The death has been announced of Joël Gustave Nana Ngongang aka Joel Nana. The 33-year-old Lagos-based Cameroon-born activist is said to have died on Thursday, 15th October 2015 following a brief illness. In his lifetime, Joel's career as a human rights advocate spanned numerous African countries, including Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa, in addition to his native Cameroon. He was until his death the Chief Executive Officer of Partners for Rights and Development (Paridev) a boutique consulting firm on human rights, development and health in Africa.



Prior to this position he was the founding Executive Director of the African Men for Sexual Health and Rights (AMSHeR)an African thought and led coalition of LGBT/MSM organizations working to address the vulnerability of MSM to HIV. He worked as the Africa Research and Policy Associate at the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission(IGLHRC), as a Fellow at Behind the Mask, a Johannesburg-based non-profit media organisation publishing a news website concerning gay and lesbian affairs in Africa.

For many months now,not much has been seen of the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Omo n'Oba n'Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa I. There have been conflicting reports on his health since his first wife died. The latest news from Benin kingdom is that his first son who is the Edaiken N’ Uselu, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Eheneden Erediauwa, was yesterday 14th October 2015 conferred with the title of Uko N’ Iwebo in accordance with the Benin custom. The ceremony, which is seen as one of the initial rites in preparation of a new king's ascension, had in attendance traditional rulers, palace Chiefs and members of the public. Crown Prince Eheneden Erediauwa, born 1953, is a former Nigerian Ambassador to Norway, Nigerian Ambassador to Angola. He has a B.A. in economics and sociology from the University of Wales. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs. Since 1987 he has been active in leading positions within the Nigerian business community, especially the gas and oil industries.
