Official: Talks going on for Sadiq replacement



A top official has told SCORENigeria that the Super Eagles could still replace injured Sadiq Umar even beyond the deadline for the submission of a final squad to CAF.

“We can still replace the injured player and talks are ongoing as per a replacement,” the official told only SCORENigeria

Likely direct replacements are Turkey-based Paul Onuachu and Cyriel Dessers of Scottish giants Rangers.



The NFF will have to discuss with the respective clubs of the players before they can effect such a replacement.


As it stands, Victor Osimhen is now the only out-and-out striker available for the team’s opening group.

Both Kelechi Iheanacho and Terem Moffi are only due in Cote d’Ivoire by the weekend.

The Super Eagles will open their AFCON campaign Sunday afternoon in Abidjan against Equatorial Guinea.
