They've been bang average since after winning Brazil 7-1 in Semi and Argentina 1-0 in the final. They have been struggling to make it out of group stage since then.

Yes ever since they won it in 2014, it has been a big struggle for them,unable to make it out of group stage.Even in this tournament ,the bookmakers are not even rating them among the favourites to lift the trophy.

A lady who sought for help to start selling akara and mosa only requested for a coal stove. I suggested giving her a big frying pan. I also offered spoon and few other items. She didn't need much. She cooks within their premises early morning and late evening. No KAI worries. Her husband told me that she's now doing well selling that and pap. She was jobless with little education and no sellable skills.

That is the point Madam Remi is driving at. Indigent people start small. They don't need bogus business plans.

I read elsewhere that most of the loans to this category of people by Lapo and other microfinance banks range between 30-50k. They know how to manage it to grow their business.

I kind of admire how you arrive at your submission but the point is the women at the center of the whole controversy have not been in the business before so if you want to help them ,tell them to submit a quotation of what it will cost to set up the business ,it's not just about giving them money because you assume it should be enough for them to set up such venture. And in addition, most of these women have things they do, either other business venture or handwork , so why not empower them in their line of businesses instead of telling them to do something totally alien to them because you want them to micromanage resources?

Thumbs up to obi , based on context the people obi gave the 10k were already in the business . The women claim their total capital was 6k while obi gave them 10k each which means they will still have an additional 4k to meet some unforseen expenses. But compare this to what the first lady did here, she just assumed 50k should be enough to start a business without doing necessary due diligence, didn't ask if its their line of business, didn't ask them to give her estimated cost of starting the business . She just deduce 50k will be enough to start a business. I'm sure the OP brought this topic up to malign obi but it's obvious obi made a more rational and logical decision based on context.

The point I was making which you failed to understand is that govt has a responsibility to see to the improvement of small businesses. Instead of Remi telling people to go and join others on the street to fry akara or roast corn, she should be empowering those in the business presently to scale up the business so that they can become net employers and improve on their service delivery. That's what small business are supposed to contribute to the economy and they can only do this with govt support since majority lack the capital and wherewithal to scale up.
Tell your boss that if Bill Gates had kept it simple, he won't own a laptop today. If countries like the US think as you and your goddess do, Microsoft would have simply remained in Gates' garage repairing IBM computers since it's all about keeping it simple. Akinola Aguda house that's the present residence of the Nigerian VP is only about 30 years old yet this frivolous govt saw it fit to build another one, something previous govts bucked due to the waste it represents.
