BREAKING: Ajimobi breaks silence, assumes duty as APC Acting Chairman.


The Deputy National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (South), Senator Abiola Ajimobi who is presently recuperating at a Lagos Hospital has called on all APC stakeholders to continue to observe the peace as he assumes position as acting National Chairman of the APC.

Senator Ajimobi spoke through his Special Adviser, Communication and Strategy, Bolaji Tunji, in the aftermath of the order of the Court of Appeal affirming the suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as National Chairman.

Senator Ajimobi took over the leadership of the party in line with Section 14 subsection 3 of the APC constitution that states that: “the Deputy National Chairman shall act as the National Chairman in the absence of the National Chairman from his zone.”

According to a Statement by the Spokesman to the Acting National Chairman, a meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC), would be called soon to resolve all contentious issues.

“We should therefore let peace continue to reign until we call the NEC meeting and take a position on the way forward,” he said.

The high court erred in its judgement because its position contravened the succession arrangemet spelt out in the apc constitution.
Oshiomhole's lawyer should explore the lacuna and ambush them at the SC like orji uzo kalu's lawyer did to void his sentence.

It's purely an internal party affair, so the constitution of the party should be adhered to.

I see Oshio reversing this judgement at the SC if his lawyers are good.

It is no longer news that Obaseki did not scale the screening to contest in APC primaries in Edo state.

It is also no longer news that Obaseki has resigned his membership of APC but is yet to declare for another political party.

My confusion and question is, if a governor must have constitutional powers, he must be a member of a political party. But within the last 12 hours at least, Obaseki is not a member of any political party.

What then happens to the vacuum so created by his resignation from APC and his lack of membership of any other political party?

Can Obaseki still take official decisions in his capacity as governor after he resigned from the party that gave him the mandate and is yet to join another.

Nature abhors vacuum, pls let the lawyers in the house and political analysts shed more light on this.

Thank you for this. It's funny how many people on this forum know the truth but they will still change the narrative to their favour... If by monday Oshiomhole gets stay of execution from the supreme court what will Gaidom be saying. The ruling he is relying on was made when there was no Deputy National Chairman from South, but now that there is someone in that position Gaidom can't claim He is the most senior in the NWC.

When he finally inaugurated Ajimobi, then he's acting under Court judgement that nullified his suspension. MEANING all he did before last night was VALID. Gaidom remains in his position as the deputy secretary why Ajimobi runs the affairs till Oshobaba's ILLEGAL suspension get lifted c'est fini
