Three underrated reasons why you’re not a great partner, and how it affects the smooth running of your relationship with your partner. The list of things that could prevent a relationship from working smoothly are, in a way, inexhaustible; with each relationship having its own peculiar set of issues yet to be resolved, and differences yet to be settled. Over time, some things may have become recognized as recurrent problems people in different relationships face. Cheating, unfaithfulness, disloyalty are some of such common, well-publicized relationship worries. On the other hand, there are relationship misbehaviours that people hardly pay attention to; relationship issues that are left to grow unchecked and fester unhindered as people hardly pay any attention to their badness and their underrated ability to wreck relationships. Three of these common but hardly-discussed relationship behaviours are listed here below: 1. Overthinking People overthink their relationships, their partner’s actions, their partner’s words and so many things. It’s not said as frequently as it should be; but really, and really, that’s just not good enough. Many times, overthink and overanalyze things many times is because they do not have a strong foundation of communication with their significant other. When you have an unwavering base of communication in your relationship, it’d be difficult to burden yourself with thoughts that could easily be put to bed by simply communicating with your partner; asking them questions plainly and getting honest answers from them. It’s a popular custom for couples to kiss immediately after tying the knot. But how did this custom begin? Whether it’s a civil wedding ceremony or one held in Church, the groom and the bride will likely be asked to kiss after the exchange of their marital vows. It is a practice you’ll see at so many weddings, alright, but where did it begin from, and why was it necessary to begin it in the first instance. Read More: Ladies, Things You Should Know About Sex Before Dating Any Man You may kiss the bride: A brief history It is claimed by several accounts that back in the day during the reign of the Roman empire, [753 BC to 27 BC and then from 64 AD to 1453 AD.], it is believed that the bride and the groom would not have kissed each other until the time of their wedding. The kiss after the exchange of vows is seen traditionally as their first kiss ever. Another reason why kissing after the vows became a thing was because marriages were seen as contracts and in Roman times kissing was a legal bond that sealed all contracts. What is even more intriguing is the fact that he did not hide in the house of God to watch it, neither was he alone. He was actually watching simultaneously with the pastor’s preaching. When people get addicted to certain things they get so possessed and obsessed with it that irrespective of where they find themselves they engage in that act, sometimes unconsciously. A church goer whose addiction to pornographic videos has apparently gone beyond remedy was caught watching porn in no other place than the chapel. What is even more intriguing is the fact that he did not hide in the house of God to watch it, neither was he alone. He was actually watching simultaneously with the pastor’s preaching. Apparently, another member of the congregation who must have been seated behind the man took a video of him doing the sacrilegious thing and posted it on social media. Even if you have dated people, it is still not too late to learn about these things. Ladies, Things You Should Know About Sex Before Dating Any Man Relationships and sex almost go hand in hand. It is pointless to live in denial of the reality that most relationships are sexual in operation as opposed to the ones wherein celibacy is a thing. Having said that, foreknowledge of sex, in theory, at least, becomes really important for anyone who intends to get into a relationship. And in our society where parents and other agents of socialization find it difficult to talk about sex, a problem of sorts is created where people go into relationships having vague ideas of sex and illusions and sometimes unfounded beliefs about how the whole thing goes. Even some people who have hopped in and out of a number of relationship still have warped, distorted ideas of the act itself and the mechanisms surrounding it. So here are few things you should have known before dating anyone at all. And even if you have dated people, it is still not too late to learn about these things. 1. Sex is not a gift Sex is not a reward for a man’s good behaviour. It is not a valentine’s day gift. It is also not a present. It is something you want to do, a mutual feeling between you and your partner. 2. It doesn’t diminish your worth The number of people you have had sex with is not a determinant of your worth or intelligence and even value. You should not attach your self worth to that. Any man who tries to make you feel less of a person for having a ravenous sexual appetite or a history of enjoying it isn’t good for you. The advent of Colonialism in Africa gave birth to many new territories, annexation and extinction of the existing ones. For instance, the territory known as Nigeria today was invented by the colonial masters through the annexation of different existing territories. This geographical invention precipitated the historical distortion and geographical extinction of certain territories. Biafra among other territories lost their sovereignty to this colonial arrangement. According to Prof. Chinua Achebe, Biafra territory was deduced from “the bight of Biafra, the vast expanse of water covering the Continental shelf into which the Niger empties before flowing into the gulf of Biafra.” In John Mitchell comprehensive map intrinsically made for resolving border disputes, it’s also elucidated that the pertinent estuaries from where the rivers flew into the Ocean is called “Ephraim town” located at 60miles from River Num presently in the South-South Nigeria today. The river is named after Nun, Joshua’s father, the tribe of Ephraim. In a nutshell, some researchers held the view that Biafra was inhabited by Ephraim descendants. The Nigeria colonial Masters successfully formed “Nigeria” from different alien territories but failed to unite her people. Subsequently Nigeria attained her political freedom on October 1st 1960 then arouse power tussle on whom to pilot the country political affairs. It’s an unhealthy political competition among the sections(the Northern, Eastern and Western regions) which Nigeria was divided into. By 1966, It’s conspicuously clear that “Nigeria” was merely a geographical expression lacking the spirit of a nation. A Gentle Driver Wants to Bring the Heat Dear Car Talk: I drive a 6-speed 2012 Mini. I pride myself on being a gentle driver. My goal is to drive so smoothly that you'll fall asleep in the passenger seat. This means I shift early; I try to keep the engine speed between 1,800-2,500 rpm. In the winter, could I heat up the car's interior more quickly by waiting longer to shift into a higher gear? I have the winter package (heated seats and side mirrors), but it would be nice to warm up the air a little faster. www.thinkyoung.com.ng |
