And I quote :

Don't derail the topic, give us the statistical backup of your hardwork via IGR. Besides, how man non-indegenes do you allow to thrive in your hostile, crime-infested, erosion-ravaged region of yours? Hostility drives investors away from your region, while tolerance and accommodation herald prosperity to the SW.US is a nation amorphous people, its greatness. We will continue to be tolerant untill your region is made desolate and uninhabitable by enticing all your productive people to our region. All your well-to-do people have their investments in SW and more are still coming. We USA of Nigeria. It is just a strategic policy to depopulate SE by having your best brains in SW, while the block-headed, never-do-well ones are left in your cursed land.

Dumbo read my fully edited post. Manufacturing industries are only A PART economic activities in Lagos. Telecom, banking, textile, confectionery, educational, health, and entertainment industries make up most of Lagos economic activities.

That said, there are some Igbo manufacturing industries in several scales (small, medium and large scale) in Lagos.
Olodo. Answer a simple question now ' where do these remitted taxes goes to, Lagos gov or federal gov?

As for your insult, you can shove it in you anus I won't be needing that. cool

1. I was referring to both parties, not any zone particular so enough of the stale blackmail.

2. Suicide mission you said? Always an excuse for been a coward. Awolowo not only reneged but decided to use it as any opportunity to attack and decimate the Igbos both physically and economically. Well....he almost succeeded cheesy but he DIDN'T. He died a pathetic suicide rat drinker.

3. When they say go to school, you stop over at ile-ise ewedu jakande school. Ikeja percentage refers to the industrial cluster in Ikeja as well as multiple cash flow from taxes and industies directed to alausa Ikeja. Who dosent know that the big industries in Ikeja are partly owned and in some cases, run by Igbo?
•You raised the issue of war not I. So save me the sermon I am already use to.

• Partly owed,run by ibos?
Owned by ibos you said? I pity you. Go and cure you ignorant, read news for once. shocked If it's indeed owned by ibos like you put it how dare Lagos State gov already making plans to dislodge the said market. Do you even understand the word ' owned '? grin

• eh ehnn another one. Where these remitted taxes goes to, federal gov or state gov huh grin I want to know how you deverooped largooss now. grin

The most interesting thing about this study shows NW is still more impovished than North east. Borno in spite of Boko Haram still in better position than many states in northern region. Yobe is missing from list.

Poverty rate by geopolitical region:
SW- 19.33%
SS- 25.22%
SE- 27.36%
NC- 42.53%
NE- 76.04%
NW- 80.96%

Ps: Do you guys find it interesting people from SE always bitter about statistics calling it fake. They won't debunk it the just go on emotional rants. Can you believe a .3% difference between Osun and Anambra would bother them so much. Oxford and UN are Liars in their mind suddenly.

My brother, I became exposed to the poverty level in Yoruba land when I was in osun on official assignment for one month. I did a documentary on it here, but thread got lost after NL was hacked.

I saw wretchedness and poverty manifestation in Osun. Brown roof and mud houses were competing among themselves in all the rural rustic "towns" I visited. I started asking if these ppl don't have shame? I mean their young ones in d city don't come home to build decent house for their parents? I observed that nobody ventures into long span roofing sheet and house paints in that state as those that tried witnessed low patronage. This ppl still use zinc in this age and time. The few block buildings there are not painted.

Places like omifunfun, lagere, sekona, owode, ede, oke egan, ifetedo, oloruntele, ipetumode, sekunde, gbadagesi, Ilesha, Moro, parakin ife, okerembete, oke dio, ayetoro. Etc . I can still picture these slums . it was a night mare. At d end of each day assignment, I will travel all the way to Oshogbo to have a near decent hotel accommodation.

From what I observed, if u build decent house in the west, their witches will kill you. Most of them don't think of building rather owambe and expensive wedding where they wear babylace and dance.

Another incident was when my boss in my former office lost his dad and we followed him to ogbomosho, o boy I shame for d man, the family house was a mud house, that my boss has to entertain us in an open field with canopies. Imagine a big man like my boss has no house in his village but he would wear d biggest parachute agbada in every occasion spraying money in Lagos.

I wept for Yoruba's after these two events anytime I see them bragging about Lagos. An Igbo man that has bungallow Lagos definitely has a mansion in his village #fact, so when next you lots want to brag, show us what u have in ur various states.
O really?
I smell lies grin

What I deduce from this thread is these -

1. The south west and south east are third world communities, so it defeats the purpose of dick measuring based on development to start with.

2. The southwest being unaffected by war, is embarrassingly low performing in terms of development compared to war-torn south east which is developing with little government intervention.

3. The developed areas in Lagos is partly as a result of the economic activities of the Igbos. The Igbo are among the ones who live in these areas.

No party should boast about development because they are still third world communities.

Oga, that's the recent state of Ibadan. it still marvels me how these pple manage to live in such a shitty environment. One only get to breath fresh air as one gets to new bodija, a bit of Challenge, felele, ring road and dugbe entrance etc, other places like Oja Oba,molete, Bere, gate, Iwo road etc are sour sites to behold with brown roofs as shown in those pictures forming a massive area of the city. It's as if civilization eluded those pple in that region.

What is the economic importance of the Yoruba's to the people of sokoto or Kano? Do you have businesses in these domain? Do you have taxable businesses more than the Igbo's in gboko, markurdi, Jo's, sokoto and Maiduguri? You just stick to your region and people come and develop it.
Yoruba has companies, banks, oil blocks, business in the north,SE,SS. Globacom, gtbank, firstbank, oil blocks, businesses et al. There are many and plenty of them..

realhumanity:
I am not one who is fascinated with dick measuring. One thing I found out in this site is that the Yoruba's are found thinking themselves bigger than other tribes when they have not contributed one naira outside their region. They sit in their regions looking for numerous foreign investors to invest in their lands and come out to shout development.

I find it very funny that this same western region I grew up in and schooled are being termed most developed. Apart from Lagos, no other southwestern state is finer than Kaduna and Kano. I have been to most parts of the west, they only have development in their capital cities, after the capital, you are in for a long ride into 18th century village settings. You get to see numerous mud houses and some more muds houses which has been plastered with cement and painted blue and lazy white.

Abeokuta: This is the capital "town" of Ogun state. This town before the last eight years was one straight dual lane with numerous old houses around the place. I appreciate Lagos state external economics of scale which has made Abeokuta to garner many factories and industries because it was cheaper setting up in those villages at the time when one plot was 70thousand naira. Abeokuta is a developing area as at the last time I visited. The government is trying super hard to develop it but the indigenes do not have the capacity to maintain or use the infrastructure the government has put in place. They do not run businesses like the lagosians but rely heavily on state government jobs and teaching to survive. That's why the state might have high igr but it doesn't translate to a better life of its people.

Ibadan: After Lagos, I give to this capital as the next best thing in the west. Though, a very hold town, it has one of the slowest level of development. Bedeviled by the high level of hooliganism, the state is finding it hard to have a developmental direction. Ibadan was primed as the beautiful bride of the west in the 60's. It got first of everything. It has(had) research institutions to push for limitless development but going to those places now, they are a shadow of its their very self. The federal government blessed the capital with the highest number of research institutes in the country with the mindset of being a city where most of our country's agricultural and economic solutions will come from, they have since been moribund liabilities of our country. If asked today, what is the usefulness of this "city", we will be lost with no answers.
Reeeeally undecided undecided

This should help, that's if you really care to about facts and informations and not another oral statistian grin
