CONTINUATION......

Few inches between us, Jarter slowed down a little and stopped right in front of me. I on the other hand was banging my back against the wooden wall hoping that it would give way but no, the wall was as strong as Barcelona's defence against the mighty missiles of Liverpool. I had underestimated it by the way it looks but now I'm regretting it.

I was majourly scared of what will happen to me if this man called Jarter overpowers me, but nonetheless, my mind never stopped working. It was looking for every possible means of escape.

Without giving me another chance to make any move, Jarter suddenly plunged forward towards me with the aim of grabbing me but luckily for me I was very fast to sweep to one side thereby causing Jarter to collide his head with the wall.

He sniffed angrily and turned around at me. "You are so dead today. " He shouted ferociously.

"Should I call Capable? ". Lovelyn asked in a frenzied tone.

"For what! " Jarter lashed out at her. " to come and help me beat this thing? "

"Jarter, this is not the time to be feeling too confident, this guy can outsmart us both... " She tried to protest but Jarter wasn't ready to give in either.

"will you keep quiet? If your father with all his wisdom can not stop me from marrying you, then who is this one that I can't handle? Keep quiet and watch how I got my reputation. no be moin-moin" Jarter warned.

His full attention was now focused on me.
The only way out of here is through the door by the right hand side. Jarter was closer to it than I am. If I try to get there I might be successful in that but the chances of opening the door before he gets hold of me is equal to Arsenal's chances of reaching top four.

"Ahgrarhahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " Jarter's voice roared again and within a split of seconds he was charging at me with the sole aim of ramming me against the wall but thank goodness for my quick reflexes, I was able to get out of the way by an inch of him and he couldn't help but ram his own head into the wall and there was a loud cracking sound that dominated the room from that collision.

I turned around as swift as I could and used all my strength to further pushed him into the hole his head had created inside the wall.

He was groaning and whimpering in pain with every effort I applied on his body. Traces of blood could be seen escaping from his neckline down to the floor.

With every force I applied on his body, he was always trying to kick my groin with his back heels but I was smart enough to avoid all his attempts.
"Argh!!!!! " I cried out loud as I continue to shove his muscular body into the growing hole. I made sure half his body was well stuffed into the hole before I let him be. There's no way he's going to get out of that hole without an external help.

I quickly dragged the middle table to the base of his buttocks to further prevent him from maneuvering his way out. Even if he did get out, he will be too weak to pick up any fight, judging by the amount of blood he has lost already to the woods.

"Ah! " I heaved a deep sigh of relief as I turned around to meet Lovelyn but to my utter surprise she was no where to be seen.

I became instantly at alert. I turned around again towards the door and found it a bit open. That means someone has left the room. I got out instantly out of the room with the purpose of getting her.

I'd barely spent a minute outside when I started hearing the sound of a typical running shoe heels from a distance above the cellar.

Furiously, I doubled my speed and went after her. I was almost out of the steps that linked the underground to the surface when I caught a sharp glimpse of Lovelyn's Ankara attire at the last step.

I thriced my steps and was able to grab her by the arm barely before she could stamp her foot on the surface of the bridge where Capable is most likely to be waiting for us.

"Lemme goooo! " She shouted and at the same time trying desperately to wriggle free of my firm grip.

"No... No... " I said as I was still fighting to catch my breath. "you have a lot to answer for... ". I pinned her by the chest against the side railings of the steps.

"You are hurting me.... ". She cried out in a muffled tone.
I still didn't let her go. With arms and elbows placed on her neck and chest, I pinned her the more.

"Darous.... I'm cho.... Cho.... Choking.... " I quickly released her after hearing that when I saw the visible veins forming on her forehead. I may be desperate but I'm not a murderer.

She gasped for breathe and dropped tiredly to the floor of the step.

I swallowed the lump in my mouth and wiped the sweats on my forehead.

"Lovelyn,...... ". I called at her while she bent her head on her knees. "You are very very.... ". I was still saying when I heard a very low sound coming from the surface of the bridge. I peeped my eyes with strained ears to check what's going on but I was too late to notice the presence of the guy called Capable that was pointing his gun to my face.

"Yeeeeeeeeeeyeeeeyeeeyeeeee, you are so dead...... " He pouted his lips at me. I watched with increasing tension as he slowly raised his left hand to cork the gun.

Seeing that as an ample opportunity to act, in the blink of an eye, I quickly charged towards him and I was able to force him to the ground, but before he could land on the floor, there was a sound of gunshot that was quickly followed by a loud anguish scream from the lips of no one else but the only lady within the area.

I turned my eyes around sharply and was very stupefied with what I saw. Lovelyn was still on her feet but she was holding her stomach that was bleeding profusely. Her dark eyes were momentarily locked with mine before she let her hands fall off her stomach and then her body contacted the floor with a heavy force after which she rolled down the steps.

"Nooooooooooooooo!!!! ". I cried out painfully and quickly got on my feet. My eyes colided with the gun on the floor before the eyes of Capable. He was still lying on the floor without moving. He had on a regrettable look that depicts everything remourseful.

I picked the gun and sighed before pointing it at the motionless Capable. I was so deadly determined to pull the trigger and blow off his ugly looking skull. I looked down the steps again to look at the lifeless body of Lovelyn.

The pain of her death strike my brain again in multiple unbearable folds and click.... I pulled the trigger at Capable's face but nothing came out of the gun.

I clicked again and again but still the same result. I looked down at Capable and was shocked to see him smiling.

"The last bullet was meant for you.... Dummy... " He grinned wickedly and begin to laugh out loud hysterically.
I was left distraught at what was happening within the moment. I never expected things to get ugly like this. Tongue extent that someone has to die. Counting from the prison, three people have died now and all deaths are strongly linked to me. Evidently, Trouble is my Botanical name.

"what? Iyawo mi? " (meaning 'my wife?') That voice came from the base of the steps where Lovelyn's body was lying.

I turned around towards there and I saw Jarter looking straight at me. His eyes shone widely when he saw the gun in my hand.

"Ahaaaarghhhhhhhh!!!!!!" He snarled very loud on top of his voice. His blood covered face made him appear like a wounded lion even though he appeared very weak and that was when I knew I had to run.

Without dropping the gun and even still in my white garment, I took to my heels and started running towards the direction in which the car was parked.

In no time, I got there quickly and was very happy to found it unlocked. I glanced back and saw that no one was following me. Jarter wasn't visible yet and Capable was still lying motionlessly on the floor.

I got inside the driver seat and quickly switched on the ignition. The car produced a low sound before roaring to life.

"You will pay for this!!! " That Jarter's voice came from behind me. I didn't even bother to look back before turning the car around towards the opposite direction.

I checked the dashboard and my eyes colided with the time.

It was 03:26Am. Perfect time to pay someone a visit.

CONTINUATION.........

I know what to do. I know they can't kill me, not until they have the money in their accounts, and to do that, they need me to login into my account. That's never gonna happen.

All I need is to escape from here and look for another way to get my money from the bank. I will go and get my child from Joke and after then, I will leave the country. All I need to do is to first fight my way out of this place.

"Darous what do you say? The sun will soon be out and we can't take the risk of getting caught here... Will you deal with us?" Lovelyn stated again with an impatient tone.

"Yes, I'll deal with you messilessly... You think I'm a fool abi? Make I transfer all my money to you so that you can run away after killing me abi? You and your husband are very crazy. Your brains are on a parrallel line with common sense and they can never meet... " With the level of anger boiling inside of me, I almost say all that but I just maintained my cool and decided to play it cool.

I summoned courage again and looked directly into the face of the two greedy souls in the room.

"Yes! I'll deal with you.." I finally said. Lovelyn's face shone brightly with a giant smile after I said that. The man behind her also laughed out loud to show his excitement but only to be caught off guard by my next words.

"Yes... I'll deal with you but not until I'm sure of my safety..." I dropped that as fast and mean as I could. There faces were very fast to change from an excited one to a horrific one.

"What!" Jarter lamented and quickly followed was a loud hiss from Lovelyn herself.

"Wait... Wait... Darous, are you saying you don't trust me?" Lovelyn blurted out.

"Trust? Funny... Trust has never had anything to do with our relationship back then. How do you expect me to trust you when the man you hired to get me out of prison already have plans to kill you both once I transfer the money to you? " I dropped that with the aim of getting them against each other. Lovelyn's face was quick to find Jarter's as both were too shocked to hear what I just said. "if you think I'm lying, then can you explain the reason why he killed two of his own men when they were trying to stop him from doing so?" They looked at each other again and I quickly rose to my feet.

"Oro radarada wo lo n so lenu? ". Jarter said in the local dialect that instantly brought the Don Movies back to the table.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Jarter blurted out again as he started approaching me.

"I'm not saying nonsense Mr Jarter, I can not trust anyone in this kind of situation.... That man Capable is capable of killing all of us and we both know it. " I reiterated furtherly. My intention was to get both of them confused till they will have no choice than to call Capable to come inside. Since he appears to be the only one with gun in the room, all I need to do to take charge of the situation is to get the gun from Capable once he enters. I know people like Jarter, they don't seem to reason well in situations of impending betrayals like this. I was doing all these with the hope that I'm not wrong about him, or else, I might embrace my doom within the hour.

"I heard him quite well when he was telling some guys on the phone that he will pay them the balance of their last mission tomorrow. Or why do you think we arrived late? He was busy planning for..... "

"Will you shut the fvck up? " Lovelyn blurted out. "I think I know what you are trying to do here... "

"I'm trying to save us all Lovelyn... I've nothing to gain by lying to you.... You have already proven to me that you can help me by getting me out of prison and offering me a brilliant strategy to be a free man... So what would I gain from lying to you? If you can't see that what I'm doing is for our collective sakes then your brain should be grinded with maize and be used for poultry feeds."

"Darous... " Lovelyn called at me with a mean look that nearly made my heart jump out of its ribcage. She appears to remain unyielding with my claims. " You think I don't know what you are trying to achieve here? You want to.... "

"Lovelyn, trust me here. You have to trust me. I know what I'm talking about. That guy Capable is planning for us. He has plans.... "

"How do you know of his plans? Tell me if you want me to believe you... ". Jarter said with a less convincing look. I turned my attention to him. I gulped down the heavy saliva that just formed inside my mouth. Seriously, I never planned for this part. I wasn't expecting him to ask me this kind of question. I've underestimated him and I'm going to pay for it.

"You see, you don't even know what to say... ". Lovelyn jeered. Jarter bit his lips angrily at me. He gritted his teeth.

"You this bloody fool... " He roared ferociously. "No one lies against my men and live thereafter. I am going to teach you a lesson you will never forget."

I saw his mean face and instantly knew my time on earth is about to end.

"Dear calm down.. I think that's what he wants. But remember we need him to log in to his account... After then you can do whatever you want with him... ". Lovelyn advised.

" hey woman, leave me alone. If he's not going do it willingly, I will make him do it forcefully by myself. .. I'm going to teach this idiot a lesson. No one dares to blackmail the mighty Jarter."

I quickly pushed the white plastic chair I was previously sitting on to one side so that I can be free.

Jarter started approaching me with rapid steps. His fist was clenched tight and his teeth were equally gritted.

I started looking for possible ways to escape. I don't know if I can take on this muscular man with my boxing experience. The slap he gave me earlier is still doing a jingle in my head.

4.THE DOG ATTENDANT [T. D. A] by Darous Emmanuel.

The first thing my eyes settled upon inside the untidy room was two people. They were both sitting comfortably on two white plastic chairs that wasn't too far from each other. One was a man and the other was a woman.

The face of the man represents everything called thuggery. Battered nose and a disfigured right cheeks. The lamp that was placed on one side of the table made sure I saw that quite well even in my semi-panick state. He had on a colored sleeveless vest and a black hat.

The face of the woman beside him wasn't clear at the time as the light coming from the lamp didn't shone directly in her direction. Maybe that wasn't part of the deal the lamp signed with the person that switched it on or perhaps, it was merely following the instructions from its switchingnitor..

The whole room was smelling of cigarette and alcohol, hence the presence of two bottles of Sea King on the table that was situated in the middle of the room.

"Ki lo de ti e fi pe bayi?" The man sitting on the plastic chair voiced out in the local dialect with a thick and marijuana-sponsored tone. Literally means "what took you so long?" He paused briefly and continued in the same local dialect but let me just contact Don movies for the subtitles. Using the subtitle application from Don movies, here we go then.

The man continued in the subtitled version courtesy of Don movies. "We've been expecting you since thirty minutes ago. Capable," He called out and settled his confused gaze on the man behind me. "what happen? why is the news of this mission on the radio? You told me that this operation will not create any problem. Why is it now on the news?"

The man behind me stepped forward a little and gave the man a thuggery greeting sign. "Ah, baba Jarter, no vex, ah beg," The guy called Capable stated with hands raised.

"I'm not angry but you can't blame me for getting worried. I told you that I don't want to have anything to do with the police anymore... Eh? Do you know how much of naira I'm spending on this thing? Are we even safe here at all?"

"Baba, nothing dey happen baba, this place safe die... Trust m, na my Abete be this baba " Capable replied enthusiastically.

" By the way where is Coupon and Surebet?" Jarter asked.

"Baba nla, na why we tey be that. Coupon mess up inside the prison. He don make way baba nla. Na spanner lost be hin case. Surebet don complete hin own level and Audley Samson don go meet hin boss for office. But no yawa baba mi, everything still set."

Jarter was briefly silent with an expressionless face. Surely, he was not happy.

"How will you complete the mission na? " Jarter asked with an index finger pointed at me. His tone indidcated that he's worried.

Capable took some steps forward and got behind the man. He started whispering to the man's ear as the man's face remained fixed on me.

"Who are these people?' I asked myself during the little time Capable was spending with Jarter. 'What do they want from me? Are they going to kill me? Chai' I panicked a little as that thought crossed my mind. Then I started surveying the whole room with frantic eyes, looking for possible means of escape in case the situation gets to a life threatening stage. I noticed that the planks used in building the place appeared to be very weak as the cracks on them are visible enough for scrutiny eyes to see. I also tried to see the face of the woman but it appears as if she was purposely hiding herself from me. Like she doesn't want me to see her and that little thought got me wondering who she could be. I had little time to ponder on that before Capable's voice cut across the room again.

"Baba nla, no problem insha Allah." Capable said and returned to my side. "I go do am"

"Ok... No lele, shey the coast is clear sha?" Jarter asked in a pidgin language that instantly terminates the contract of Don movie.

"Crystal baba nla...." Scorpion replied with a voice of enthusiasm. "I'm Capable baba.... Ehn gbe fun."

"Ok... that level dey that corner" Jarter said with a finger pointed at the back of the door. "Take it and wait for us on the bridge. We go join you soon." He instructed.

"But baba, bridge ke? What of this guy, how will you handle him? ". Capable voiced out his concern.

Jarter seized me up with a scrutiny look. "If he's anything my wife says he his, then I think he should be smart enough not to cause any problem or else he will be very sorry. You can go sha... " Jarter said finally and shortly after, the door produced a closing squeaking sound that signals the exit of Capable. I was now left in the hands of the remaining two people in the room.

"sit down na, why you stand like pikin wey never do him home work? ..." Jarter said to me calmly and pointed a white chair that was beside the wall to me.

I gave him a narrowed and furrowed gaze before I obeyed him reluctantly.

"Guy, my name na Jarter, the number one Shredman of every part of Ikorodu.... If you no sabi me, you no sabi anything, after MC Oluomo for Oshodi, na me be the next in rank for Ikorodu. Na me get that empire from there go reach Ajegunle to Agege to Ojodu to Mushin to Lekki to Gbagada to ....... "

" To hell with you Mr Jarter... Tell me why you brought me here! " I suddenly blurted out as I was feeling angry at everything he has been saying. But unfortunately, that proved to be a costly mistake as the next thing I saw was him plunging forward quickly towards me and like a flash, a heavy slap had landed on my cheeks.

"No one talks when Jarter dey talk! " He roared loudly and his voice could be felt across the whole room. I was visibly frightened as I grabbed my cheeks. "You dey craaaaaaaze for head? Pimples dey inside your brain ni abi stretch marks dey disturb your medulla oblangata?" He stressed vehemently at my face.

I rubbed my cheeks intermittently while my angry gaze remained locked on his oblong face.
The anger to retaliate logged into my mind after I'd gotten over the shock but the mere thought of him having a gun made me to quickly reconnect with my Calm Control Switch. C. C. S.

"Eh Jarter dear, Calm down please.. don't scare him too much na...." The woman beside him intervened and she placed her hands on his chest and started rubbing it. She did that for some seconds and the anger in Jarter begin to subside. Then she stood up slowly and started approaching me. She got to my front and I raised my gaze to meet her face and it was then that I received another shock after seeing her face more clearly, courtesy of the collision with the table by Jarter and that was what changed the direction of the lamp on it.

I was astonishingly distraught when my eyes settled on the face of someone I never thought I would ever see again in my life.

Standing comfortably with a graceful grin was Lovelyn, the cousin of Adedoyin.

* Wondering who is Lovelyn ? Okay, Let's refresh our memories about the woman called Lovelyn.

Lovelyn was the first woman I had sex with when I began this story. She was the woman that followed her boyfriend to the viewing center on the day I first met with Adejoke and her sister. Remember she followed me to my house after the pandemonium at the viewing center. We had sex together then and the following day, she told me she was traveling back to Osun state where her parents lived, but only to meet her days later at Adedoyin's house after the latter had came to bail me out of the police station and had taken me to her house based on safety precautions. Remember Adedoyin introduced her to me back then as her cousin. Also, remember Adedoyin nearly caught us together in the house when we were at the kitchen and since then, I never set my eyes upon her, but of course until today when I'm seeing her again.*

**Back from Memory lane*

She appeared very modest compared to the way she appeared years ago at the viewing center.

She smiled casually and placed her hands on my shoulder.

More beautiful I should say, as the colored Ankara attire she wore gracefully embraced all the embodiments of her body.

"Hi Darous, long time no see...." She said to me with another dimple-lated grin.

"Lo......lo.... Lovelyn?" I stuttered out in total shock as she appears to be the last person I expected to see there.

"Darous, good to see you again..."

"What are you doing here?" I queried curiously and got to my feet.

"Calm down, eh, tiger calm down." She stated calmly. " We are here to help you and that's why we broke you out." She stated as calmly as she could but it took me more than ten seconds to successfully digest the meaning of what she said. And when I did, I gave her a squinted look.

"We? Who are the We?"

"Me and my husband..." She said pointing to Jarter. Jarter was just looking at us without talking. He dragged the bottle on the table closer to himself and pour himself another drink while I stared on in confusion.

"Wait.... Wait, don't run me mad please... Let me breath small,...."

"Okay... " she said and shifted back a little.

"If I get you well now, the reason why you broke me out of prison was solely because you want to help me?"

"Do you want your freedom back? " She asked again and narrowed her eyes on my face. "or you want to spend the rest of your life rotting away inside the prison? And let your wife continue to use my Aunty's money and yours to enjoy her own life? " She stressed. Pain could be felt in the last part of her words.

"What kind of question is that? You know my answer to that already. " I answered sharply.

"Then if that's the case you won't have any problem with the proposal I brought for you... That's the main reason why I broke you out."

"Abeg, tell him Wetin we want make him do for us and stop these nonsense sweet talk.... " Jarter blurted out in a hardened tone that indicates his impatience.

"Darous, listen, you really need to be smart here.... sit down first... .." Lovelyn said and stared into my eyes.

I took in a deep breath and calmed down my nerves and quickly engaged my mind in a short thinking trip.
I sat down after thinking it through. No need to get angry now. At least I should first hear what she wants to say, then I can decide on what to do. They can't outsmart me when I'm playing it cool. That's for sure. Based on my past ordeals, they can only hurt me when I'm angry.

"Okay... " I finally said. "Let's hear it."

She grinned and quickly adjusted the length of her gown and sat on the table in the middle. That way she blocked my eyes access to view Jarter's countenance.

"You married my Aunty and she died. I heard she willed all her properties to you even though I don't know how that can be possible but that's not why we are here. " she paused to take a breath as I maintained my cool.
"I was outside the country since 5years ago, I was studying Banking and Finance in Canada all thanks to my husband here. That was why I wasn't aware of my sister's death until last year when I came back into the country. I heard everything about you and her and since then I've been looking for you. "

"Now that you've found me, what are you going to do?" I asked eagerly.

"We understand that all your properties now belongs to your wife, but again, that's not why I'm here.." She paused to pick something from the black bag beside the table. "This is why I'm here. " She said after she had brought out a big folder and a tiny device from the bag. she opened the folder and brought out a white paper "I don't know if you remember or not, but I'm sure you do. You still have an active account with Diamond Bank...shey you remember? ". She paused to study my face as her last words sank into my confused mind.

I couldn't believe what I'm hearing from her. Truly I have an account with Diamond bank. The money inside that account is nothing less than 2.7billion naira. I got the money from the sale of Adedoyin's shares with METCON groups. A very popular rubber industries from the U. K. I'd kept it there for like 2 and a half years now with the aim of making use of it one day.

That money is part of the main reasons why I've decided to embrace life again. It was part of the reasons why I decided to face my trials with open mind with the hope of getting back on my feet once I regain my freedom.

That money is also my only missile to get revenge on my ex-wife and her sister including that backbitting Lewis.

Since the day I remembered that money, I've kept it as a secret. There's no way anyone could know about it since the police have accidentally damaged my phone during the arrest.
And now, all of a sudden, out of no where, this Lovelyn from no where is telling me about it? Chai, heaven go weep today.

'Wait, shey dem use am swear for me ni? Na woman dey always supervise my temptations.. Wetin I do to deserve all this Feminexamination?'
"That look on your face, I take it that you remember? " Lovelyn's voice cuts into my thoughts.

Her question caught me unaware. I couldn't quite come up with the proper way to handle situation at that moment. But one thing I know is that I need to handle this with a careful and cautious mind else I risk loosing everything. First to my wife and now to these End-time couples.

"Lovelyn, how did you know of this? " I asked in a relatively cool voice that perfectly hides my anxiety.

"I was just about to tell you that. Presently, I work with Diamond bank. And in a few days time, Access bank is waiting to take over the ownership of our bank. So as a senior staff of the bank, there's literally nothing that goes behind my back in the bank. I came across your name just last week in our archives and since then I've been looking for ways to help you out. Because its only a matter of time before the bank contacts you to notify you if you still want to continue banking with us or you will withdraw your money. And we both know who's going to get that notification once they do... And mind you, with all the vital documents in her hands, she has unrestricted access to everything that belongs to you. All she needs to do to get your money is just to show interest in it... Chikena... And voila, your money is gone... I know you don't want that... "

Again, her words formed heavy meanings in my mind. I raised my gaze to the ceiling and closed my eyes. I wonder why my life is so full of unexpected twists and turns. I don't know what wrong I really did to deserve all these Nollywooded scenes that are taking turns in my existence. Even inside the hideous confines of the prison, fate and other bit**ching agents are still using touchlights to look for me... Na wa ooo.

Suddenly, right there inside that wooden room, the idea of depression and despair started approaching me, they got to my door steps with their younger sibling called suicide. I was about to invite them inside but the words of my Therapist that says "Whenever you are thinking of giving up, remember why you started" shut them out. And in that instance I knew I had to continue the fight. I knew its not yet time to give up. I'll rather let my ex-wife have access to my money rather than this greedy couple. Who even asked them to help me out? Its not as if I told them to help me. Certainly, they surely have an hidden agenda. A very dubious one at that. But thank Gawd for the lessons this life has taught me. They are going to regret ever toying with the son of thunder.

I summoned up courage as I prepared to talk.

"So now, what are your plans for me since you are my Godsent." I asked to their surprise.

They flashed each other a wide look before Lovelyn spoke.

"I always knew you are really smart." She remarked with a placid smile.

I grinned at her and settled my mind once again to hear what she wants to say.

"The thing is, it will be very difficult for you to have direct access to your account right now, not because you are awaiting trial, but because its next to impossible for you to appear at the bank in daylight to lay claims for your money. "

"So what do we do now? At least to prevent my wife from getting her hands on it." I played along.

She was silent for a minute or thereabout before she spoke.

"There's only one way"

"Which is? " I asked with attentive ears.

" It will definitely sound somehow to you but beleive me its the only option you have.... If you transfer the funds to my account, that way you can have access to it because I can easily withdraw it for you... . And that's why I have here with me a phone that has the Diamond Bank app installed on it. All you need to do is to log in with your online I. D and password. Then you can do the transfer. "

'Am I a fool?' I couldn't help but ask myself that rhetorical question after she stopped talking. ' wait does my face look like a foolish one?'

"You just have to trust me on this. Your money is more safer with me than your ex-wife and we both know it..." The woman said with a tone of confidence. I looked at her with a dead pan eye but she went on anyways. "You see, my husband and I spent a lot of money to get you out of that place. Apart from the 15million we've spent so far, there are still more to be spend if we are to make this mission a truly successful one. For example, once you agree to do this, we can fly you out of the country, get you a new identity with your own money and you can start afresh. You just have to trust me on this. Darous, I know you, you are smart and we both know this is the best chance for you to get out of that bloody prison... " She sighed and placed her hands at akimbo.

"Hmmmm" I cleared my throat after a brief while of silence. The man called Jarter was no longer drinking, his attention was now 101percent focused on me. Obviously, he was expecting me to make my decision quickly.

I smiled briefly and leaned forward on the chair. "So now, I have to choose between the deep blue sea which is you and the devil my ex-wife?"

"If that's how you see it, well no problem then, but know that it was this blue sea that you swimmed out of that prison... So if I were you, I will not hesitate to deal with the deep blue sea"

Truly, the devil is a woman. See how convinienlty this woman had perfected the art of Dupe.
Someone by the name of Debbie, a friend of mine once said, "Humans are creatures of habit with an insatiable need to see familiarity in other peoples actions. Your predictability gives them a sense of control. So to win them, you can only do one thing..... BE DELIBERATELY UNPREDICTABLE".

I smiled wickedly as those words flashed through my mind. This Lovelyn thinks I'm really a fool. Its time I prove her wrong. Although I don't know what's at stake for me here, but all the same I need to take a giant leap. How can you expect me to do such a thing? Transfer all my hope to your account with a vague hope that you don't betray me? Noooo... I can't take that anymore. I am done with people taking my innocent face for a sign of weakness.

3. THE DOG ATTENDANT. [T. D. A}]

The car started moving very fast on the rough road and so was the tension in my body.

All my life, I’ve never witnessed such before. The only time I’ve seen such a graphic scene was in the movies and those were plain acting. Not something very real and glaring as what just happened few moments ago. Someone that helped me out in my escape task, that gave me a new chance for my vengeance mission, shot dead by the man sitting beside me? I feel so bad. Really bad about the whole thing. How can you just bring out a gun and kill someone in cold blood like that? These guys are wicked. In fact they are wickeder than the police I was running from and certainly much more wickedest than the devil.

‘Who are these people by the way’ I asked myself that question with a side glance at the man beside me. He was the one that shot the warder that led me to him. His face was very mean and deadly. Fair in complexion but his actions are dark and unremorseful.

I wanted to ask him some questions but the fear of getting killed made me keep my mouth shut. Without using weapon, I should be able to handle him very well with my boxing techniques but the pistol in his hand will make sure I don’t get close to him to deliver any punch.

But still there are a lot of questions that needs answers. My past experience in situations like this should be enough to teach me something. If not anything, at least to be cautious of every happenings around me.

However, these scenarios are pregnant with questions that can only be delivered by this mean looking man. But evidently as he appeared, he’s not ready to enter the delivery room.

I placed my left fingers on the terrace of my nose. Yes, I mean the space between the nose and mouth. You know it right? That place that has a gutter-like feature in the middle? Got it right? OK… let’s continue.

I placed my fingers there and while stroking the gutter-like features, I engaged my brain in deep thinking.

‘Who is the woman on the phone? Her voice doesn’t sound familiar at all. How did she know my name? How did the phone got to that bush? How did she know that I was there at that time? Or did she know that I was going to be there and had planned it before hand? If so then how did she know exactly when to call? Argh, this is really frustrating. …… ‘ I sighed high to release a frustrated breath.

I clutched my head inside my palms and rested my elbow on my raised laps to give way for easy thinking.

‘The man that broke me out from the cell, who is he? How did he know my name also? He said something that really baffles me, he said he knows me very well. He also said he has eaten with me and dined with me several times.’
He said he knows how I think…’ How can that be possible? All these thought provoking statements by him can only be uttered by a friend but judging from his height, accent and stature, I don’t think I’ve seen him before not to talk of being friends with him.

Perhaps he’d said all that to get my attention. Maybe that’s it. It has to be. I don’t know him, its as simple as that. “Hmmmmmm” I released another breath and gave the man beside me another cursory glance. He wasn’t paying me any attention as his gaze was focused intently at the side of the glass window of the car.

It’s bad that the man that broke me out from the cell is not here right now to explain by himself. He must have been shot inside that shiithole.

Ah! This is serious, two people are dead already because of me and I don’t even know their names talk less of knowing them? Ahh! Darous, your life is really programmed to be mired in trouble all the time. Not even prison can stop troubles from paying you its homage. Na wa for you o.’ I communed to myself and a sorry grin took over the surface of my face.

The journey continued for some minutes and the silence lingered on for like thirty minutes before my mind suddenly snapped when my mind could no longer bear the nagging curiosity that has been disturbing it.

‘Wait, I don’t think this guy can hurt me if I ask him what’s bothering me. No way he would hurt me after going through all the impossibilities of breaking me out. Its illogical for him to hurt or kill me. Na question I wan ask no be fight. Patapata, he go say he no fit answer me. Person no dey die twice jare. I be son of thunder for a reason.

‘Courage mode activated' I told myself and did the sign of cross three times to further bolster my gradually increasing courage.

“Erm… Who are you people?” I asked in a very low tone that seemed as if the words were struggling to escape from my lips.

The guy beside me did not quite turn all the way to me but looked askance at me with his dark and fiery eyes.

‘Maybe he didn’t hear me’ I told myself after he had returned his attention towards the window.

I released another breath and got myself ready to ask again.

“I said who are you people?”

“You’ll know soon.” He replied very sharply without casting me another look.

“Huh-huh….” I stammered.

“What else?” He asked sharply with fury in his eyes.

“Erm, why did you kill that man?” I managed to pour that out.

“Because he has completed his task..” He answered again with lesser enthusiasm.

“What? That’s absurd… When did death became the reward for a job done?” I blurted out with a confused tone.

“Hey! That’s enough…. You can’t understand.” He stated firmly with what I perceived to be a stern voice but I wasn’t ready to bow out just yet.

“Hey, whether you like it or not, I’m already involved in this, and I demand to know everything because its…… “

“Silence!” He declared angrily. I could feel his hot breath on my left hand that was closer to him. Evidently, he was very angry.

“Where do you think you are? Who do you think you are talking to? Thank your stars that my client doesn’t permit me to rough handle you, you would have been sorry we….” The ringing of a phone interrupted his vexative mood. “Is that your phone? Cosmos?” He was directing his question to the driver who was all the while silent on what was going on in the car.

“Yes… My boss is calling me… Let me park and pick it.” The driver said and he swerved the car to the parking side of the dusty road.

“Hello sir” The driver spoke to the phone and was silent for some minutes before speaking again. “I’m erm..at home sir………………….” He was silent again. “Whaaaaaaat!... How did that happen” Silence again. “geeeeeeeze….” Silence again. “ok................ Ok sir….. I will be there shortly sir……. Ok sir…… Right away…… I will inform other stations to be on alert sir……… Ok sir.” Call ends.

“What did he say?” The man beside me queried curiously.

The driver placed the phone on the dashboard of the car and turned his neck backwards to face us before speaking. “My boss says I should come to the office right now. He was telling me what happened at the prison we just broke this guy out from.”

“Are you sure he’s unaware of your involvement in this?” The man beside me asked with a skeptical tone.

“No..no..no” The driver nodded his head negatively. “He will not be telling me to handle the investigation myself if he knew…. I know my boss.” He squeezed his lips together before returning his attention to the steering wheel.

“They are still trying to find out who the prisoner is and that’s a big plus for us… They will do a head count tomorrow for sure…. But what are we going to do now? I need to get to my boss immediately before he starts getting suspicious.” The driver stated without turning his head to us.

I was silently attentive to the whole thing happening right inside the car. But I was surprised to find out that the driver was a police officer. A high ranking one for that matter. But what got me very confused was how the people behind my escape managed to pull all this stunts together.

What exactly do they want from me? Nooo… To hell with that my vengeance talk. This is far more than that. Who could be behind all these? To the extent that a senior police officer and a commanding warder was involved in this?’

“Time for plan B” The voice of the man beside me cut into my thoughtful mind. “Drop us at the second base and you can take the other car to the office. I will take this guy to my clients myself.” He concluded and rested his back on the backrest of the car. The driver obliged instantly and returned the car to the road.

Moments of silence followed until the car came to a halt in front of a small bungalow after spending more than fifteen minutes on the road.

A blue Chevrolet was parked at the rear side of the house. The driver quickly got out of the car and the man beside me joined him at the other end. The doors were locked immediately both men stepped out of it.

They both engaged in some silent discussions for a few minutes before the man beside me returned to the car, except this time, he didn’t return to my side, he got into the driver’s seat and settled down into it. He locked all the doors before giving me a white celestial garment.

“What for?” I queried with a narrowed gaze at his dark eyes.

“Quickly put it on. We need to hide your identity, this your prison cloth will attract people to us.” He stated quickly and waved at the other man that just drove out in the blue Chevrolet.

I starred at the garment for a brief while before deciding to put it on.

The man displayed a satisfactory grin after I’d finished wearing the oversized white garment.

“Listen to me very carefully Darous, its only a matter of time before we get to the meeting point. If you really want to stay alive you need to be at full cooperation with me.” He uttered in a tone that depicts more warning than advise.

“But how do you expect me to cooperate with you when I really don’t know what’s going on. Who are you people? And who is the client you are talking about? Why all these risks just to get me out of prison? And please cut that crap about my vengeance mission and all sorts. I need explanation… A detailed one for that matter.” I ended in an evidently frustrated tone before scratching my beards-covered neck.

“I understand you perfectly. I will also feel the same way if I were in your…..” He was still saying when the vibration of his phone interrupted him. He picked the call and spoke with the caller for a few minutes before returning the phone to his brest pocket.

“Where we are going is just twenty minutes away. That’s where all your questions will be answered. I’m not entitled to answer any question from you. Are we clear?” He asked with a stressed tone.

I wanted to probe further but I just decided to play it cool. At least, its only a matter of minutes.

All these are just complicated pointers to the mystery of the situation which is waiting to be solve within the hour. Patience is a great virtue.

The atmosphere was very windy and gloomingly gloomy. Every actions of the weather signals the herald of what appears to be a teary night.

The cold temperature emanating from the river below further sends a torrent of tension to my already nervous body.

The bridge was dark and silent. The long bridge was totally devoid of human activities. Evidently, it was the darkest hour of the night.

The moon that was shinning earlier has now allowed itself to be covered by the cloudy blanket. Maybe it was also scared of what’s to come and it has decided to seek shelter behind the cloud.

There I was, sitting nervously at the back of a strange car with a stranger, in a strange hour of the night and about to meet someone I believed to be a stranger.

This time last night, I was already snoring my life away on top the cold floor of the Oba prison. A place I’ve already come to terms with to start calling my new home. I was still awaiting trial, and my next court sitting was only months away but apparently, in a matter of hours, I will be declared a wanted man.

Death, taxes and Darous getting into trouble even when he never expects it are three surest things of life.
Life holds very few certainties for any of us, but seeing the son of thunder taking a starring role in dangerous situations like this is about as close to a given as it gets.

Gradually, the speed of the car starts to reduce on the long and silent bridge.

After covering some kilometers on the bridge, the man driving the car stopped it when it got to the extreme end of the bridge where the railings end. He pulled out of the car and opened the backside where I was sitting nervously.

He pointed his gun to my face and fear instantly struck my heart after seeing the deadly look on his face.

I started panicking and shaking vigorously. I was scared he’s going to kill me and dump my body into the river. Someone must have paid him to do so. Someone that thinks my existence still poses a threat to him. Someone that’s interested in having what I left behind. Someone that loves what I love. Someone that is a genius at planning things like this. Someone that has the financial capacity to pull all these strings just to end my life to get what he wants. Maybe someone that wants Adejoke, my ex-wife.
Maybe someone in the name of Lewis.

Jide had told me last week when he came to see me inside the prison that Lewis and Adejoke are now very close. He said hardly will a day go by without Lewis going to Joke's house. I’d ward off the information because I believe Adejoke can never stoop so low to the extent of having an affair with a fool like Lewis.

Maybe I was wrong. Maybe Lewis isn’t a fool after all. Maybe I was the real fool for thinking such things can never happen. Maybe I’m about to pay for that with my life.

“Get out!” The man shouted with a very mean tone. I was startled and scared to the bone.

“pl… please….. Pleas…. Don’t… don’t….. Don’t….kill me…. I beg you in the name of your mother…. Pleaaaaaaseeeeeee…..” I pleaded with trembling voice. The fear of dying without setting my eyes on my child again sent my knees to the floor in that awkward instance.

“Quiet!” He roared at me and dragged me up with the garment I was putting on. He used the heel of his left boot to close the car door and positioned himself at my back while I face the north of the bridge.

My whole body was tensively covered in cold sweats. I surrendered my hands in the air and before I could even think of kneeling down, the man behind me pushed me forward.

“move slowly and gently… if you try to run, I will shoot you down.” He warned declaratively.

I started moving gently and every step I took portrayed the level of apprehension in me.

He guided me to one dark corner of the bridge where a concrete step was situated. A step that leads to the underground.

The man behind me used the mouth of his gun to push me forward from the back as a sign that he wants me to follow the step.

I shook my head pitifully and closed my eyes when the awful reality of what’s about to happen dawned on my apprehensive mind.

“This is where it all ends… at least, death will bring me the peace I never had in life….” I muttered to myself in total feeling of despair.

I made a quick silent wish. A wish that I never come to this world again.

I finished the step and so was my unfriendly escort.
We rounded another dark corner where a wooden hut was situated. The door was slightly opened and the man behind me told me to stop. He got to my side while his gun was still pointed at my fear-stricken face and checked his phone. Then he suddenly pushed me ferociously against the wooden door making my head to bang against it in the process. The door opened with a loud squeak after the pressure that was applied on it. I staggered inside and fell face flat on the muddy floor.

I quickly got myself up as my eyes were trying to adjust to the darkness in the room.

Suddenly, a light from a lamp illuminated the room and my eyes were once again very fast to settle on the UNEXPECTED.

2. THE DOG ATTENDANT. (T. D. A)

The sound of the gunshot was so vibrating to the extent that it shook the ground I was standing on. It further extended its unpleasant effect on every fiber of the frame of the door I was about to open.

The first thing that came into my mind after the sound of the gunshot was to go back to check what or where or whom the bullet had hit but I knew it will be a very stupid thing to do if I decided to check on the above three W's that I mentioned.
Hence I quickly opened the door and dashed outside into the compound.

Everything inside the compound was exactly as pre-described by the unidentified man.

During my stay inside the prison, I never set my foot on this part of the place. Even during our daily laborsome works, the warders never brought us to this place.

My eyes were very sharp to locate the big rubber tank beside the tree and I was very swift in using it as a ladder to scale the tall fence.

The moon was half full in the sky and it appeared to be doing all its possible best to gain promotion from the angels in charge of the Planetary works of Gawd seeing as it was very effective in its duty at that time of the night, and all thanks to it, I was able to land on the other side of the fence with no injury sustained.

The other side was mainly covered in thick bushes and some well arranged mahogany trees.

My new surroundings sent my mind into a confused state. I didn’t know which way to go as everywhere was covered in bushes of my height and even more.

Unfortunately, I had little time to dwell on that confused mode as I begin to scamper around for which directions to take when some angry voices from where I’d just escaped from began to fill the air.

Electoral tension filled my candidative mind as the noises begin to get nearer and louder to my position.

The fear of what would happen to me if I was caught terrified me immensely. The fear of not getting a chance at my vengeance mission terrified me to my bone marrow.

My rumpled green prison cloth was covered in sweats as the tension increased. I could even hear my own heartbeat with little or no straining of the ear.

This went on for some moments before something unexpected happened.

“It might seem crazy what I’m ‘bout to say.” The sound of that ‘HAPPY' music by Pharrell Williams suddenly blurted out of no where and it nearly sent my already apprehensive mind into a coma of tension.

“what’s that tank doing there?” That statement came from inside the compound and I realized its only a matter of seconds before they discover me in the open.

Quickly, I got over the shock and started looking for the source of the sound or I risk it attracting the attention of those that are looking for me directly to my location.

I calmed my mind and settled my eyes on the tiny spaces between the bushes.

Fortunately, I saw a blinking red light from the bushes and started heading towards it as careful and silently as I could. The music was coming from a phone speaker and it wasn’t more than five foots away.

How the phone got there remained a mystery at that moment but survival first before anything else.

The thorn stems that dominated the larger percentage of the bush made it very hard to get to where the sound was coming from but not even that can stop a determined mind that’s bent on escaping at all cost.

“Sunshine she’s here, you can take a break” The music continued.
“I’m a hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air, like I don’t care baby by the way
Huh, because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you……” It was my palm that covered the speaker side of the phone that ebbed the music. It was an incoming call from a hidden number and I quickly picked it in a frantic attempt to settle the curiosity my mind.

“hello?” A female voice asked from the other end of the phone.

“Hello…?” I answered quietly.

“Darous…….” The female voice came again.

“yes…. Who…” I was still saying when I began to hear multiple footsteps coming to my direction with the aid of headlights.

“Get him boys or your heads will roll…!!” A thick voice ordered and a multiple search-ative movements followed that life-threatening order.

The tension in my body gave me no warning before it escalated into a multiple folds.

I began to sweat instantly. My mouth has dried. My throat was longing for water. My brain was also longing for water to quench the burning fire of tension in it but apparently, the only extinguisher that can do those tasks lies within my legs.

“Darous…. What are you waiting for!” The female voice on the phone shouted to snap me into action.

“Sergeant Victor…. Your 9 o’clock!” A voice shouted from nearby and without hesitation, I plunged into the bush and started running as fast as I could not minding the thorns that was cutting my legs.

Gunshot sounds filled the air immediately and that further gave me the nitro boost to run more faster in no particular direction on the ill-asphalted bush.

Gradually, the space between me and the policemen began to increase as I continue to run faster and faster because of the gunshots.

I always say it, if you really want to know the fastest man alive, you don’t do it by merely arranging Olympic games.

This is how to do it. Arrange everybody on a line and place a machine gun behind us. Announce that anybody that comes last will be killed, and you will be shocked when Usain Bolt himself will be the one to receive the bullet. Na gun we dey talk na. Something wey no fear hell fire. Something wey no get friend. Something wey no get sense. Abeg, let’s continue the story jare, cos I dey vex. Usain Bolt ko, Usain nuts ni.

I ran furiously, crazily and mad-inly for survival. As I run past every available bush, I could feel and hear resonantly how the bullets were piercing the standing trees by the road side.

My mind was racing very fast with a lot of thoughts as I continued my run on the bushy walkway while the phone was still clutched in my watery hand.

“Get to the main road as fast as you can, I’ll pick you up..” My hand must have accidentally pressed the loudspeaker icon on the screen of the phone which prompted the loud instruction that just came out of the phone.

“Maneuver him!” Another command came from behind me. I stopped abruptly when I heard that as I was feeling so confused on what next to do.

I found a big tree that wasn’t too far away from where I was. I took a quick survey around to see how close my pursuers are to me.

I saw that the nearest headlight was few distance away. I calculated my chances of getting to that tree and realized that there was no way I could get there without getting caught.

I was panting heavily and gasping for breath.

“hey….” I heard that silent whisper from my rear side and was so shocked with what I was seeing.

A cladded warder in his green uniform was offering me a headlight.

“hurry up and put this on…. Take it!” He stated sharply when he noticed my reluctance. “trust me, you don’t want to get caught by those policemen.” He added quickly.

You can’t blame me though, I’ve been betrayed too much to the extent I can no longer identify genuine acts of kindness from fake ones.

“Darous… what are you waiting for? Follow him…” The voice of the lady on the phone boomed out again.

Before I knew it, the warder had grabbed my hand very fast and he was so swift and quick to strap the headlight on my head.

“follow me… your escape guarantees the safety of my job.” He said hurriedly and I was left to wonder who was pulling all these strings.

I had little time to ponder on the quadratic equations that life just dropped at the door steps of my kindergarten brain as the warder pulled me forward and started taking me into another direction.

“A car is waiting for you outside this bush…” The warder informed while we were still running in the bush.

We didn’t encounter any difficulties on the way as this warder seems to know every nook and crannies of this jungle. Even the policemen that were chasing after me has probably lost my trail seeing as the only sound being heard at that time were that of our running footsteps and heartbeat sounds.

Several minutes spent on the escape mission before we saw a very dimmed light from the narrow end of the bush.

“Thank Gawd, they are here already….” The warder announced happily and that news sent a glimpse of relief into my tired body.

“are you sure no one followed you?” The man that met us when we got to the car asked the warder that led me to the car.

“Positive sir. No one… I know every bit of this ground like my wife’s brest.” The warder said gleefully.

“okay… you can go now…” The new man said and held my hand in an attempt to push me inside the car.

“erm… erm…” The warder stuttered. The man holding me turned to face him.

“You will get your balance the same way you got the advance payment.” The man holding me said to him and a disappointed look appeared on the face of the warder.

The man pushed me inside the back seat of the car and followed suit. He signaled for the driver to start the engine.

Like a flash, I washed with alarming eyes as the man beside me pulled out a gun and fired two quick silent shots at the warder that led me to the car. The warder dropped a silent but agonizing sound before dropping to the ground.

“move!” The man beside me ordered the driver and wind up the glass.

“What’s going on?” I queried out to myself.

THE DOG ATTENDANT [T. D. A] 1.

The iron door to the cell opened with its typical fizzling sound.

Even though it was opened very slowly, it still managed to produce that sneaky fizzling sound.

It was already dark inside the cell and one would need to strain one’s eyes beyond its programmed limits before one would be able to see clearly.

Just as I was about to carry out the task I mentioned above, the voice of the intruder boomed out from the darkness and a flashlight was pointed directly at my face.

“Darous, get up….!” The voice ordered in what seemed like a whisper.

The bright flashlight emanating from the phone the intruder was holding made it absolutely impossible for me to see who the intruder was as I was trying desperately to recognize the voice.

“hurry up and don’t make any sound!” The intruder stated more like a command than a statement.

“Have you come to kill me?” I couldn’t stop myself from blurting that out as I managed to disengage my body away from the flocks of fellow inmates that were already snoring their lives out on the cold floor.

“Sharaaaaaap…. Don’t make a sound….” The intruder said with a whispering tone but more sternly.

I wanted to resist but before I could even blink, I felt his strong arm grabbing my shoulder and dragging me up.

“Follow me…. Don’t make any sound, your longtime wish is about to come true…..” He said and pushed me forward.

“My longtime wish?” I queried myself but it was as if the intruder was reading my mind when he said,

“Your vengeance wish is about to be fulfilled.”

Hearing that was like a catapult for my David. I quickly got myself up on my feet and began to follow the directives of the intruder without making any noise.

We passed through the iron bar without creating any sound, of course with the aid of the key the intruder was holding in his hand. We entered a narrow alley that has no light. I could barely see my own steps on the floor of the dark passage but the intruder escorting me made sure I never mistook any step.

“Who are you?” I blurted out curiously without turning around or stopping in my tracks.

“I said don’t make any sound or we will both be dead….” He warned with a stern voice before putting off the flashlight. The whole place was now covered in total darkness.

“nooo…” I declared vehemently and turned around to face him. He quickly raised the light to my face so I wouldn’t be able to see his face.

“I’m going no where not until I know who you are…” Boldly I voiced out.

“Do you want to get us killed?”

“how do I know you are not the killer?” I challenged.

There was a momentary silence after my last statement and the intruder seemed to be pondering on my words as he could be heard humming a distorted sound.

“show me who you are now or else I’m gonna scream and wake everybody up.”

“Darous, listen…” he spoke softly. “After all the betrayals that was done to you, I understand why you are having doubts but please trust me on this, I will show you my face once we are outside these walls. Seeing my face now will not make it any less easier for you to escape.”

“Why do you say that” I asked softly but with a skeptical tone.

“Cos I know you soo well Darous, I’ve drink and dined with you. I know how you think, so please don’t get us killed before we reunite. I beg yooooooou…” He pleaded emphatically.

I wanted to insist on knowing who he is especially after he said he had drink and dined with me, but the latter part of his statement made me kept my brush-denied mouth shut.

I shrugged and obliged with his points, so I turned around slowly and continued the walk.

We rounded the last corner that leads to where I assumed to be the exit of the big prison wall, but as we were approaching the exit door we suddenly heard a voice from behind.

“stop right there…!” The voice commanded with a very thick tone that teleported thick shivers of cold down my spine. I could hear the disappointing gasp that immediately escaped from the mouth of the man leading my escape mission.

A bright flash light coming from behind us was the next thing that fully registered the presence of the newest intruder into our midst.

I tried to turn around but the strong hand of the man behind me hindered me from doing so.

He quickly shoved me to a hidden corner of the dark passage after which he placed something that felt like a gun to my hand as we were both panting heavily.

“Darous, listen to me carefully. ” He stated hurriedly but in a silent tone. “This is how far I can go…. I will help you create a distraction for….”

“identify yourselves right now or your obituaries will be gracing the walls very soon….” The thick voice of the new intruder threatened impatiently hence interrupting the words of the man before me.

“listen to me carefully, take this gun, and this key, open that door. You will enter a big compound. Once you’re inside the compound, you will find a big rubber tank behind the mango tree at your left hand side. Push it to the wall and use it to scale the fen….”.

“are you both deaf?” The intruder interrupted again. “I said come out and show your faces before I waste my breath on counting one to three!.” The intruder roared again in a ferocious tone that depicts every siblings of the irrational being called IMPATIENCE.

My heart was beating very fast as the intruder continued to threaten us. I could feel the hot breath of the man before me on my face like an oven breeze.

“one!”

The intruder counted but the man before me doesn’t seem to care as he just continue to give out instructions that I was no longer listening to.

“two!”

I started regretting my decision to follow this man. Death is the only penalty that awaits anyone caught trying to escape from this godforsaken hell. Had it been this had happened some months ago when the suicide thoughts were still having a contract with my depressed mind, I would have gladly do everything possible to make sure I became an heaven-narian in that awkward instance.

“Do you understand?” The voice of the man before me jolted me back to reality.

“I….I….” I stuttered with a trembling voice as I couldn’t pick out anything in what he had said in the past seconds.

“Time up, I’m coming for you….” The intruder said angrily and his words were quickly escorted by heavy footsteps.

“get out of here now…. For the sake of your wife and child…. Goooo…!” The man shouted at me and I quickly found the zeal and strength to carry out the task he just imposed on me.

“I need to get out of here… at least for their sakes…..” I mumbled to my self as I quickly disengage myself from the man and started running towards the exit door like a furious bullet.

I placed my hand on the door handle but as I was about to open the door, a gunshot disrupted the task.

Family / Is It Appropriate For 18+ Lady To Wash Her Father's Under wear? by TheBlessedMAN: 2:04pm On Mar 30, 2019

Hey fellas, it was what happened at my friend's house this week that gave birth to the questionic topic above.

His girlfriend arrived to his place two hours late in contrary to the agreed time.

So the lady gave an excuse to him that she was busy at home.

My friend asked to know the main thing that kept her busy and it was then that she said she was helping her tired mother to wash her father's clothes.

Her exact words were, "I spent a lot of time soaking and washing the jeans but the underwears gave me little stress".

That was what started the argument between her and my friend.

My friend said its not proper to do so as a grown up adult of 23years.

But the lady countered by saying there's nothing wrong in helping one's parent with petty chores like that.

Now, fellas, what do you think?

THE DOG ATTENDANT.

PROLOGUE.

The judge adjusted his golden-colored wig with his right hand in preparation to pronounce the final judgement. I slammed my eyes shot in anticipation of what’s to come. This is definitely an inevitable moment of my life. There’s nothing anyone can do to avert or stop this mafia-lic looking judge from pronouncing his final judgement.
Its been almost three hours of standing inside the box and my feet were already tired of doing their jobs.

Ironically, Instead of getting scared or afraid or apprehensive in anticipation of what’s to come, I was just as calm as the night sea.
You want to know why I was calm during such a dreadful moment of my life?

Okay, lets cool some raging curiosities.

Three months ago was the third sitting of my case. Everyone already knew that the judge was going to give me the death sentence, but all thanks to the timely intervention of my therapist, who against all odds was able to provide a concrete evidence to the court. An evidence that backs up the vehement claim of my lawyer that I was truly suffering from a grave mental illness, hence the reason behind my suicide actions. The judge however had no choice than to adjourn the case to this day after going through the evidence provided by my lawyer.

Moreover, my lawyer, evidently reveling in that development, has assured us that nothing on this earth can stop the judge from annulling the case in my favor. Maybe that assertion by my lawyer was sponsored by the recent payment my friends paid to him or it was sponsored by his professionalism or experience still remains an absolute mystery. Nevertheless, the latter seems to be the case.

So now you see why I was calm like an olosho pusea that is waiting for a four inches d*ck to enter.

I bowed down my head briefly and raised it up again to cast a cursory look around and my eyes was sharp enough to collide with my mother's teary and fear stricken face. I couldn’t help but feel pity for the poor woman. My adulthood has brought nothing but pain to her life.

She’s in her early fifties, and a thorough scrutinized look at her face will make you think she’s ten years older than Nigeria's independence age. My sister and younger brothers were sitting close to her. They were doing their combined best to make sure she doesn’t faint again like she did on the day of my arrest. Or let me say the birthday of the woman that wickedly betrayed me.

I slammed my eyes shot and swallowed the pain and agony that just crept inside my heart as the memories of that awful day revisited my mind.

The surprise, the shocking revelation I was compelled to watch on the screen, the feeling of betrayal and guilt which was immediately followed by the uncontrollable feeling of anger that made me decide to end my own life. That day was so terrible.

Those stupid police ought to have allowed me to end it right there, right inside that hall. They shouldn’t have interfered in my unilateral decision to end my life.

“They should have let me use the only bullet in that gun to end my life instead of making me waste it on that filthy a**hole.” I murmured to myself as my eyes still remained locked on my mum's, whose eyes was all the while focused on the activities of the mafia-looking judge. Her body dialect will tell you that she was extremely nervous and apprehensive at the same time.

Seeing her in that sorry state made me remember what Therapist Sarah told me on the day she came to see me in prison and I was still hell bent on committing suicide.

°°°°Flash Back To Few Months Ago. °°°°

“you keep saying you don’t want to see your mother because you can’t bear to see the pains and sufferings you’ve brought upon her and yet you want to kill your self. In your own twisted way of reasoning, you probably think that’s the most honorable thing to do, right? … but its not. Believe me Darous, its not. In actual fact, it’s the most wicked thing to do to your own mother after everything she has gone through for you. Take for example, Just see how devastating your present situation has been treating her, now imagine what would happen to her once the news of your death reaches her?” Sarah said and gave my face a deep stare.

“I know it will pain her, but she will still be alive and that’s the most important thing. It might take her a few days to embrace my death but last last, she go dey alright. She no fit kill herself na” I argued.

“oh! I see…. Now you think its only you that knows how to kill yourself? You think its only you that knows how to use death as a means to escape from impending disasters? No… no…no.. I don’t think so. I bet your mum won’t live three hours after the news of your death.”

It took me more than three minutes to process her words in my fvcked up mind. It was as if my brain's marriage to sanity was restored after hearing those words from my therapist. I couldn’t imagine myself being the cause of my own mother’s death. I couldn’t imagine being responsible for the reason why my younger ones will become a full time orphans. I know my brothers would be fine after some months of struggle without my mother, but my little sister, - who happens to be the most brilliant of us and presently doing her masters – will never be okay. Not only because of the bond between mother and daughter, but the realization of being all alone in this big and cruel world will crush her determined mind beyond repair.

I still remembered how it took her and my mother a lot of months to get over our father’s death. I just couldn’t bring myself to imagine how horrible the situation of my after death would be for both of them.
No! I can’t be responsible for that. That’s the height of wickedness. I can’t ruin a lot of lives because my own appeared to be worthless to me. Killing myself now is definitely going to be a polygamous disaster.

“But…how… how… how will I get out of this?” I bit my lips and tried my best to keep the tears from escaping down my cheeks. “How am I supposed to face the burdens of sorrow and damnation that awaits me?” I cried out at my listening therapist and shifted my teary face to the ground. I remained in that position for more than ten seconds before I felt a palm underneath my jaw. I raised up my face and my eyes quickly connected with my therapist emotional face.
Sarah smiled casually and held my thumbs which I placed on the table between us while our eyes was still locked on each other. “Look at me… look at me… “ She said when she sensed that I was trying my best to avoid her gaze.
Hesitantly, I complied and she continued.

‘When Fate whispers to the Warrior and says, ‘hey Warrior, you cannot withstand this storm,’ do you know what the Warrior told him?” She inquired from me with a soft tone.
I nodded my head negatively in reply.
“The Warrior looked straight into the terrifying eyes of Fate and whispered back saying ‘I don’t have to, cos I’m the STORM.’…”she chuckled and tickled my palm which was still inside hers. “now, Darous, you are the warrior. And going by everything you’ve ever been through in the hands of Fate and Karma…. ”

“Hmmm, those devil’s senators.” I chipped in.

“you are absolutely right. They are indeed the devil’s senators. With everything you have been through in their hands? And you are still alive? I believe you are stronger more than you think. Apart from that, If you die now, then it means they have won. Everyone that has ever conspirator-ly contributed to your present situation have won. Not only against you, but against all those that would be affected by your demise.” She paused and continued. “ you can’t die now cos I believe you have a task at hand. A task to make the world see the truth. A task to make the world see that you are not entirely at fault in this issue.” She ended and sighed deeply as she sniffed in at the same time.

“But this world has not been fair to me in anyway. What makes you think I owe it anything? … even self, how do I stand up against it now?” Tiredly and confusedly, I cried out again.

“First you should know this. Every end marks a new beginning. Keep your spirit and determination unshaken and you will surely walk the glory path. This world has a lot of agents working for it. Where it has Karma it has Courage. Where it has Fate, it has Faith. Where it has Destruction it has Determination. Where it has Sorrow, it has Smiles. You just need to figure out which of these agent you want in your life.”

“wait, you make it sound as if I have a choice to choose whichever I want among these agents. Or you think I would choose this path if I have any chance to choose at all?” I lamented with an exasperated tone.
She processed my lamentations briefly before deciding to talk.

“Listen, I am not trying to blame you. But what do you think would have happened assuming you didn’t agree to the sugar mummy business that your friend introduced you into?”
She asked but I was unable to reply her as I was deeply in thought.
“as far as I’m concerned, that decision still remains the genesis of your problems. Or what do you think?”.

“I.. I think you are right..” I stammered.

“that’s what I’m saying. Now you see that you had a chance to choose. But that’s gone now.. We should be looking for solutions. Okay… now, where are we?”

“Madam, time is up… I want to return the prisoner.” We were interrupted by the voice of the warder.
Sarah shifted her attention away from me and gave the warder an angry look.

“Mr Godwin, I thought I have corrected you several times that until proven guilty, and sentenced, he’s not to be called a prisoner…” Therapist Sarah flared at him as he got closer to our position.

“So you wan tell me say here na hin papa house? Abi na hin mama build this prison?”

“noooo…”

“Madam, leave that sh*t abeg.” The warder fired again. “Anybody wey dey stay inside prison na prisoner.” He argued.

“which also translate to you too… you can also be called a prisoner right? Since you spent more times here than outside these walls.”

“me ke? Me no be prisoner na, me dey work for here. I dey collect salary. Na salary carry me reach here, if no be salary I no go dey here. But this man na criminal…. “ He pointed at my face.
I was expecting Sarah to argue further but for some reasons she just picked her bag and brought out her purse. She opened it and brought out a wade of 500naira notes. She counted twenty and placed it on the table. She returned the purse to her bag and looked up to Mr Godwin’s face.

“That money is all yours if you agree to let me spend ten more minutes with him…”
Mr Godwin's eyes shone widely as those words formed meanings in his ears.

“You… you mean am? “ He stuttered after glancing around to see if someone else was watching or listening to us.
“100percent…” Sarah replied with an assuring tone.
Keenly, I watched as Mr Godwin hurriedly packed the money and started filling his pockets.
Sarah had a funny look on her face all the while and I couldn’t help but wonder the reasons she had for spending such amount of money to have just ten more minutes with me.

“Thank you ooo…. You are free to sleep here ganself if you like..” Mr Godwin stated as he was about to leave. “You can rent my mat if you wan sleep here.”

“But I thought you told my friends yesterday that your bosses will flog you if they know that you allowed a visitor to overstayed the allotted five minutes.” I voiced out surprisingly and the man turned around with a funny smirk dancing zanku on his oblong face.

“Flog? For ten thousand naira? Make dem flog me… dem go flog flog flog the cane go tire. For ten thaaaasan? Make dem flog me. I no send.” He ended and went out through the exit.
A moment of silence followed before I spoke.

“What’s that for?” I asked Sarah in a confused tone.

She smiled again at me. “That’s to show you that you don’t have to be inside a place like this before you can be termed as a prisoner. That man is a prisoner to money. People like him will do anything for the sake of money.

“hmmmm…”

“so, as I was saying before the interruption, you have to stop seeing the world the way it is. You should start seeing it the way you are. You have to show the world that you are tougher than it. Show the world that nothing it does can stop you from achieving your aims and trust me, you will have the last laugh. Because the world steps aside for a man who knows where he’s going.”

“And you think I can do this alone?”

“noo, I don’t expect you to. Surely you will need these people to aid you in everything… and they are already living within you. All you need to do is to embrace their help. With Courage, determination, and effort, you shall get their. Darous, I implore you as I would implore any one I love to persevere, endure more and this fight will be won.”
She ended conclusively and the next few minutes were spent in total silence as I was left to deliberate intensively on her words.

At the end of that day, I was able to have a new perspective of this world. Instead of dying, I wanted to live. Instead of running away from my trials, I was now determined to face them squarely. More importantly, I now have a task at hand. A task so simple and straight. A task to make my consipirators pay for everything they have done, regardless of how much they ever meant to me.

°°°BACK TO PRESENT°°°

“After the hearings from both the Defense counsel and the accused counsel…. “ The judge's voice echoed across the whole court hall as he prepared to continue with his verdict and my attention was immediately returned to him.
The whole diameter of the hall was now covered in absolute silence.
My heart was pounding heavily against my chest. I was so apprehensive all of a sudden. Maybe it was because I realize I no longer want to die without fufiling the new task at hand.

“For the charge of the murder of one Mrs Adedoyin… “ The judge continued. “Which was leveled against you Mr Darous Emmanuel, on the base of a pictured photograph brought before this court by I.P.O Johnson Aribisala, this court hereby declared that charge as dead on arrival, on the count of the I.P.O's inability to provide the two witnesses namely Adejoke Charles and Adenike Charles to tell this court how they came by the picture and to further verify its authenticity.”

“Olorun osheee oooo” Literally meaning “Thank God” suddenly erupted from among the audience. I recognize that voice immediately. It belongs to my mother.

“ORDER!!!!!” The court clerk suddenly roared in an attempt to quell the rising murmurs.
“On the charges of illegal possession of arms,” The judge continued after the noise had died down.
I held my chest with both arm in a perplexed anticipation of the next verdict.

“Attempted murder of one Miss Chioma Ariaku who is presently in coma inside a government owned hospital, and lastly for the charge of attempted suicide, this court, under section three hundred and twenty five thousand of the Law of the federal republic of Nigeria as amended in the 1999 constitution, this court hereby sentenced you, to 36years imprisonment with hard labor. ARISE!”.
Immediately at the end of those final words of the judge, an anguish scream escaped from somewhere among the audience. I turned around slowly to see what was going on, horribly staring directly at my face was my mother's widely opened eyes from the floor.
My siblings rushed to her immediately they recovered from the shock. But before I could have another look at her, I felt something cold but familiar on my wrist. It was an handcuff. Gently I was led out of the hall into a waiting green van by two policemen by my sides.

As I was about to climb the stairs, I heard a whisper in my right ear saying, “I told you… you can’t get away with murdering my wife.”
Quickly I turned around to see the owner of those words and slowly, a new revelation crept into my mind as my sight behold his presence.

HOW DID WE GOT HERE?

DEDICATION.

Yes, I theologically dedicate this work to the glory of God, for dedicating part of his unlimited time to create me. He would have choose to use the clay he used in creating me to create another being and I would have literally been a ghost. I presume God knew my ghostism would have been a threat to mankind so after deliberating on it, he decided unequivocally to create me. So for dedicating his time to create me? I'm hereby dedicating this work to him.

So to say, DEDICATION RECEIVED IS DEDICATION RETURNED

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.
Humbly, I hereby acknowledge the inspiration given to me by the pen masters and mistress of this planet. And to my fans and readers all over the world including the animal kingdom, for using part of their hard earned Megabites and borrowed Mb's to read my work. THANKS AND JAH-BLESS.

COPYRIGHT.
This work is no longer under the protection of Shango(god of thunder).
Before you start begging on his behalf, I think you should know the reason why I decided to withdraw the contract from his care. The last time I gave him the job, he collected a lot of bribes and the part one of COUNTLESS was plagiarize by over a million people.

He became rich through my work and presently he owns a two bedroom bungalow in Banana island and two block industries in Lekki phase two. He even called me to come and be a chief labourer at one of the block industries. INSOLENCE!.
Now you see my reasons for withdrawing the work from him. Currently, I'm still looking for who to give the protection job, although, a lot of deities have submitted their C.V's and I'm still going through them.

PROHIBITION.
Fortunately, I'm granting full access to every reader to view this work with any device they wish to use. You can use iPhone xMax and Samsung 10 if you like. Even if na desktop charger dey your hand, carry go.. You are free to view it with any device as long as it doesn't stop Atiku from going to court.

CRITICS.
Bring it on critics, I'm ready for you all. The answer to bad critics is simple.. IGNORE. and the answer to positive critics is to STRIVE HARDER. I learnt all this from Grandma Temmy and Menwongo.

DERAILERS.
Derailers, are strictly warned to back off this thread. Please don't come here and be telling us how Mtn has been deducting your credit with reckless abandon. Thanks for adhering in advance.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE STORY.

VIOLENCE - very likely.

SEX- Well, that depends on if Darous has learnt his lessons or not. But I pray he doesn't so at least the masturbation crews can have something to look forward to.
According to a study by an offline site in Afghanistan, the sex scenes of Countless part 1 reduced a lot of unwanted pregnancies and a lot of barren women were able to give birth to the fruit of the womb. That's that on that.

So everyone, here we go again, get your popcorns and hypos handy, find a thorn-ful seat and settle down your rough, and coal-like buttocks as I arrogantly take you on this second phase of the long ride.

Your Shangoistic writer,

TheBlessedMAN .
