If it's northern Nigeria you are talking about, then your submission is false. I have being to Katsina, Kano, Bauchi, Borno, Niger, nasarawa, Abuja, jigsaws, Kaduna and adamawa state. The begging in these places is nothing at all compared to the south. It's in the north I saw a child of like 6 years begging and crying in the cold.

Begging is really a problem in northern Nigeria.

Judging by the timeline, many of those students would be the ones running Nigeria today, but instead of promoting meritocracy, they are tolerating it and some of them are even celebrating it while it destroys meaningful progress in Nigeria.

Edit: Like many of you, it came as a surprise that Igbo students would have voted in support of quota system.

Then I sat back and reflected and I realised a possible reason why the Igbo students supported quota systems was because of the large loss of young Igbo lives during the Nigerian Civil War. Remember that this took place in 1970 which is the same year that the Nigerian Civil War came to an end.

Igbo students may have felt that quota system would have saved them from being numerically disadvantaged in student admissions because so many young Igbos lost their lives in the war.

Hey... In a country like Nigeria, if there is no quota system there will be unrest and rancour. That is the sad truth. That is why I curse whoever thought of joining the north and the south together.

Just imagine that the southerners are the only one getting admission to the university based on merit. There will be chaos. There will not be peace. If we really want to be successful and move forward as a country, the north has to be educated. Else they will not allow the south to rest.

The only way out is a total disintegration of this country or we patiently talk and help the north get education.
