Atiku more than any other Nigerian politician after Peter Obi, Atiku won't be as horrible as the incumbent President now.
too much story and talk, yet very irrelevant. wake up chief

SmartEnergyng:
Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan: The Senator Who Thinks She’s a Street Protester in a Power Suit

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is proving—yet again—that political confusion can be weaponized into national comedy. Her recent drama over resumption to the Senate reeks not of principle, but of a woman trapped between a megaphone and a microphone, unsure whether to chant slogans or draft laws.

This is not Nollywood, madam. It is the Red Chamber—where legislation, not theatrical activism, is expected.
Like Sanusi Lamido Sanusi in his first coming as Emir of Kano, Natasha confuses institutional decorum with street defiance. Sanusi thought a royal stool was a TED Talk platform; Natasha now believes the Senate is a protest stage. Sanusi was rightly removed for crossing lines. Natasha may not be removed, but she’s quickly becoming irrelevant by her own hand.
She flaunts streetlights and smart markets like a local government chairperson hawking boreholes. But this is the Senate—not a constituency NGO project fair.
Worse still is the self-importance. To suggest that barring her from the chambers “denies women and children representation” is laughable. No, madam—you are not Mother Nigeria. You’re a senator, not a messiah.
Senators craft laws, build alliances, and shape national discourse. They are not Instagram influencers chasing photo ops with gold bills and laptops. Your job is not to hug the headlines—it is to earn respect inside the chamber, not shout from outside.
So here’s some advice: drop the drama, pick up a briefing note. The Senate is not a stage for your perpetual rebellion. It is an institution. If you can’t learn the difference, then perhaps activism, not legislation, is your true calling.
And please—spare us the martyr complex. You're not being silenced. You're just being... politically noisy. And increasingly ineffective.
