Yesterday, I started a series on how to be easily discovered online by the right use of keywords. Here is the link to the Part 1 of the series >>> https://www.nairaland.com/6182650/technique-building-brands-boosting-sales Today, we will be focusing on how to research for keywords (KEYWORDS RESEARCH). WHAT IS KEYWORD RESEARCH? Remember that keywords are words that people type and search for in order to get desired results on search engines. They are also called Search Queries. Keyword Research then is finding and analysing search queries, so as to discover and have a knowledge of what people are searching for? Most times, it's good to know what people are looking for online mostly so you can now build your contents around it. No writer or content marketer would want to write an article without getting readers. HOW TO DO KEYWORDS RESEARCH? (1) Find your competitors: In order to determine the keyword that best suit your business, you need to learn from your competitors especially those businesses that are currently ahead of you. Assume you are trying to start or boost your e-commerce website, if you're in Nigeria, your competitors would be one of the following - Jumia - Konga - www.farmermartng.com And others... So try to make a list of at least 10 businesses in your niche/field. (2) Competitors Keywords In your browser, search for Ubersugggest or enter https://keywordtool.io/ Enter competitors websites one after the other and collect their Keywords. You might consider using an Excel Spreadsheet to make Keywords collection easier. (3) Searching Keywords with keywords Take the Keywords from step 2 and search for similar keywords by entering them in the search area to discover more related searches. (4) Google Autocomplete You must have noticed that every time you type on Google, it brings up some additional words to serve as suggestions to what you might probably be looking for. That's Google's Autocomplete. You can know what people are searching for or how they are searching for them through Google Autocomplete. You can now build your contents around these. One additional use of Google Autocomplete is, it is essential when you want a long tail Keywords. Remember I explained the types of keywords in PART 1. I HOPE YOU FIND THIS ARTICLE HELPFUL? Good day Nairalanders. Trust your business is moving fast? I have some very beautiful techniques that would easily bring your products and services to the attention of the public. I will be sharing them today. What are KEYWORDS? Keywords are those words or phrases people type into search engines to get desired results. They are also words that describes the content on your page or post best. So when people search for that keyword or phrase in Google or other search engines, they should find that page on your website. Sometimes, keywords are called SEARCH QUERIES. TYPES OF KEYWORDS There are two types: (1) Short tail keywords: These keywords have one or two words. Examples are website, Website design, Website Development. (2)Long tail keywords: They have three or more words. Examples are; how to get affordable Website in Ibadan? Website development company in Lagos and so on. Which type of keyword is best for your business? At the beginning, it is good to focus on the long tail keywords because that it what people search for when they are sure of what they want. Long tail keywords therefore bring high return on investment. Choose keywords according to SEARCH VOLUME AND DIFFICULTY Search volume is measured on the basis of times that a particular keyword is searched per month. Search difficulty means estimated competition in organic searches of keyword. Your plan and target on keywords should then be MODERATE SEARCH VOLUME, LONG TAIL KEYWORDS, and should have LESS DIFFICULTY in getting. How do you know or determine when a keyword is moderate and less difficult to find? I will be providing answer to the above questions and more in my next article which is "HOW TO DO KEYWORD RESEARCH PROPERLY FOR ONLINE SUCCESS." Let me know if you find this article helpful in the comment section. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part 2 is ready now.
