Desecration of her Patrimony 'UNILAG'. . . On the 29th May, 2012 I wondered 'are we really practising democracy or authocracy'? One lesson Nigerians should learn from this irresponsible immediate -effect order or dictation from the "Democratic" President Jonathan is this: The number of Public Offices previously held by an individual has very little or nothing to do with his or her subsequent or future performance in any other Public Office! President Jonathan is said to have been a University Lecturer (Professor) after what universally is understood to be a grilling Academic Training and Maturity -The PhD Degree. He is also said to have subsequently directed a Public office - at one of the Nation's Parastatals before he rose to become a Deputy Governor of a State. Same Jonathan eventually became a full- fledged Executive Governor of his Home State. Thereafter, Jonathan became the Vice President of Nigeria, and eventually catapulted to the position of the President; both offices of which he has occupied for a combined total of 5 years. From the foregoing, therefore, any reasonable person would have thought, or be conditioned to believe, that such Curriculum Vitae would easily convey a character or toga of an Administrative Wizard. But, that completely appears not to be the case; at least, with the person of President Jonathan; as observed time after time. If Jonathan had enlisted in the Military for one day, one may probably suspect that his DICTATORIAL tendencies stemmed from a Military Training Background. But that is far from being the case. The only personality that would be put through the experience of President Jonathan's Curriculum Vitae but only to exude disturbing signs of administrative inexperience or naivety, with perpetuity, is the Unintelligent or A Dummy. This is why it makes sense to question the circumstance of Jonathan's PhD Degree. Fake or Quota System? Because, what we have continued to see in the man, Jonathan, is far from the minimum expected of even a BSc or BA holder (barring an Honorary Award). We should resist the apology of heaping the blame for every exhibited naivety on his Advisers. Advisers or No Advisers, a President parading a genuine University PhD Degree should be intelligent enough to See and Reject any Bad Advice. Having stated the obvious, let's give room for doubt on the above; and assume President Jonathan IS CERTAINLY WITH IT. Then, on such an assumption, only an intelligent individual going for the jugular, in terms of punitive or retaliatory vengeance, would secretly decide to change the name of a leading international University on the eve of its Golden Jubilee; especially following the immediate horrendous trauma of the Institution's Chief Executive's Coffin still lying in State. This picture or scenario would, in any democracy, lend itself to a subsequent Investigative Journalism; even if only to dig out the facts and figures by locating the chapters and verses. This becomes imperative as President Jonathan personally followed-up the Dictatorial, Swift and seemingly Bizarre Name- Change with a pronouncement of its IRREVOCABILITY. One begins to wonder: First, amongst others (no matter how mundane anybody may think this type of question is): Did UNILAG (Lagos University), at any stage, Reject Goodluck Jonathan as a Candidate for Admission, whether once or severally? Perhaps, still smarting from the everlasting disappointment from a name he had, possibly, longed to be associated with right from a formative stage of Academic Interests and Prestige; then, the anniversary of his first term in office as an Elected Executive President throwing-up a golden opportunity for the revenge; albeit capitalizing on a seemingly genuine but pretextual immortalization of MKO Abiola. Such an Investigative Journalism should start from here! Article Link:- http://codedboyz.tk/chit-chat/desecration-of-her-patrimony-'unilag'/ |

https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/05/26/article-2150225-134DF83D000005DC-214_634x741.jpg A 16-year-old has managed to crack puzzles which have baffled the world of maths for more than 350 years. Shouryya Ray has been hailed a genius after working out the problems set by Sir Isaac Newton. The schoolboy, from Dresden, Germany, solved two fundamental particle dynamics theories which physicists have previously been able to calculate only by using powerful computers. His solutions mean that scientists can now calculate the flight path of a thrown ball and then predict how it will hit and bounce off a wall. Shouryya only came across the problems during a school trip to Dresden University where professors claimed they were uncrackable. 'I just asked myself, 'Why not?',' explained Shouryya. 'I think it was just schoolboy naivety. I didn't believe there couldn't be a solution,' he added. Modest Shouryya began solving complicated equations as a six year old but says he's no genius. 'There are other things at school I wish I was better at - football for one,' he said. For years Shouryya has enjoyed what he calls 'intrinsic beauty' of maths. When he was young, his father, an engineer, began testing his brain by setting him arithmetic problems. After arriving from Calcutta four years ago without knowing any German, Shouryya is now fluent in the language. His intelligence was quickly noted in class and he was pushed up two years in school - he is currently sitting his exams early. Modestly Shouryya has pointed out he has weak points as a mathematician, and says he is not as competent in sport. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2150225/Shouryya-Ray-solves-puzzles-posed-Sir-Isaac-Newton-baffled-mathematicians-350-years.html |
