Health / National Hospital Abuja Management Indifferent To Outbreak Of Lasa Fever Virus by Trutalker123: 9:59pm On Dec 12, 2018
On Tuesday 11th December about 5pm. A patient by name Ogbonna Edeh was rushed to national Hospital Abuja for emergency treatment following symptoms of High Fever related illness. From the Emergency Ward, He was referred to ICU unit without any form of preliminary investigations. It is important to note that ICU Unit ought to be the last resort after all medical investigations have been conducted. On Wednesday 12 December, 2018, news filtered in from the World Health Organization (WHO) that ogbonna tested positive to lasa fever virus as samples were collected from him while on admission at JUTH. Unknowingly to hospital staff at nation hospital, due care was rendered to ogbonna. However, immediately the suspected case was confirmed, the hospital management were provided with vaccination to administer to exposed medical officers but refuse administering such emergency treatment to its personnel. Investigations conducted reveal that the deputy CMAC who happens to be a misfit for the position instructed that hospital staff be left unattended to until lasa fever symptoms be visible on them. As at this moments, the staffs exposed to the patience are still compelled by national Hospital Management to resume at their duty post without any for of leave granted to them yet, the hospital management exhibit nonchalance about their health. This same management are covering up the recorded case of lasa fever at the sit of government. Note that if exposed staff are to be exposed health care givers are treated with utter neglect and should an epidemic of the disease occur in Abuja, the health personnel's are active untreated carriers to spread the plague in no time within the city.

The Minister of Health should as a matter of urgency ensure that adequate medical attention be accorded to all those exposed.

Also, the Federal executive council should as a matter of urgency appoint new management for National Hospital Abuja as the hospital is a shadow of itself due to ineffiency in running the hospital by the current management.

The hospital management are of the habit of not releasing funds for the purchase of basic working tools for health care givers despite the billions generated by the Hospital.

The Chairman of the governing board of National Hospital happens to be the infamous corrupt Hon Patricia Ete ( former speaker of the House of Representatives). The hospital is in utter lack of basic kits however, monies constantly exchange hands between the management and the governing board headed by Patricia Ete.

Serious financial misappropriation and corruption is ongoing in National Hospital abuja

N.B Ogbonna died early hours to today.
