TONYE001: Now, this is another angle.
Many will ignore this part of the story because if shots are fired here, they'll hit our parents, siblings, friends, ourselves, etc. Lecturers skipping classes, coming late, accumulating skipped classes to deliver one 10-hour lecture on a Saturday...a day students should use to sort their other businesses out.
All these amount to the Nigeria we have today.
So, we have 2 wrongs here....failure to pay salaries promptly, and not earning your pay...not doing exactly what you were employed to do.
Nigerians must learn to take responsibility. It takes us to make the country work, not just the leaders. If the civil service is corrupt (as it is now), no matter how good-intentioned a leaders, the workers will frustrate such a leader to failure....unless say na military rule or something like that. If the government decides to come hard on the civil servants, the streets will host unending protests and civil unrest.
Only way out is for us to look inwards and sort this issue out first. If salary delay is not punishment for missing classes or any work inefficiency whatsoever, while not talk about it in isolation? It's as simple as government should address the issue of salary delay, and university/poly administration deal with the issue of workers' inefficiency. This is how to be objective. |

Is it not wickedness to have workers salaries delayed until 8th to 10th of the next month? The meagre salaries for that matter o.
I'm just wondering ... Are the huge salaries of political office holders (especially senators, rep members, and ministers) delayed? |

I don't see where he quotes anyone to discard their opinions or responded disrespectfully to anyone for that matter even tho I don't agree with most his views What he does to Peter Obi, Labour party, Obidients and persons from certain parts of the country places him in same category as the troll. Ask how korah, haman, sanballat and tobiah ended up in the Bible. You may accused the guy of being a hater and troll, that's quite justifiable. However, if you don't consider Helinues as same, then it's a pity. |

GboyegaD: Truly, there is nothing wrong. I also feel there is nothing wrong if people are addressed by their name or with a Mr. if necessary.
It doesn't bother me but it makes me feel this is part of the root cause of our situation as a country.
What do you mean ordinary graduate? That said, does addressing an Engineer Mr./Mrs./Miss/Ms. change the fact that the person is an Engineer?
Everyone is a professional in his/her own career depending on the level of technical know how s/he has.
That said, in recent times, when I try to analyze the Nigerian situation, I feel the fundamental challenge is in our culture. Ours is a class system that gives too much attention to class and leads to impunity of all kinds. Everyone tries to oppress the other with who they are or whatever they think they have achieved and this is the reason the rot is getting deep. Then decide how you want to be addressed. How others are addressed shouldn't bother you |
