Fake drugs wouldn't be in existence if the government, customs, Nafdac and other agencies are alive to their responsibilities. Does fake drugs fall from heaven? They are manufactured by humans, bought/Imported by humans, transported by humans and sold in the open market by humans.

Was this the first time for gragra by the agencies? Capital No!
Any country with a comprehensive health policy see to it that drug production is localised and whatever will affect local production is never allowed. Research institutions, laboratories, plants and distribution chains are jealously guided. The energy sector is so critical that certain drug production facilities cannot afford power outage for a day. What has the case been? Many big drug firms have closed up and left and what people do is import not the original brands but generics.

Take for instance a drug like "Paflexin" for instance. Very difficult.to find it in pharmaceutical shops. Yet it is a critical drug in handling some resistant infections. Their gragra no fly at all.

The government should take over the production, importation and distribution of drugs in Nigeria let's see how it works.

NAFDAC made mistakes or maybe they intentionally wanted to hyjack traders goods for whatever reasons.
They are using a good excuse to perpetuate evil at places like Onitsha.

The Onitsha drug market has thousands of shops. Many of those are selling drugs, others are selling other things.
There is a very important need to find fake drugs and arrest those involved on that. Everybody agrees to this including most of the traders.

Problem is that NAFDAC invaded these markets at the wee hours of the night, blocked all entrances to the markets, and started pulling down shops and breaking into peoples shops without the owners of the shops being allowed to come around. How is that right?

Most traders have many millions in cash inside their shops. Most products may have been packed in ways that need explanation for the NAFDAC officials to understand. All that was required was the presence of the traders. If they are found to be selling fakes, they should be arrested and if not, their shops should be opened.

But NAFDAC officials prefer a gangster approach by going into shops, opening shops, taking whatever they want without the owners allowed to be present, when the owners are just a pole away..., that is nothing but an abuse of power!

One day you will fall victim of fake drugs! You and your foolish comment!
