Akharmony: Fela is not a good model for any serious person. Hid smoking habit is just very dangerous for the health. Intelligent man livi g like a demon possesed person. I will sometime agree with thosw who said he was a lucifer agent.perhaps his gift camw from the underworld; wettin i sabi self. Many youths now listening to his song with drugs and diffrent synthetic cannabis in the nmae of curing depression. Fela is not a good model simple I am sure you are probably a lover of Bob Marley and other reggae musicians don't you criticize them? Burna Boy, Wiz kid, majority of them smokes weed openly do you criticize them? Nearly all American rappers smoke weed openly do you criticize them? Regardless the post is talking about their music not their lifestyle so focus on that. |

Kalulu44: I grew up hearing Fela and a little bit of Barrister, infact I enjoyed Barrister "ma fowo Kan ibe yen, ijo ni ko bami jooo daddy" very well. But I will go with Fela anytime anyday. The other two, i don't know them much except thru history like this and most of their songs I have heard it sparringly. Ma fo wo kan ibe ye ijo ni ko bami joo daddy! That was Sunny Ade not Barrister. He sang it in his album "Let them say". |

obembet: These four legendary Nigerian musicians Ayinla Omowura, Haruna Ishola, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, and Sikiru Ayinde Barrister are unique because each of them pioneered and popularized different indigenous music genres that became cultural pillars in Nigeria and beyond.
Here is what makes them special in music industry
1. Ayinla Omowura – King of Apala music
Known as the most influential Apala musician. His music addressed social, political, and cultural issues. His style blended traditional Yoruba percussion with deep philosophical messages.
2. Haruna Ishola – King of Apala/Fuji precursor (Were music)
One of the earliest and most successful Apala musicians. Famous for his spiritually rooted and poetic Yoruba lyrics. He gave Apala an identity and helped it spread internationally.
3. Fela Anikulapo Kuti – Pioneer of Afrobeat
International icon and activist. Fused traditional Yoruba rhythms, jazz, highlife, and funk. Used his music to challenge political corruption and oppression in Nigeria. Afrobeat later became a global sound, influencing today’s Afrobeats.
4. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister – Pioneer of Fuji music
Transformed Were music (Islamic wake-up songs during Ramadan) into Fuji, a major Yoruba genre. Modernized Yoruba percussion with dynamic rhythms and storytelling. Regarded as the father of Fuji music, inspiring later stars like Wasiu Ayinde and Pasuma.
All four artists are cultural revolutionaries who used indigenous Yoruba musical styles to create new genres or elevate existing ones. They are considered founding fathers of Nigerian traditional/modern music, laying the foundation for today’s Afrobeat, Fuji, and Apala sounds.
So, Which of them is your favorite and why?

For the war to end, Hamas has to release the remaining hostages, shikena! A Nigerian is urging Israel not to stop the war while the Israelis who are directly affected wants the war to end. Why wouldn't they turn to religion Many of you will come here turn everything to politics and spew gibberish. Did the issue of churches everywhere started under Tinubu? Na since today churches dey every street? I am not a supporter of Tinubu or any politician but you people should face that facts. ZeemsPropeties: If the religious ones are establishing churches, what have you ( the unreligious) established? At least the churches are contributing to society. What have you done besides complain needlessly? What contribution has religion made to the society? Despite all your religion your politicians are the most wicked in the world yet they go to churches and other places of worship. The generality of Nigerians don't love themselves yet churches are everywhere. There are lots of developed countries that doesn't even believe in Christianity. You all carry Christianity one the head and have churches everywhere yet just a drop of people practice the teaching of Christianity. I have my own company and I employ people in my own little way. You can email me to confirm and in case you need job or if you know anyone that needs job. Religion is just the opium of the people. |
