This is where stats can be misleading at times. Messi isn't above criticism. If you watch him in the past few games this year you will understand fully what I'm talking about.

His freekick taking, finishing, dribbling, pace, press-resistance all seem to have to declined. Maybe it's just me sha. 2 seasons ago messi alone would have been enough to win that match.
I quite agree with you Bro..

But my point is this;

You cannot criticise 17 Goals and 9 Assists in 22 matches for a team.

You just cannot do that...

Whatever the premise, you cannot do that.

Except the person is Messi, hell no!

Messi is surely not doing too well recently.

It happened to him some time ago when some of us here wanted to sell him.

But he came back and dropped GOAT level performances.

Such are times when you need the next superstar in the team to step up; just as Mane and Salah complement themselves...

Dembele came and failed us.
Coutinho came and failed us.

Griezman nko?
Is he not collecting salary?

I can't remember Griezman even touching the ball yesterday but it's still Messi Messi Messi.

The only team in Europe still relying on one person to perform in all 58 games in a season is Barca.

Haba!

That's true ooh.

Messi has been very inconsistent this season.

I don't even know how he's managed to be the top scorer and assist.

I think it's time to let him go. We need to cash in on him now so that others who haven't been inconsistent can deliver the goods.

Messi is really drawing the team backward now

But they want Consistency from a 34plus years old Ronaldo...
They?

Who is they?

As far as am aware, nobody here on this thread expects consistency for a 34 year old Ronaldo.

Mess and Ronaldo weren't even 100 percent consistent at 27 years old, talkless of now.

All we want you to do is accept that Ronaldo is second to Messi.

Once you do, everybody goes home happy.

Messi has made himself known as consistency itself.

His present form is very worrying. Even if he wasn't scoring or assisting i wouldn't be so worried. But he's finding it hard to get past his man and losing possession so easily. Maybe it's the new system sha and the lack of suarez to draw out defenders.

Messi plays a little bit better when suarez is playing and he's 32 not 33.
17 Goals and 9 Assists in 22 Games.

3 Goals in his last 5 Games with ratings of 8.64, 8.39, 8.05 and 7.86.

Am sorry but seriously I still don't get your point.

Now name for me ONE player in Europe that has been consistent all season especially attackers (Week I to Week 22)

Am waiting Pls name.

dembele is injured, Suarez is injured, continho is on loan and fati is young, what were you expecting?

I wish been worried if we don't improve in our next 5 games next season because coach needs alot of time and less pressure to implement their ideas.

It took pep a year and work to get man city working, same happened to kloop during his Liverpool debut.

If by next season after we sigh good strikers and many other players and still have no results, that's when we'll start calling for coach and players head.

In fact I expect Barcelona to go trophy less this season but we won't because Madrid is shit too
I had thought Griezman was top 5 players in the worldhuh

this is what will happen if Barcelona sell messi.

Over 70% of their fans will be gone, I mean disappear
No single soul will be interested in la liga again and they will loose many TV rights and viewers.

Barcelona sells will go down and they won't attack sponsors

Barcelona will be 30x as bad as we are now, messi is the only thing keeping Barcelona afloat. It's like many of you forgot when messi was injured and Barcelona was almost in relegation zone and people were saying messi is finished them he got back and started scoring and we bounced to first position.

You said messi isn't consistent, tell me one better player with more stats better than him this season?

Never doubt greatness I'm sure you are spending too much time listening to rival fans of dead clubs that want messi gone so Barcelona will be like them!
Lol

With your reply it's very obvious that you know very little about my stance with respect to this club.

I will never understand coaches fascination with roberto. Enrique, valverde, setien. Seriously what do they see in the guy?

He is the embodiment of mediocrity in Barcelona. He has just been consistently average throughout the season.

Umtiti isn't world class anymore i don't know why setien is starting him instead of lenglet.

Arthur and dejong were atrocious. Busquets played nonsense. Fati and griezmann were invisible.

Only vidal and stegen were good.
Personally I would pass a vote of confidence in the defence.
Pique, Umtiti and Lenglet.

My suspect is Alba.

Our problems haven't changed much over the years.
We press press press,

Lose the ball and they hit us in the counter.,
Notice how high Pique and Umtiti were playing.

Teams hardly press us and score us. Most teams absorb pressure and score us on fast breaks..

Anybody who's still looking for consistency from a 33 year old man after 15 years of excellence is only dreaming.

Dreaming!

We shouldn't be looking for consistency from Messi, we should be getting others who will add small consistency and join his own.

The most people won't admit but messi has been inconsistent this season. He has had games where he has been absolutely terrible for his own standards.

You know something is wrong when messi is struggling to complete dribbles. He has been losing possession throughout the season. I'm tired of the nonsense Am/cm/Dm nonsense he's doing. It's seriously hurting the team. He should just start playing his F9 or rw role again and stick to the position and stop dropping deep.

2 ways of going forward;

1. Hope Dembele stays fit when he returns from injury. (4 months without injury isn't too much to ask, Dembele.)

2. Loan a top striker if any is available (at this rate wouldn't mind Aubameyang or Cavani if available).

Wait in your opinion, you think that Messi's presence on the field has some restrictive capacity of teams to attack us? Messi's presence gives us an attacking advantage not a defending advantage. You and I know that Messi doesn't mark and you also know a plethora of matches we have conceded up to 3 or more goals despite having Messi on the pitch, don't you?
It's like you didn't watch the match that day.

Do you know how many chances that Suarez and Coutinho missed before Levante raced to their 5 to 1 lead?

Do you think that if Messi was on the pitch we would not have scored 2 or 3 in the first 30 minutes?

I guarantee you;

If Messi was on, we'd get more goals before they got to 5 goals.

If Messi was on, we'd get more than 4 goals that day.

And just to let you know from today;

Attack is the best form of defence.

Then it was a big deal to me, it was a chance to make history in La Liga, something even the greatest coaches in Spain never accomplished. And with that feat I am sure Valverde would have been like a god. However, that capitulation is irritating because even without Messi, we scored four goals, FOUR!! So goal scoring wasn't our problem, defending was and please tell me, since Messi made his debut in 2003 when has it ever been his responsibility to prevent goals? NEVER!!! Messi is the most creative player in Barca history, however in that match we didn't need his brilliance because goal scoring wasn't our problem, our problem was defending. That season, we conceded 29 goals, Our problem that season against Levante was our defense not our attack and I wonder how Messi would have contributed to our defense....

However, that was two seasons it no longer bothers me it did but I've gotten over it
At the 58 minute mark, the scoreline was already;
Levante 5 Barcelona 1.

I have 2 questions for you;

1. With Messi playing, do you really think that Barca would be trailing in that game by 4 goals at 58 minutes?

2. Kpatakpata we play Levante 8, Barcelona 9 scoreline.
Despite the 'shittyness' of our defence, do you really think that Levante would have beaten Barca with Messi playing for 90 minutes?

IKON360:
If you check our matches that season, Messi was being rested a lot especially cos of Copa America and such. An effective system isn't reliant on one player that's the thing. If Messi had been in that match, would it have stopped Levante from attacking how they did? Look at Setien's team that beat us at Camp Nou was it last season or two seasons ago, Messi played yet they won. Football isn't a one man sport and it never will be. That match the whole team were to blame, not because Valverde rested one player that you go and concede 5 goals. If your best player is rested you should keep the score goalless not conceding goals like you don't understand anything about football
What i understand with you is that you do not take it as a big deal if we went the entire 38 games of the season unbeaten.

It's not a big deal to you, simple and short.

But to some of us, it was very special to achieve that history,

And resting Messi for that away game was one of the dumbest things EV did and would ever do in his lifetime.

Yes of course the team should beat Levante without Messi but have you ever heard of any serious minded coach resting his star player with so much at stake?
For no other reason other than resting him for Copa America or one stupiid friendly in South Africa?

9 times out of 10 we would have gotten at least a draw against Levante that day.

We had played 36 matches unbeaten with 2 more to go. We then had the 37th match against our boogie team Levante at their own stadium.
So are you telling me that Valverdre was right to gamble with the history we were about to make by resting him for Copa America?

Pls give me your final answer so I can shut my big mouth.

I personally didn't think we needed Messi in that match, our midfielders were calamitous, the defense were confused but Coutinho and Suarez were on fire. We scored enough goals in that match to win us a normal game however we leaked enough goals for all the midfielders and defenders to be seriously flogged
Some things are not to be gambled with or played with.

Any serious coach would never bench Messi in that game..

We were on the verge of history, and we were playing a boogie team Levante.
AWAY.

Not home but AWAY.

We needed Messi more than anything in that game.

And then Levante races to a 5-1 lead.

What were out attackers doing early in the game? Sleeping?
