The COAS has more power than the CDS, even though the CDS is higher in rank. this is because the CDS cannot issue a direct order to any of the service branch chiefs. The Service branch chiefs receive orders from the C_in_ C directly, hence a more powerful and lucrative position than the CDS who is more like an adviser
