It happens to most of us at some time or another: You're at a cocktail party, and "the blowhard" happens your way bragging about his latest stock market move. This time, he's taken a long position in Widgets Plus.com, the latest, greatest online marketer of household gadgets. You discover that he knows nothing about the company, is completely enamored with it, and has invested 25% of his portfolio hoping he can double his money quickly.
You, on the other hand, begin to feel a little smug knowing that he has committed at least four common investing mistakes. Here are the four mistakes the resident blowhard has made, plus four more for good measure.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
==> Mistakes are common when investing, but some can be easily avoided if you can recognize them. ==> The worst mistakes are failing to set up a long-term plan, allowing emotion and fear to influence your decisions, and not diversifying a portfolio. ==> Other mistakes include falling in love with a stock for the wrong reasons and trying to time the market.
1. Not Understanding the Investment
One of the world's most successful investors, Warren Buffett, cautions against investing in companies whose business models you don't understand.1 The best way to avoid this is to build a diversified portfolio of exchange traded funds (ETFs) or mutual funds. If you do invest in individual stocks, make sure you thoroughly understand each company those stocks represent before you invest.
2. Falling in Love With a Company
Too often, when we see a company we've invested in do well, it's easy to fall in love with it and forget that we bought the stock as an investment. Always remember, you bought this stock to make money. If any of the fundamentals that prompted you to buy into the company change, consider selling the stock.
3. Lack of Patience
A slow and steady approach to portfolio growth will yield greater returns in the long run. Expecting a portfolio to do something other than what it is designed to do is a recipe for disaster. This means you need to keep your expectations realistic with regard to the timeline for portfolio growth and returns.
4. Too Much Investment Turnover
Turnover, or jumping in and out of positions, is another return killer. Unless you're an institutional investor with the benefit of low commission rates, the transaction costs can eat you alive—not to mention the short-term tax rates and the opportunity cost of missing out on the long-term gains of other sensible investments.
Trying to time the market also kills returns. Successfully timing the market is extremely difficult. Even institutional investors often fail to do it successfully. A well-known study, "Determinants Of Portfolio Performance" (Financial Analysts Journal, 1986), conducted by Gary P. Brinson, L. Randolph Hood, and Gilbert L. Beebower covered American pension fund returns. This study showed that, on average, nearly 94% of the variation of returns over time was explained by the investment policy decision.2 In layperson's terms, this means that most of a portfolio's return can be explained by the asset allocation decisions you make, not by timing or even security selection.
6. Waiting to Get Even
Getting even is just another way to ensure you lose any profit you might have accumulated. It means that you are waiting to sell a loser until it gets back to its original cost basis. Behavioral finance calls this a "cognitive error." By failing to realize a loss, investors are actually losing in two ways. First, they avoid selling a loser, which may continue to slide until it's worthless. Second, there's the opportunity cost of the better use of those investment dollars.
7. Failing to Diversify
While professional investors may be able to generate alpha (or excess return over a benchmark) by investing in a few concentrated positions, common investors should not try this. It is wiser to stick to the principle of diversification. In building an exchange traded fund (ETF) or mutual fund portfolio, it's important to allocate exposure to all major spaces. In building an individual stock portfolio, include all major sectors. As a general rule of thumb, do not allocate more than 5% to 10% to any one investment.
8. Letting Your Emotions Rule
Perhaps the No.1 killer of investment return is emotion. The axiom that fear and greed rule the market is true. Investors should not let fear or greed control their decisions. Instead, they should focus on the bigger picture. Stock market returns may deviate wildly over a shorter time frame, but, over the long term, historical returns for large-cap stocks can average 10%.
Over a long time horizon, a portfolio's returns should not deviate much from those averages. In fact, patient investors may benefit from the irrational decisions of other investors.
How to Avoid These Mistakes
Below are some other ways to avoid these common mistakes and keep a portfolio on track.
Develop a Plan of Action
Proactively determine where you are in the investment life cycle, what your goals are, and how much you need to invest to get there. If you don't feel qualified to do this, seek a reputable financial planner.
Also, remember why you are investing your money, and you will be inspired to save more and may find it easier to determine the right allocation for your portfolio. Temper your expectations to historical market returns. Do not expect your portfolio to make you rich overnight. A consistent, long-term investment strategy over time is what will build wealth.
Put Your Plan on Automatic
As your income grows, you may want to add more. Monitor your investments. At the end of every year, review your investments and their performance. Determine whether your equity-to-fixed-income ratio should stay the same or change based on where you are in life.
Allocate Some "Fun" Money
We all get tempted by the need to spend money at times. It's the nature of the human condition. So, instead of trying to fight it, go with it. Set aside "fun investment money." You should limit this amount to no more than 5% of your investment portfolio, and it should be money that you can afford to lose.
Do not use retirement money. Always seek investments from a reputable financial firm. Because this process is akin to gambling, follow the same rules you would in that endeavor.
==> Limit your losses to your principal (do not sell calls on stocks you don't own, for instance). ==> Be prepared to lose 100% of your investment. ==> Choose and stick to a pre-determined limit to determine when you will walk away.
The Bottom Line
Mistakes are part of the investing process. Knowing what they are, when you're committing them, and how to avoid them will help you succeed as an investor. To avoid committing the mistakes above, develop a thoughtful, systematic plan, and stick with it. If you must do something risky, set aside some fun money that you are fully prepared to lose. Follow these guidelines, and you will be well on your way to building a portfolio that will provide many happy returns over the long term.
Business is one of the most exciting activities which you can perform. By exploiting opportunities, applying your skills and investing money, you can gain profit and financial freedom. Moreover, you can learn a lot about the business sector that you are engaged in. One of the most commonly explored sectors today is the real estate industry. This is where you can buy, develop and sell properties. They can be tracts of land or buildings. There are two main types of real estate businesses. They include residential and commercial real estate. Residential real estate deals with homes while the commercial variety deals with buildings which are used for business purposes. Examples of these are office blocks, manufacturing plants and factories. Commercial real estate business is quite exciting. This is because the clients are often corporations and companies which are willing to spend immense amounts of money on each purchase. As such, your commission as an agent or profit as an investor can be quite substantial. Here is how to get into and be successful with commercial real estate.
How to get into commercial real estate Get some training
The first thing to do is to learn as much as you can. There are professional organizations which specialize in teaching special skills for commercial real estate business. They teach the courses which are required to help you qualify for a real estate license. Accordingly, search for a real estate program which you can take. You can do this in your physical location or enroll in one online. After that, work towards gaining a license to practice commercial real estate.
Commercial real estate training also exposes you to various career options. They include:
• General brokerage
• Property development
• Property management
What is general brokerage?
General commercial real estate brokerage involves representing the buyers or sellers in real estate transactions. In this role you can assist your client to buy or sell a commercial property. You can also stand in for your client in meetings associated with commercial real estate transactions. While pursuing this career path, you are an independent contractor and not an employee of any real estate company. Moreover, you receive compensation on commission terms. As a real estate agent, you can deal in all types of commercial real estate or specialize in one type. Some examples of varieties which you can invest in include office, investment, industrial or retail commercial real estate.
Property development
Property development is another career path you can take in commercial real estate. This is where you actively develop commercial real estate and sell or lease it out to recoup a profit. You become a commercial real estate investor. In this case, you arrange financing, buy some land, build a commercial building on it and proceed to sell the final building. You can also opt to rent it out to tenant companies or organizations. Despite being time consuming and requiring large initial capital, property development is the most financially rewarding type of commercial real estate.
Property management
In commercial real estate, you can also perform property management. This is where you actively handle the daily activities involved in maintaining a commercial real estate property. Examples of these are repairs, maintenance and contracting of services. In this role, you get a salary from the owner of the commercial building for your managerial services. As such, invest in some training that deals with commercial real estate business so as to get into this industry. It equips you with valuable skills and teaches you about some career paths which you can take.
Work with a reputable company
If you want to be successful in commercial real estate, the first thing that you should do is seek employment or work with a reputable company. The name of the firm which you are working for is the most instrumental factor in your success. It actually opens doors and enables your emails to receive responses. The firm you work for needs to have a positive reputation in the field of commercial real estate. This comes in handy when you are trying to convince a client to work with you.
Reliable real estate firms provide clients with security whenever they are investing in commercial real estate. Companies can be known for their good reputation in a city, state or national level. Hence, make sure that you perform some research as you seek employment as a commercial real estate agent. Aspire to join the workforce of a reliable, strong company. This goes a long way in increasing your chances of success.
Pick your market wisely
Just like any other sector of business, your market matters a lot in commercial real estate. Consequently, look for one which has great potential for clients and profit. Normally, the market for commercial real estate is always better in the cities than in the countryside. This is because city properties have higher demand, more business activity and command higher fees. Therefore, try to penetrate city or urban markets when engaging in commercial real estate. In addition to that, make sure to pick cities which have a strong market. This is because some cities thrive more than the rest.
Interestingly, commercial real estate agents in thriving cities sign deals and close contracts on commercial establishments even before they are completed. This is due to the high demand for the spaces. Thus, target a city or urban market and you will be successful in commercial real estate.
Stay motivated and maintain a great work ethic
To be successful in anything, you need to be motivated. In the business of commercial real estate, you need to be motivated as well. Ensure that you find a reason to work harder every day as you approach the market. Moreover, maintain a strict, high-energy work ethic. This one helps you to achieve success by applying relentless effort. Finally, stay committed to your strategy in commercial real estate.
The Important Take Away
Commercial real estate is an industry which is here to stay. Companies and businesses will always need a place to have their premises. Also, manufacturers will always need some factories to produce their goods. Dealing in these types of properties is a reliable way to make a living. The tips above can help you to join this industry and succeed.
Several factors come into play when thinking about building a mobile app for your business.
And, mainly, those factors come down to cost and approach. It is not cheap to hire a developer to build an app for you, even if you hire someone with less-than-professional experience. And the more complex of a mobile app you need, the pricier it is going to get in the long-term. As such, looking for ways to build your own mobile app on your own time might be a sound alternative. Thankfully, software tech is evolving at such a rapid pace that building your mobile app without prior coding knowledge has become a possibility. You might be wondering though, “Doesn’t this limit my ability to build a dynamic and feature-full mobile application?”. I think there are many answers to this question, so let’s try and break it down.
As little as a few years ago, building mobile apps using builders was not precisely the most reliable route to take. The reason being that you couldn’t build anything more than a static app; without dynamic features. These days, this is no longer the case. This is because the newest generation mobile app builders allow for extensions, dynamic widgets, and streamlined real-time features. And, for the most part, as a small business owner, you don’t need much more than that.
"No Employer Should Retrench Workers Without Due Process"- Buhari Says On Worker's Day
President Muhammadu Buhari has assured that no employer would retrench workers without going through due process.
Buhari said his government will ensure that no employer would retrench or lay off workers without going through due process of social dialogue, which include consultations with workers and with the Competent Authority, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.
He said this in his message to workers to marks International Workers Day, on Friday.
The message was read on Buhari’s behalf by Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, during a virtual meeting with Labour leaders via ZOOM, in consonance with the social distancing policy and was contained in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Demi Adesina.
Full text of the speech reads below:
Quote Greetings Nigerian Workers! It is 1st May – May Day today but we know that something is not right not just in our nation but globally. Today is a day set aside for workers to celebrate the success of their historical struggles to have a “voice” in the world of work. It is equally a day to celebrate their partnership with relevant stakeholders to achieve sustainable development and contribute to the progress of nations in contemporary times. It is a day to mark and acclaim workers’ productivity in nation – building. But today, May 1, 2020, the usual pomp and ceremony characterized by sounds of drumming and march past by various Trade Unions and their Federations are missing in all the stadia throughout the Federation including our Abuja Eagle Square. This is so because we are fighting an invisible enemy to humanity termed Covid-19 pandemic.
In a bid to win this war, we set up a Presidential Task Force (PTF) made up of the relevant sector Ministers and highly skilled Health Technical Experts The government had to in a well-designed Expert Advice, lock down some States of the Federation where this pandemic is most prevalent – the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Ogun and Lagos States. Lagos State was and still is the EPICENTRE of the disease and of late Kano had to follow because of the new eruptions of Covid-19 in the State.
Offices, businesses, and various forms of out-door activities have been put in abeyance so that “WE” as opposed to “I” factor may prevail so that we may live for tomorrow. Yes, it is a common problem and interest and it is at this time that we must be our brother’s keeper by ensuring that “I protect myself and protect others from me”. I, therefore, ask Nigerian Workers both in the Public and Private Sectors with her FORMAL and INFORMAL ECONOMY to bear the stringent measures for a while for our common good. This would enable us put the ravaging pandemic under control and restore normalcy within the confines of relevant guidelines issued by health experts and the Government for safety against Covid-19 in order to curtail its spread.
I acknowledge that it is not easy but nations globally are in a state of war against this pandemic and in a war situation, survival is paramount.
Though the lock-down had been partially lifted in States aforementioned, except Kano State, workers are enjoined to observe subsequent rules and regulations issued to ensure the safety of all Nigerian citizens.
I understand the anxiety which has plagued the minds of workers over the possibility of job losses due to economic downturn caused by the pandemic and lock-down especially in the private sector. In this regard, the Government will ensure that no employer would retrench or lay off workers without going through due process of social dialogue which includes consultations with workers and with the Competent Authority – Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Furthermore, I had earlier put in place a Presidential Economic Sustainability Committee (ESC) with the objective of developing a credible sustainability plan for repositioning the Nigerian economy now and post Covid-19 crisis period. The ESC is required to specifically explore ways and means of growing our non-oil sector – all in a bid to minimise the adverse effects of the current crisis and to also protect existing jobs and even create new jobs to help absorb the teeming army of the unemployed even before the crises.
I conclude by expressing my appreciation to Medical Doctors and Healthcare Workers as well as their respective organisations, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU). These Health workers are doing a great service for humanity. I thank you all. I have directed that requisite incentives and hazard allowances enhancement and insurance for lives should be taken at these perilous times in favor of our Health Sector workers as a way of showing our appreciation. Also, personal protective equipment for their safety is also guaranteed.
Great Nigerian Workers, your resilience in times of adversity is not questionable. I appreciate you all and I know that with collective will and sense of responsibility, as a team, we shall triumph as a nation.
Observe all the Health Protocols as already established by the World Health Organisation (WHO), in terms of hygiene, wash your hands regularly, observe Social Distancing, and Stay Safe.
Adelaja Adeoye, the National Publicity Secretary of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), has asked President Muhammadu Buhari, to pay every Nigerian a sum of N200,000 as stimulus package, over the ravaging scourge codenamed COVID-19.
He made the call in Lagos on Thursday during a chat with newsmen.
According to him, it is necessary for the government to provide some palliatives, to support individuals and families who may no longer work during the stay at home order, over the fear of Corona Virus.
He made a further called on all state governors to pay double salaries to their state work force, and pay indegenes a sum of N50,000 each.
“To make the process seamless and transparent, the government can partner with banks to achieve this, since over 40 million Nigerian citizens have been connected through Bank Verification Number (BVN),” he said.
“Whatever that is due to each Nigerians, can be paid directly into their accounts.
“The issue of data base is gradually being sorted by the National Identification Management Corporation (NIMC), so, the payment process should not be delayed.
“Both Federal and State government can agree to make some deductions from the FAAC and JAC, for March and April, and disburse to every citizen from the age of 18 years, to support them.”
The call is not strange according to Adelaja, “because similar stimulus package is being offered to Americans by President Donald Trump, who has earmarked two trillion dollars ($2tr), to be shared amongst all American citizens.
“Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has also announced a stimulus package of $2,000 each for those who have lost their jobs over corona virus and this will be paid to them for the next four months. “Offers are also being made to other Canadians while they are at home pending when the scourge will be defeated.
“Nigerian government must learn to treat citizens like humans, and provide them with supports during this trying period.
“I would have asked the government to supply each and every homes with food items on a weekly basis, like it is being done in United Arab Emirates (UAE), but this cannot work in Nigeria, as majority of those items will end up missing in transit, apart from the fact that we cannot handle such for over 180 million people.
“The best is to do a direct transfer to them, so that they can use the money to buy food, drugs, and other items that will help them to stay alive and be comfortable,” Adelaja noted.
Adelaja stated further that the government should put efforts in place to reduce the tension and fear that has been created as a result of the Coronavirus, that “if care is not taken, the fear will have severe psychological effect on the people even after the scourge would have been defeated.”
He noted further that, “all the donations of anti #COVID19 materials, donated by corporate organizations like Access Bank, GTB, multinational, private individual like Alibaba CEO, Jack Ma, Folorunsho Alakija, Atiku Abubakar, Pastor Paul Enechie, Adeboye, and others must be strictly be monitored and should not be diverted by some corrupt individuals. They must be used for the purpose they are meant for, Adelaja concluded.”
The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has said some states have made false claims over the number of COVID-19 infected persons in order to attract attention and get huge amount of money from Federal Government.
Professor Ango Abdullahi, the Convener of the forum in a statement on Thursday, in Kaduna, said with the little resources available, the country can turn around its fortune of this nation in transparent and professional manner, but some states were playing politics of number with the current situation with a view to divert attention.
He added that what the country needed at the moment were good policies and facilities that would protect the citizenry.
The statement reads in part, “The forum regrets the appearance of attempts by many state governments to play politics with numbers for what appears to be expectations that more funds from Federal Government and foreign donors will be allocated to them.
“It is public knowledge that what the entire nation needs are good policies that protect all Nigerians; equipment and facilities for testing and treatment and resources to support people who will find it hard to stay at home without some palliatives during lockdowns.
“The forum acknowledges the assistance, in funds and equipment, from the international community. These gestures of support for our efforts at a time when they face their own problems are particularly appreciated, and it is important that our governments put them to prompt and effective use.
“The Forum similarly appreciates the tremendous assistance of Nigerian individuals and corporate bodies in this fight.
“We hope that all governments will utilise the vast assets in expertise, goodwill and integrity available in the private sector and professional groups and individuals in the country and involve them in all stages in the fight against this pandemic.
“These requirements can be met with resources currently available, but they need to be put at the service of the public in a transparent and professional manner.
“Policies that waste progress in some parts of the country and others which trample on the rights of vulnerable groups must be discouraged. States should adopt policies that suit their peculiarities, but the nation as a whole must agree on, and implement basic policies that protect the entire population,” it said.
“In particular, we commend the decision to deploy a strong medical team to, among others, verify the causes of many deaths that are being popularly attributed to the pandemic as well as assist the government of Kano State to improve its facilities, investigations and treatment of suspected infections and those who are infected.
“We cannot overemphasise the need for government of Kano State to take steps to regain confidence and support of the citizens of the state; to open its medical assets and give medical personnel the protection and confidence and other resources they need, and support the population to stay at home and observe other regulations with material support.
“Government of Kano State also needs to improve its strategic communication strategies. These will include higher levels of openness with regard to causes of recent deaths and more effective means of convincing the public over the realities of the dangers we all face,” the forum said.
An Abuja Mobile Court has sentenced two Pastors and three Imams to one-month imprisonment each or an option of N5000 fine for violating the lockdown order in the capital city of Abuja.

Most People Who Contract Coronavirus Don’t Feel Sick – Lagos State Health Commissioner
Lagos State Health Commissioner, Prof Akin Abayomi, stated that most people infected with coronavirus don’t feel sick, they can be exercising daily and feel generally well but are secreting and transmitting the virus everywhere they go.
The Lagos State Health Commissioner shared this information during a chat on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Saturday.
“ We ’ve moved from the imported stage to the community transmission stage and the virus is now jumping around and it is a highly contagious virus ; it spreads very easily.
“ The difference between flu and coronavirus is that if you catch the flu , you will know you have flu . You ’ll be terribly unwell , there will be no doubt that you are sick .
“ Most people don ’t actually know they have coronavirus . About sixty to seventy percent of people have a very mild illness it might just feel as if you had a rough day but you ’ re secreting the virus and therefore you ’re transmitting it .
“ And therefore a moderate proportion of people have symptoms and a smaller proportion will have a severe and critical illness. You could have coronavirus and be jogging. That’ s mild it could be. ” He said the state is aware of the difference in the social segments of Lagosians and is working on policies suitable for different strata and parts of the society .
He said , “ Every segment of Lagos requires a slightly different strategy. It can ’t be the same cap fits all . Someone in Victoria Island doesn’ t have the same priority as someone in Makoko for example. What Mr Governor is trying to do is to size up all the respective situations . He gets his situation analysis every day . He debates with his cabinet.
“ Livelihood is the priority and COVID -19 is just a threat to livelihood . There are many other threats to livelihood . And so in life, you balance those threats . And that other threat may be hunger or other kinds of sicknesses .
“ Lockdown is a component of social distancing and there are many factors to social distancing . What we are trying to do is to reduce the opportunity for the virus to travel from one person to another .
“ If seventy percent of Lagosians are in the informal sector , they have no safety net, they live from day – to -day . What they earn is what they eat , it ’s not like a higher social – economic segment that has reserves.
“ It is important that you allow your imaginations to infiltrate this segment of society and make realistic decisions that don ’ t disconnect you from these people . You could have a double assault in both ways if you make the wrong kind of decisions . ”

Footballer Due To Travel To Portugal Shot Dead After Mistaken For One Million Boys Gang Member
A Nigerian man identified as Stephen has been shot dead by a landlord in a community at Iba Local Council Development Area.
Reports have it that the man was killed while keeping watch in his area against the dreaded 1 million boys who have been terrorizing some parts of Lagos. According to reports, Stephen was killed by the landlord who claimed he thought he was a member of the robbery gang.
According to reports, Mr James initially claimed he thought Stephen was a member of the One Million Boys gang when he saw him moving around that early. Later, at the police station, he claimed Stephen was a cultist. However, residents alleged Mr James had a long-standing misunderstanding with Stephen and has threatened him with death multiple times. Residents claim Mr James killed Stephen intentionally and they have gone on Twitter to call for justice for the deceased, with the hashtag #JusticeForStephen.
There was unrest in the area following Stephen’s death but residents claim Stephen’s family have been threatened that there will be consequences if violence erupts due to Stephen’s death.
As a result, youths in the area have calmed down and have taken to Twitter to claim that Stephen’s death was premeditated and to ask that Mr James – who reportedly ”inspires fear in the youths in the neighborhood” – be made to face the law.
Autopsy Reveals How Diabetes and Lung Issues Complicated Abba Kyari's Coronavirus Death
Nigeria is still mourning the demise of the country's Chief of staff; More details are not emerging from the situation that resulted in his death. The Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari has already been diagnosed and declared to have contracted the coronavirus although he also had several underlying health conditions that were carefully managed by the advanced healthcare in foreign countries in Europe which are unavailable in Nigeria. Abba Kyari had diabetes and respiratory track issues before he contracted the coronavirus.
Sources said Kyari had shown signs of recovery which was a sign that he could be discharged only for his condition to take a plunge.
It was learnt that he even received some members of his family Wednesday in the hospital and walked around his isolation area to show his fitness.
Members of the family were said to be expecting his discharge on Friday.
The complications in his health were said to have arisen from diabetes and respiratory tract infections.
The Lagos State government confirmed last night that Kyari died of complications.
It was also learnt that the late Chief of Staff neither consulted the Presidential Task Force on the campaign against COVID-19 nor the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) deciding on private treatment in Lagos.
Officials of PTF and NCDC only read the announcement of his relocation to a private hospital in Lagos like other Nigerians.
It was gathered that he did not avail himself of expertise advice by NCDC and medical teams.
A source said the family was confident that Kyari would survive the Coronavirus Disease.
The source said: “As at Wednesday, Kyari was seen walking round his isolation area when some members of his family came on a visit. His health improvement gave a ray of hope that he was fast recovering.
“In fact, words had gone round to his relations that he might be discharged on Friday. But he died following relapse, occasioned by diabetes and respiratory tract infections in the evening of Friday. How his condition changed for the worse shocked all the medics around him. He died between 9pm and 10 pm.
“So, he died of COVID-19 and underlying factors or complications.”
Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has recovered from coronavirus,
The governor, who made this known on Wednesday via Twitter, said his family went through trauma when he tested positive for the virus.
But nearly after four weeks of being in isolation receiving treatment, he said he now tests negative for the virus as shown by two consecutive negative test results.
He wrote, Quote “I thank Almighty Allah for His grace and mercy. I also acknowledge with gratitude the massive outpouring of sympathy, prayers and public support that followed the disclosure of the infection.
“My family not only went through the trauma of potentially losing a member but also the risk of being infected as well. The entire family has been supportive as usual, while my many friends and colleagues from all over the world have sent their prayers and best wishes.
“I wish to thank the diligent medical personnel of our Ministry of Health and the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital who managed my case for their dedicated and professional care.”
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control as of Tuesday night, nine of the 782 total cases of the virus reported in Nigeria were recorded in Kaduna State.
Video of Pastor TB Joshua Prophesying The Current Global Crisis & Pandemics in 2013 Surfaces
A video of Prophet T.B Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, predicting the current global economic crisis caused by the novel Coronavirus pandemic, has emerged on social media.
“Whatever your country has discovered in terms of mineral resources and it has been a source of income, causing corruption, fighting and people living flamboyant and all that. Those things nobody will buy them. The price of oil will drop drastically,” he said in 2013.
Joshua predicted the crisis on December 28, 2008, three years later, October 16, 2011, and on December 29, 2013. In all the prophecies, the cleric sounded it clear that countries will be broke.
He said that the only solution was for countries and individuals to return to the farm, warning that no one will have the money to buy oil again.
The cleric said God has allowed this because He wants to humble individuals and nations to bring them to their knees.
On Sunday, December 28, 2008, he said, “There will be economic crisis, you are to cut your coat according to your size. (sic) Those of you that have plenty, if there’s any way you can leave moderately because the only way you can be saved is if your treasure is in the hand of God.
“There will be economic crisis, it’s coming and it will be everywhere. You will be forced to humble. There will be economic war because there’s not enough money to fight wars.
“There will be economic crisis. Countries that rely on mineral sources like oil should quickly look beyond oil. I’m just telling you a longtime prophecy not immediate. You can begin to prepare yourself now. Pray for the whole world.”
Three years later, on Sunday, October 16, 2011, Prophet T.B Joshua spoke further on the economic crisis that was to come, according to him, “I say to you, there will be an economic crisis. The war the whole world will face now is economic war.
“You’ll see every nation, every country will come out going on the streets protesting. And you have not seen anything. Write it down. Everyone will be humbled.
“Those who rely on oil and other mineral resources should look beyond because there’ll be no money to buy oil. There’s something God wants to achieve concerning this.
“God wants to achieve humility to the core. He wants everybody to be on their knees. He wants every nation to be on their knees and after that, the solution will come. That is what God wants to achieve.
“Whatever you have now, cut your coat according to your size. If you have too much, people will attack you physically and collect it. The time is coming and it has come.”
And two years later, on Sunday, December 29, 2013, he added, “People will be broke. Countries will be broke. Single persons can be richer than a country.
“Your oil, you will drink them.
“Whatever your country has discovered in terms of mineral resources and it has been a source of income causing corruption, fighting and people living flamboyant and all that. Those things nobody will buy them again. The price will drop drastically.
“So I want to say to you, we have to return to the farm. Fishing, cattle rearing. This is where we are coming from and we are to return back there.”
Meanwhile, the United States oil futures turned negative for the first time in history on Monday with traders dumping May contracts, according to Al Jazeera.
Analysts have warned that crude storage will fill to the brim by next month, and US shale firms weigh the real possibility of shutting down production.
Following the ugly development, President Donald Trump said yesterday that his administration will look at a proposal to block Saudi Arabian oil shipments to the US to help buoy the US shale oil industry against an unprecedented rout that threatens its survival.
“Well, I’ll look at it,” Trump told reporters at his Coronavirus daily news conference.
Just last night, a former Nigerian lawmaker, Shehu Sani, tweeted that the “Falling oil prices will affect Nigeria’s ability and capacity to implement its 2020 budget,” adding that “infrastructural projects, foreign debt servicing, international obligations and even the aspects of importation of defense hardwares necessary for the anti-terror war will be directly affected.”

“The government is being proactive by making available necessary resources and infrastructure in this race against time. Our hope and prayers are that this pandemic will be stopped sooner rather than later.
