Ronaldo fans during the Messi spell of 2009-2012 were mainly trying to say while Messi achievements couldn't be discounted, it didn't mean Ronaldo was not at the same level or higher; but that it was the Barca team, style of play (total football), and particularly the Xavi-Iniesta partnership that made it seem like they were miles apart in the Ballon D'Or tally.

6 years later we've all been proven right, and you guys are grasping at straws. No more Xavi-Iniesta partnership, tiki taka, and all of a sudden Messi goes AWOL in 3 consecutive UCL QFs. Meanwhile CR7 has gone to his 8th straight UCL SF despite age and changing personnel in the team. And just like that he is about to win the Ballon D'Or for a record 6th time ahead of Messi who had a 4-1 lead.

Stop this dumb statement. Iniesta and Xavi did not need help in the midfield. Barca plays a possession style of football and prefers to break teams down through the middle. Everyone in the midfield and attack gets involved in this play.

Saying LM10 fell back to help out Iniesta, Xavi, and Busquests is disrespectful to those legends. Messi also played in the wings regularly when he was younger: Was that him helping the midfield as well?

Only cules will disrespect their own players just to make Messi look good.

I'm certainly not in awe. Messi plays as a 10 primarily in the middle of the pack. Connecting the midfield to the attack, which in Barca is barely distinguishable. While CR7 primarily plays as a LWF.

Barca plays possession football with emphasis on breaking the opposition through the middle. RM plays direct football and will not hesitate to use the wings if the middle is choked. Both players are perfect for their respective club styles and routinely take the crown for most goals and assists.

So I see no reason why you guys would belittle CR7 contribution because he doesn't play a Barca style. CR7 has no business in the RM midfield, get that into your thick skulls. That is not how RM is set up, that's not how we play, and he is of much use upfront where we lack reliable scorers than in the midfield.

The last time CR7 played as a midfielder in Manchester United (2007), he entered the FIFA XI for the year as a midfielder, ahead of Xavi.

If this UCL final was between Juve and Bayern, Messi would have most likely won this year's 2018 Balon D'or. Reason being that none of their star players have had an exceptional year.

If this UCL final was between Real and PSG, we'd be talking about a possible Neymar Balon D'Or win, not Salah.

Once upon a time, the 4-1 Ballon D'Or lead was used as an argument point, now that CR7 is about to be in a 6-5 Ballon D'Or lead, it doesn't matter.

How can a player who is about to win the Golden Shoe find it difficult to score or assist one goal in the most high profile matches of his season over 180 minutes? Not against a traditional European Heavyweight. But against Roma! Roma! If na Levante, e go dey show e sef. And you want us to give the Ballon D'Or to a man who has gone missing 3 times in a row when it mattered most in the biggest competition in club football. Where's the logic?

Bro I'm not hating on Messi, i know he has an excellent all round play, but looking at the recent years in ucl knockout his all round play isn't good. Remember psg first leg that he didn't even enter the box for the whole 90 minutes, second leg was all Neymar apart from the pk messi scored he was all most absent, what about Juve home and away last year wasn't he poor? He played well against Chelsea home away in fact he played exceptionally. Now look at his performances in both legs against Roma isn't it poor? About a month ago Ankio Briggs was on Today fm radio Port Harcourt saying no restructuring no election come 2019 that Nigerians are tired of APC and PDP. But today they've all gathered to endorse Wike of PDP for 2019. I said it all these people championing restructuring from South-South to South- East to South-West are all PDP members that don't mean well for Nigerians. Before PDP defeat in 2015 they were shouting PDP, power, power to the people PDP. Well i am not surprise same Asari and Ankio Briggs did same thing in 2007 they clamoured for resource control but the moment Jonathan ascended to power and started dishing out billions of contracts to them these same people all went mute.
