According to reports, MoneyMakerHKN was on his own when he suddenly received a debit alert of N880k from his GTB account. The alert allegedly came from some London-based fraudsters. Furiously, he stormed the closest branch of GTB.

When he wasn’t getting the needed attention, he sat on the floor lamenting, creating a scene. He had arrived the bank in the company of a woman and a little child. The woman with him got embarrassed and wanted him to be civil but he shouted at her saying:

Omo Alokwe, who lives inWoodchurch Road, West Hampstead, will ride from Land’s End (England) to Lagos, in Nigeria, in November to raise funds of about £20,000 for Medicine Sans Frontiers (MSF).He will start from Land’s End and ride to Dover where he will travel on the Eurotunnel to France and then onto Morroco and through Senegal, Mali and Togo before reaching Nigeria.

In Nigeria, Mr Alokwe aims to break the world record for the longest motorcyle ride in a single
country. Over 16 weeks, he will aim to cover 30,000 miles through the country, where he grew up.

“I’ve always liked travelling and I wanted to do something different and really challenge myself,” said Mr Alokwe. “I’ve been riding motorbikes for 18 years.

As a child I used to muck around on my friends’ bikes and when I was older I got my licence. I love the camaraderie between bikers, the freedom and the wind in my hair.”

Mr Alokwe said he has chosen to support MSF as it is not “politically or religiously-affiliated” and “just deals with human crises”.

“I’ve always admired the work of MSF for their selflessness. Anywhere there’s any problems in the world, they are there. They are one of the best organisations working in Africa. I’ve always wanted to do something like this so I thought I should come out of my comfort zone.”

I think we should all remember this stripped dress that went viral with controversy in the perception of its colour some months ago.Now scientists have come out to say the original photo was made up of pixels that were Brown And Blue.According to scientists the differences in our perception of the dress’ colour is due to the way individual brains filter light and how accustom are we to indoor or outdoor light.

Dr Bevil Conway, a neuroscientist from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said people who perceive white and gold stripes may be more attuned to daylight while those who see a black and blue dress are more accustomed to indoor lighting.
The brains of “brown and blue” individuals were likely to fall in a bracket somewhere between.
He said: “The big open question is what causes these differences in the population.Dr Conway also found that perception differed by age and sex.
Older people and women were more likely to report seeing white and gold, while a larger proportion of younger people saw black and blue.

There was a news of recent that one of the sons of Osun State Governor,Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola was arrested for money laundering.Well,Aregbesola has come out to deny this report.

The Director, Bureau of Communication & Strategy, Office of the Governor, Mr Semiu Okanlawon in a statement on Wednesday said the allegation that Governor Aregbesola’s son was arrested at Muritala Mohammed Airport by security agents on account of money laundering was untrue.

The clarification was made by Aregbesola on Wednesday, May 13, through a statement released by his media aide, Semiu Okanlawon.

Mr Okanlawon’s statement read in part, “It has become pertinent to inform Nigerians and others generally that there is no iota of truth in the story being peddled around by some misguided elements claiming that a son of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, Kabir Aregbesola was arrested at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday May 12, 2015 with a huge sum of money in foreign currencies”.

“We have discovered the authors of the wicked and malicious lie are doggedly pursuing their agenda by engaging in an aggressive push for the falsehood to reach a larger population especially using the social media.

“The younger Aregbesola neither traveled anywhere nor had any encounter with any security personnel today. It is obvious the evil minds at work are out to drag an innocent young man’s name into this dirt in order to get at his father.

“Obviously, part of the game plans of those behind this orchestrated lie is to whip up sentiments especially among the workers in Osun whose salaries are being delayed as part of the fallout of the national revenue crisis and demonise the governor.

“Aregbesola has maintained a life of a moderate family man with a set of highly disciplined children who cannot be found wanting on issues of morals and societal values.

“Members of the public are therefore urged to dismiss the falsehood because it is just another handiwork of mischievous minds”, he added

Anyway, in a report according to UK Mirror,A league cup final had to be abandoned after one side had five players sent off – including three goalkeepers.

The match between FC Loughborough and Quorn Royals saw the referee have no choice but to repeatedly produce the red card.

An official told Mirror Online: “There were actually six red cards shown, but one was to a named substitute.

“One dismissal was for violent conduct, two for receiving a second caution in the same match, one for serious foul play and one for offensive language.”

The matter is now in the hands of Leicestershire and Rutland County FA.

The game was scrapped in the 77th minute when Loughborough had their fifth player sent off.

The match was supposed to be the Leicestershire-based Charnwood Sunday League’s showpiece event.

But under FA rules it had to be abandoned because matches cannot continue if a side has less than seven players.

A meeting will now be held to decide if the fierce local derby – which was poised at 3-3 – is replayed.

A league spokesperson described it as a “sad end” to their season.

Abby Wake,eight months pregnant woman,had no idea she was pregnant until her boyfriend,Jarryd Gorman felt a kick from Abby’s stomach.Abby says she’s dreamed of being a mom but thought she’d have several years before she’d have a baby.But, last week, Wake learned she had just weeks to get ready for baby Isaac’s arrival.

Officials of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA,arrested a Lagos pastor over drug trafficking at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, AIIA, Enugu.The claimed pastor whose name is Daniel Lanre Akintola, 43,was caught with approximately 1.9789kg of heroine which he hid in the bottom of his luggage.Vanguard newspaper reported that another suspect, Onwueg-busi Tochukwu Victor, 48, was also arrested with 51.5kg of ephedrine found inside his luggage

NDLEA commander at the Enugu Airport, Mr. Nsikak-Abasi Udoh, disclosed that the 43-year-old
pastor wanted to abandon his luggage at the arrival hall for fear of arrest.
He said:
“Mr. Daniel Lanre Akintola unlawfully possessed 1.978kg of heroin, while returning from Entebbe, a major town in Central Uganda. He wanted to abandon the luggage, but we detected his intention. The drug was carefully concealed in a false bottom of his luggage.
The second suspect is a businessman who had parcels of ephedrine weighing 51.5kg, which he wanted to smuggle to Ma-puto, Mozambique. They are being investigated.”

Akintola said:

“I am a pastor with one of the pentecostal churches, at Ipaja, Lagos. I attended a minister’s conference in Uganda. This bag, where heroin was found, is my bag but I am a pastor and not a drug trafficker.”

Akintola was unable to produce evidence that he actually attended a minister’s conference in Uganda.

Reuben Abati,president Goodluck Jonathan’s spokesman wrote this article challenging APC presidential candidate to a debate.

The last time Nigerians enjoyed something really close to an exciting Presidential debate was during the 1993 Presidential elections. I recall the colourful and memorable encounter between the late Chief MKO Abiola of the Social Democratic Party and Alhaji Bashir Tofa of the National Republican Convention. At the end of that debate, it was clear who among the duo was better experienced, much more intellectually capable and more endearing to the electorate in terms of readiness for the job being applied for. That is what a debate, under these circumstances, is: it is a job interview.



The entire country is the panel and whereas actual measurement of impact may be tentative, especially in a developing country where there are challenges of illiteracy and access to mass media, the performance of the candidates ordinarily reshapes the conversation and can significantly influence voters’ choice. Unfortunately, in the lead up to this year’s Presidential elections, it seems certain that voters will be denied this opportunity for comparison, assessment, interaction, not to talk of the excitement and drama.



The man to blame for this denial is General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Getting him to debate the incumbent, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has been an uphill task. To say that the man is scared, practically running away from an opportunity to debate his ideas against the incumbent’s, is to be charitable. He doesn’t want it. Every effort to get him to the podium has been rebuffed by him and his handlers.



President Jonathan received, ahead of the INEC rescheduling of the dates for the 2015 elections, two requests for a Presidential debate. The President enthusiastically accepted and looked forward to both debates. But General Buhari was not interested. There is no gainsaying the fact that President Jonathan and General Buhari are the main contenders in this election. Every Nigerian would love to see the two of them debate. That would be good for our democracy.



The first group that approached President Jonathan was represented by John Momoh of Channels TV; Emeka Izeze of The Guardian, and Nduka Obaigbena of ThisDay, Arise TV and the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria. They said they were in talks with the APC. They needed us to agree to a debate. We checked our campaign schedule, and since Sundays were left free for review meetings and further consultations, we suggested that a Sunday date would be most convenient for us. That was when the drama began. The would-be organisers soon informed us that General Buhari did not want a debate on a Sunday, because according to him “he does not work on Sundays.”



I thought that was rather odd. President Jonathan works every day. The job of a President is a round-the-clock, all-year-round engagement. If a Sunday date would be inconvenient, may be a Mondaythen. Feedback from the Buhari camp: Monday was not okay either. Eventually, the contact persons reported that a Tuesday date had been agreed upon. This coincided with a day when we were supposed to have rallies in two states of the North. Nonetheless, President Jonathan directed that he will keep the date, and that rallies for the day should be fast-tracked. We adjusted our schedule and intensified preparations for the Jonathan encounter with Buhari.



Two days to this debate that would have been, I received non-stop frantic calls from the troika of Momoh, Izeze and Obaigbena. There had been a development, they said. The fresh development was that they had met that same evening with General Buhari and he did not agree anymore to a debate with President Jonathan. Rather, he wanted a town hall meeting, in which he would be the sole participant. Another town hall meeting could be organized the same day for President Jonathan and both could be aired back to back. That was his request and wish. Momoh and Co wanted the President to agree to this.



They’d rather have the two candidates say something on whatever platform than say nothing at all. The President’s response was that a town hall meeting is not the same as a debate. He wanted a face-to-face debate with General Buhari. He also told Messrs Momoh, Izeze and Obaigbena that if he wanted a town hall meeting, he could always ask his Presidential Campaign Organization to arrange it. And General Buhari was in a position to organize his own town hall meeting as well. Should there be a change of mind and an opportunity for a proper debate, he, Jonathan, would be available at the shortest notice. We haven’t heard from the trio since then.



One of Buhari’s spokesmen later announced that he was pulling out of that particular debate because the organisers had been “compromised” by government and the integrity of the debate platform they were offering was therefore doubtful! Questions: The same media houses that grant APC disproportionate amount of attention, and which they patronize to push their propaganda? And who are the media managers on the APC side questioning the integrity of their old-time comrades, and one-time fellow hunters just so they could be seen to be committed? I leave these posers to the well-known parties involved to sort out among themselves, as they surely will when all of this is over.



The second group that invited us to a debate was the Nigeria Elections Debate Group, anchored by veteran journalist Taiwo Alimi in conjunction with a few media houses. The NEDG has been organizing election debates since 1999, and has been so successful that it has been invited to do the same thing in other West African countries. The Buhari camp again rejected this invitation on the grounds that the media houses involved were pro-government and therefore partisan.



But of course, the puerile protestations of Buhari’s handlers are meaningless. A debate is what it is: an intellectual duel requiring skills, knowledge, comportment and the ability to persuade the listener. The medium may even be far less important than the message and the messenger. I have no doubt that Buhari’s handlers have enough sound knowledge of this elementary truth, but they are insecure. Each time they are asked to produce their candidate for a debate, they invent a ridiculous reason.



Obviously, General Buhari seems to be afraid of engaging every other Presidential candidate. He needs to be reminded that a Presidential debate will not require him to work out on a treadmill, or jog the distance, or recite the national pledge, or spell his running mate’s name. President Jonathan was and is ready. With Buhari fleeing the arena with his tails between his legs, there were suggestions that the President could end up debating other candidates from “smaller parties”, but he waved this aside, insisting that every candidate is important. As it then turned out, INEC rescheduled the election dates just the night before and the NEDG group on their own, postponed the debate.



It is worrisome that any Presidential candidate will shy away from a debate out of timidity and fear of inadequacy. And yet a President’s work is one of perpetual debate. He will have to chair meetings, where ideas will be expressed and he must understand what works and may not. He will attend international meetings where he is expected to contribute to discussions, often in the format of a debate. Without that ability to assimilate, process and discuss ideas, nobody should be trusted with even the management of a local council not to talk of the whole of Nigeria. A debate also provides a candidate at this level, an opportunity to communicate his vision of leadership, and to explain to the electorate in his own voice, why he deserves their vote.



General Buhari needs to come out of his comfort zone and undertake this test. He has been campaigning on the issues of security yet his supporters preach hate and violence. He talks about the economy yet he couldn’t at a town hall meeting differentiate between the excess crude account and the foreign reserve. He projects himself as an anti-corruption angel yet he is surrounded by a large crowd of morally conflicted persons; to worsen it all, he doesn’t even know the name of his own running mate. When he grants interviews, his responses are cryptic and elliptic, demonstrating such shallowness that confuses an informed audience.



His deliberate avoidance of a Presidential debate is akin to an act of examination malpractice. It is not good enough for a man who wants to be President of our country. He is short-changing the Nigerian electorate by denying them the opportunity of assessing him properly in an open debate. While a Presidential debate is not a constitutional requirement, it is an established convention that deepens and enriches the democratic process.



President Jonathan is ready to meet him in an open debate, any day, any hour, and at any venue of his choice. We invite General Buhari to take up the challenge.

ISIS has taken a terrifying stranglehold on Nigeria after militants Boko Haram pledged allegiance to the terror group.

An audio recording believed to be from Boko Haram’s leader Abubakar Shekau said the jihadists, who have been waging a six-year military campaign in northern Nigeria, were merging with ISIS.The recording identified ‘the Caliph’ as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS and self-proclaimed caliph of the Muslim world.

A translation of the Arabic broadcast said: ‘We announce our allegiance to the Caliph… and will hear and obey in times of difficulty and prosperity.’

The message means that ISIS now has a foothold in Nigeria, as well as controlling swathes of Iraq and Syria.

Earlier today, four bomb blasts killed at least 50 people in the north eastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri in the worst attacks there since Boko Haram militants tried to seize the town in two major assaults earlier this year.

A tricycle rider detonated a bomb when they were prevented from entering a fish market in the west of Maiduguri.

A second blast hit another market shortly afterwards before a car bomb exploded by a bus station near a government office, it was reported.

‘We’ve received 50 dead bodies from the blast scenes and 36 injured people,’ Salisu Kwaya Bura, Chief Medical Officer of Borno Specialists Hospital said.

The number of wounded was well above 36 as some of the injured were taken to two other hospitals, a hospital source said.

Maiduguri is the birthplace of Boko Haram, which has long coveted the city as a capital for the state it wants to create. The militants tried to seize Maiduguri at the end of January and again in early February.

Boko Haram overran a territory the size of Belgium last year, which Nigeria’s ill-equipped army has struggled to take back.

The group gained worldwide notoriety in April when its members kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls.
