soloqy: @ The highlighted part, Linda Ikeji's blog is running on a blog with a predesigned template(At least the last time I went there, which is about 2 months ago). If thats what you wanted then you shouldnt have complained when he showed you two templates he downloaded from somewhere.

When you request/want custom work and unique designs, you need to be ready to pay for it(I suppose thats what Dual core was trying to say). Those sites you mentioned, ie Linda Ikeji blog and the other youtube person, are successful because of content and not because of any custom look or designs. On the other hand, try to contact the designers/developers of Elle, Vogue, and Gilt, and you will begin to understand what it takes(in terms of financial implications and work involved) to get a cutomised look and feel.
I understand perfectly when you say you dont have to spend so much to have an online presence but am putting things in proper perspective for you.

i told you am only building my portfolio, that's why i am taking the job. a shopping site with a magazine feature is from 300k to 1m. but i even invested my own money and time to make sure i get a professional job done with a fucking cheap price.

Javanian: I have been following this thread for a long time but havent made any comment yet because i wanted to hear fully from both sides, and it seems there was no issue of scamming here, it was just a little misunderstanding.
@wemaster i find you at fault for deleting her from ur facebook friends and not picking her calls because i'm sure that was what instigated her anger....and i'm also sure you did it out of anger/depression(if the story of stolen property is true). You also share some blame because i myself wont be happy to hear that my site is down whatever the reason may be...You were paid and its your Job so you are fully responsible...
@varies1 i think you were controlled by anger and motivated by a third party which is likely why you took things this far...after buying a domain, and giving you upto 90% of your site and hosting it....you should have given him time.
@wemaster i advice you give her the domain and refund her money to prove your dignity and clear you conscience.
@varies1 when he has done this you should render appologies to him in this site to clear his name since it was just a mere misunderstanding

that you visit your site and see your site is suspended say's i scam you? did u ask any webmaster/website guru what this means? before you come out to be this lousy? for a site that is 90% done, i had issues with my hosting company and you impatiently come here and screen that i scam you?

do you even notice that God is watching your actions? i know who is behind this this same person come to you and spoil me to you. give you detail about me being married and with two kids, this same person transfered the domain from my account to his own ( i still believe this same person is whom you even plan to entrust this project to). even you mrs umusu i know who is giving you all this stress, i called this stress because it has not yet reach such an extend you bring me to WORLD and screen like this and still ask me to give you money?

i have not in anyway scam or even plan to scam anyone here, my hosting account was suspended including my site because my site is also inside the same server and others sites as well. i have in noway scam her to the best of my knowledge that warrant this kind of accusation. i already made payments for the hosting and believe ebfore 24hours the whiole site wil be up and running. for the 25k, darm it.. mrs umusu did you ask shedrack/henry who i really are in the internet world?

it takes me just 24 hours and your whole life will be on almost 90% blogs.forum/sites ever hosted online. when it comes to media/publishing, i laugh you because you still dont know me yet.

soloqy: @Varies1 , I couldnt help taking a closer look at that facebook discussion and I saw where you mentioned Elle, Vogue and Gilt to him to use as yardstick. Also saw where you talked about photography and how you are using a southafrican photographer. You didnt mince words in saying that everything must be top notch. And on the other hand, I look at amount you offered him to get the job done and am baffled. Forgive me o , but this is the part where I think I always irritate some people on Nairaland. Most times, I dont know who to slate for this. The person offering such little amounts, yet have very high demands and standards, or the little, green horns who must make a living and who are just trying to build their portfolios, so feel they need to accept anything for any job.

This is not excusing the Wemaster in any way because an agreement is an agreement but....

Wemaster :
1) Come out to defend the alegations by the poster that YOU NEVER showed her any demo site (because based on that line alone did I find her at fault).

2) REFUND THE ENTIRE N25,000 without removing a dime from it within the next 48hours

3) Come here and post at least 10 of your websites you have designed and currently functioning on a paid hosting package and NOT A FREE PLATFORM.

4)Mention at least 2 nairalanders you have done website for and give the links to their website as well.

5) Come out and give reasons why you deleted the poster from your facebook page (if this alegation is true then it is obvious you intentionally wanted to avoid her)

6) If within the next 48hours you don't defend and ammend the above listed items then;

Let's hope he will show up... After all if a transaction isn't feasible, the next step is to refund the money abi? Thank you very much *voice of reason* Judge!!!!

Having said that and without acting judge in this case, my question to you both is "What is the way forward"?

donsheddy1: Let me make this clear to every one of us here. Siony as you know him is a web designer by chance; i mean those guys who get to learn things out of basic experience. Just This week i gave him money (#2000) to buy a domain name (http://faithrenewalministry.org) for me as i was traveling to ibadan and could not lay my hands on a computer to make my transaction/payment online. He assured me that every thing will be ready by 1:00 pm that same day. Since then i have been calling him for the payment details and my domain name and he was just saying all lots of rubbish not until i came back and went to buy my domain myself with my own cash - Do you know that this young man has refused to pick up my call Just to make a refund of two thousand naira. Now those websites where not blocked due to him not paying his bills but for using his host as another means of fulfilling his other mischievous acts. He keeps installing mailers for his yahoo clients on the host causing the hosting company to ban him due to not following the TOC of the company. He has done a lot but let me not say much until i see him - though his house is not far from mine and i know where to get him. I know he'll be reading this So siony you're in a big mess.

NO WHERE, absolutely no where in your post did you come out to say this young man had actually designed a previous version which you REJECTED and even sited the 2nd design before he went incomminicado

Did you ever care to find out if he had and Accident, critically ill, or even dead before you came out to try and tarnish that young man's image?

You saw he had gone deep into working on your projects so why frame the whole lies against him.

I will even like to know how much the whole project was billed by him, because N25,000 is way too meager for that man to jump on his chair and start working on that magnitude of job to the extent that you rejected the 1st design.

I think you (Poster) need to come out and openly apologize to "wemaster" and the entire house for hiding the truth of what really transpired between you both, because it clearly shows you are totally far from being straightforward and honest yourself.

na waoooo.. u said by chance. you are very funny. i have more than 40 websites in my portfolio designed by me and i cant even count how many i have help fellow designers to finish. am not here to boost my records but of-course everybody have his/her own bugs to fix. i just don't want to involve my clients to this post. else i wouldn't be the one to vouch for me but them. its just unfortunate this happens when i have a project at hand (uunista.com).

soloqy: Aha ! The website he listed in his profile : www.sionytelecoms.com , is down.

And nigeriaelites.com is down as well. But further checking, it shows that the nameservers for those sites are smartwebng's nameservers.

We have seen so many complaints about smartweb here in this forum so are we sure its not an issue with the host he is using? SmartWebng?

IF you were scammed, then you got all what you deserved for being a fool (excuse my French). tell me, if i put house drawings on my FB page, does that automatically make me an Architect? shouldnt you have contacted OWNERS OF WEBSITES HE HAD SUPPOSEDLY CREATED, before parting with your cash?

you would think that Nigerians are smart, but everyday we see instances that makes us believe that not all of us are.
