The only reason the ADC through Tambuwal and to some extent El Rufai were wooing Obi was to ensure Obi does not contest the next elections so as to see to the SE bloc votes going to their yet to be elected candidate.

I am sensing the Yaradua treatment at play here with Atiku being promised total support by northern caucus just to keep him in ADC so as to eventually deny him the ticket and retire his dinosaur ass to the fossil bin of Nigerian politics. The north is not very comfortable with Atiku for some reason. They saw Atiku challenging Buhari in 2015 as a threat to same northern interests.
