Sports / More Goalkeeping Problems For Nigeria Ahead Of Sierra Leone Clash- Pulse Sports by Tundetechh: 4:42pm On Mar 28, 2023
The Super Eagles are set to be without their two main goalkeepers for the game against Sierra Leone.

The goalkeeper position is a famously problematic position for the Super Eagles, and their woes have now been further compounded, with first-choice goalkeeper Francis Uzoho ruled out of their next AFCON qualifier clashes against Sierra Leone.

The 24-year-old Omonia Nicosia man was in goal for all four of Nigeria's previous qualifiers, but Jose Peseiro will have to find other solutions in the next game, as the goalkeeper is suspended.

Why Uzoho is suspended

During the first game of the qualifying campaign against Sierra Leone, the Super Eagles shot-stopper received a yellow card in the 86th minute for time wasting, when he attempted to run down the clock to preserve Nigeria's 2-1 scoreline.

Yesterday, in the 1-0 victory against Guinea-Bissau, the man between the sticks for Nigeria was penalised for the same offence, time-wasting. The goalkeeper was shown yellow in the 92nd minute of the game, meaning he has seen the caution card twice during the qualifying campaign.

Sports / Nigeria Vs Guinea-bissau: A Tale Of Apathy And Woe - Pulse Sports by Tundetechh: 9:35am On Mar 24, 2023
The Super Eagles could seal AFCON qualification over the weekend with wins over Guinea-Bissau. So why does it seem like no one cares?

The last time the Super Eagles took the field in a competitive context, history was made in emphatic, ruthless fashion. That 10-0 drubbing of Sao Tome set a new record for margin of victory by the Nigeria senior men's national team, and saw quite a few massage their international goal averages in the process.

More pleasing than the result, however – for just how much could one get out of such an utter annihilation? – was the intent and mentality. whereas previously the Super Eagles could be relied upon to vanquish canon fodder in the most boring manner possible, here there was a sense of a young team, borne of a new impetus, spreading its wings and seeking to make a statement. Enjoying itself, even.

And yet, ahead of Friday's meeting with Guinea-Bissau, enthusiasm is at an unmissable low. it is highly unlikely that the attendance on the day will make any sort of dent in the 60,000-capacity Abuja national stadium; many do not even know that the Super Eagles will be in action either side of the weekend, and this despite the fact that, all across europe, Nigerian players are post headline performances on a weekly basis.

Sports / Man United Bidding War: Finnish Entrepreneur Challenges Ratcliffe And Sheikh by Tundetechh: 7:56pm On Mar 23, 2023
Finnish entrepreneur Thomas Zilliacus challenges Sir Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim for Manchester United

A Finnish entrepreneur named Thomas Zilliacus has reportedly thrown his hat into the ring for the purchase of Manchester United with an unusual bid involving the fans.

Finnish entrepreneur challenges Sir Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim for Manchester United

Zilliacus, who is the owner of the new social media group novaM is set to go toe-to-toe with Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim and British businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who have been the front-runners to buy Manchester United.

Zilliacus, who aims to buy the club through an investment firm called XXI Century Capital which is owned by his holding company, has said his bid differs from other prospective buyers because he aims to buy the club in conjunction with the fans.

Zilliacus proposes radical Manchester United structure

The Finnish businessman intends to buy only half of the club, while the other half will be owned by Manchester United fans, who will also be able to make decisions that affect their beloved club.

His proposed bid is markedly different from both Sir Ratcliffe's and Sheikh Jassim’s bids, and its novelty might be what propels him past them.

What Zilliacus proposes is a hybrid between what currently obtains in England, where clubs are owned by individuals or businesses, and what can be seen in Spain with Barcelona and Real Madrid, where clubs are owned by fans with an overseeing board voted in by the supporters.

Sports / Nigeria Vs Guinea-bissau: Osimhen In Attack, Uzoho In Goal But No Iheanacho by Tundetechh: 7:43pm On Mar 23, 2023
The three-time African champions will resume their Africa Cup Nations Qualifying campaign against Guinea-Bissau.

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro is expected to name Victor Osimhen in attack as Nigeria take on Guinea-Bissau in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday.

The Super Eagles will take on Djurtus in a doubleheader, knowing a win and a draw will be enough to book their spot in next year’s competition.

Nigeria will host the first leg at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Friday, March 24, with the return leg set for Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro.

Peseiro is expected to name a strong side for the clash on Friday, although he will be without his vice-captain William Troost-Ekong and his defensive partner Leon Balogun, who are not in the squad due to injury.

Nonetheless, Peseiro can still call on the services of his regular players. In goal, Francis Uzoho is expected to face no competition in the absence of Maduka Okoye.

With Ekong and Balogun out, Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi are likely to be Peseiro’s centre-back pairing.

Ola Aina is out of the game, so Bright Osayi-Samuel will likely make his home debut at right-back. Zaidu Sanusi arrived at camp late, but he is the only recognised left-back in the squad.

Peseiro is expected to play a 4-3-3 formation, so the midfield trio will likely be Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi and Joe Aribo, even though the latter has struggled for game time at his club.

Osimhen to lead Nigeria's line against Guinea-Bissau

The front three is an easy decision for Peseiro to make. Osimhen is expected to bring his club form to the national team as he leads the line.

Meanwhile, Ademola Lookman, who is also having a good season in Italy, will play on the left. Finally, Villarreal’s in-form winger Samuel Chukwueze will play from the right, meaning there is no space for Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho.

Nice forward Terem Moffi also misses out despite scoring 15 goals in Ligue 1 this season.

Sports / PREMIER LEAGUE Brighton Reveal Chelsea Broke World Record To Sign Graham Potter by Tundetechh: 6:09am On Mar 23, 2023
Brighton have published their account statement from last year, and it reveals how much Chelsea paid for Graham Potter.

In order to get current manager Graham Potter, who was the manager of Brighton at the time, Chelsea had to pay a release clause to the Seagulls.

The payment details have been released, and the amount is the most ever paid to sign a manager from another club.

Chelsea broke world record for Potter

Brighton published their 2021/22 accounts this Wednesday, and therein lies a shocking discovery.

They revealed that Chelsea paid them £21.5 million for Potter to switch from Brighton to Chelsea last year.

Potter joined Chelsea last September after spending three years at Brighton, replacing German tactician Thomas Tuchel, who was fired by the Blues' new American owners.

The £21.5 million fee is the highest ever paid compensation to poach one's manager, breaking the record previously held by Julian Nagelsmann, who moved from Leipzig to Bayern in 2021.

However, Nagelsmann could take back the record if he wins another Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double before 2027, One Football reports.

Potter at Chelsea

The English manager has yet to particularly hit the ground running, with his side struggling to win games and finding themselves in 10th position on the log.

However, Chelsea are still going strong in the Champions League and are set for a quarter-final tie against Real Madrid on their way to a possible third UCL title.

Sports / Ronaldo: 'saudi League Will Become The 5th Or 6th Most Competitive In The World' by Tundetechh: 5:59am On Mar 23, 2023
Ronaldo said that The Saudi Pro League is set to become one of the best leagues in the world.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who famously made an affluent move to the Saudi Pro League after a career spanning over two decades at four clubs in the top seven European leagues, has said his new hunting ground could be one of the toughest in years to come.

The 38-year-old has had successes in Portugal, LaLiga, the Premier League, and Serie A, and he holds the scoring record in the biggest club competition in the world, the Champions League.

Ronaldo is back with the Portuguese national team after a disappointing World Cup outing in Qatar last year, where he saw his undisputed status in the starting lineup abolished.

The World Cup followed an explosive interview with Piers Morgan that led the five-time Ballon d'Or winner to leave his boyhood club, Manchester United.

His contract was terminated by the Red Devils, and after a short period, he reached an agreement with Al-Nassr that makes him the highest-paid footballer in the world.

The move for Ronaldo from Al Nassr's side is in promotion of the Saudi Pro League, which continues to grow from strength to strength, as only recently, Odion Ighalo's Al-Hilal reached the final of the Club World Cup, the first for a Saudi club.

Super Eagles legend Jay Jay Okocha charges Victor Osimhen to join a Premier League club

Super Eagles legend Jay Jay Okocha has praised compatriot Victor Osimhen for his exploits this season with Napoli and offered some advice on his next career destination.

Osimhen has been in fine form this season with 25 goals in 29 games across all competitions so far, earning him praises from all and sundry including ex-Super Eagle Okocha.

Jay Jay Okocha hails Osimhen

Speaking to the BBC, Okocha waxed lyrical about the Super Eagles striker, acknowledging Osimhen as the credible goal threat he has been this season.

"He’s done well, he’s having a great season and I think he deserves all the praises that he’s getting," Jay Jay said.

"But I think the ultimate for him is to play in the Premier League which he has made clear as well. So, we are following his progress and I think what he can achieve is limitless based on if he continues putting in the hard work that he’s put in so far," Okocha said.

Okocha advises Osimhen on a Premier League move

Jay Jay went on to offer advice to the 24-year-old on a move to the Premier League, claiming that the league would help him improve as a player.

Osimhen is having his best individual season at Napoli

When asked if Osimhen should move to the Premier League, Jay responded, "I think so, it’s a league that improves players as well and you just have to find the right club that suits your game to make things easier for yourself but without any doubt, I think he’s good enough to play in the Premier League."

On the question of what team would suit Osimhen, Jay Jay said, "Well, I don’t know, a team like Man City but they’ve got Haaland now, I think Man United as well might be ideal for him because they’ve been struggling with a quality striker in recent years."

Jay-Jay Okocha has advised Osimhen on to move to the Premier League
