Twitter suspended the account of Niger Delta Avengers, yesterday, following the group’s announcement on the micro-blogging site that it had carried out five attacks on key oil installations in the last few days.Although Twitter does not comment on individual accounts for privacy and security reasons, a spokesman for the site said, Avengers account was suspended in line with the company’s policy, which detailed specific rule pertaining to violent threats.The rule says that “you may not make threats of violence or promote violence, including threatening or promoting terrorism.”

The Avengers allegedly contravened this rule by using a Twitter account as its main form of communication, using it to publicize claims of attacks and as a platform to criticise the Federal Government.


In February, Twitter said it had shut down more than 125,000 terrorism-related accounts since the middle of 2015, most of which were linked to the Islamic State group.

Wife of Nigeria’s Senate President, Mrs. Toyin Saraki and members of the Senators’ Wives Forum (8th Session) have felicitated with Muslim faithful as they mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.


In a Statement released by the Forum Secretariat, Forum President, Mrs. Toyin Saraki expressed gratitude to Allah for the gift of life and called on the Muslim faithful to continue to pray for the unity and growth of Nigeria beyond the Ramadan period while remembering to be charitable towards one another, especially the needy. “For as long as we share, the love that binds us together as a people will continue to grow stronger” – Mrs. Saraki added.While wishing all Muslims a blessed Eid-El- Fitri celebration, Mrs Saraki on behalf of the Senators’ Wives Forum also expressed the hope that the nation will continue to enjoy peace and improved health for all citizens, especially disadvantaged women and girls.
