MSc Eligibility Criteria

The PTDF scholarship scheme is open to both Master’s and Doctoral students and each degree level has their specific requirement for admission into the program.

We wish to inform interested applicants that this program is highly competitive and with several thousands of applications been received on a yearly basis for the PTDF scholarship scheme since it inception.

Applications would be assessed by a ad hoc committee using the following selection criteria:

Applicants academic merit as seen in the documents submitted during the application, full academic transcripts, other professional qualifications acquired, and relevant publications (where available)
Proof of excellent leadership experience (where applicants have assumed any leadership position in any capacity)
Proof of being a member of any professional organisation
The viability of the study/research plan
Interested applicants would be required to submit an essay of not less than 500 words to make a case for themselves, indicating why they need the PTDF scholarship and stating the importance of their study viz-a-viz the oil and gas industry

Minimum Requirement

Interested must be sure to have graduated with a minimum of upper second class (i.e 2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field Or a lower second class with an experience in the oil and gas industry
Applicants must have undergone the compulsory National Youth Service Corps program and must possess the NYSC certificate
Interested applicants must have good computer skills
Applicants must have a minimum of C6 in WAEC/SSCE or C4 and above in NECO
Interested persons must be more than 30 years old

PhD Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility of PhD students enrolling this PTDF scholarship scheme is the same as those stated above for the MSc program. However, the requirement for PhD students defers as listed below.

Minimum Requirement

Applicants are to have a minimum of upper second class (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related discipline or a lower second class (2.2) with an experience in the oil and gas industry
Must possess the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Certificate
Must be adept with the use of computer
Must have O/level with Credit in English Language; (At least C6 in WAEC/SSCE or C4 and above in NECO)
Interested applicants must be employed in a reputable academic institutions in Nigeria in a field related to oil and gas
Must not have less than a lower second class in their first degree and must have a minimum of merit in their master’s program which must be in an oil and gas inclined discipline
Must have received an offer from any of the PTDF scholarship scheme partnering institutions overseas
Submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than 5 pages)
Interested applicants must not be more than 40 years old

Application for the PTDF scholarship scheme is done online as the application portal remains open until the scholarship deadline.

Interested applicants are to pay the sum of 1000 naira only (about $3) through the use of a debit card; Interswitch, Master or Visa cards.

Or, purchase the PTDF scholarship scratch card for the said amount at designated main branch of the First bank Nigeria Plc.
