This is all looking like a deliberate plan to punish the state for enacting the anti-open grazing law by killing the people to submission to repeal the law, in doing so reduce the population of this areas in view of the coming census and make the place inhabitable for the people paving the way for grazing routes, if the federal government can't protect and enforce the existing anti opening grazing law of the state then it has failed the people of Benue state, that is why we need the passage of the bill on state police so the states can take responsibility, no part of the country should be terrorized for enacting a law for the purpose of self-preservation of its citizens. |
ChiefOloye:Benue boarder with Nasarawa state and the Cameron borders is where most of this attacks are lunch from, you hardly hear of attacks from the Kogi and Enugu or Eboyi axis, this goes a long way to tell you the support base of the attackers, the governor have said it severally that these invaders are foreign mercenaries, it's a war going on directly targeted at the indigenous communities to take over there land or diminish there population in view of the coming census, the locals don't have the kind of weaponry this people brandish, I am sure you read the part that some of the military personal who were responding to the distress call were also killed. |
Do we just hate people because they are progressing more than we do? the man said nothing but the truth , forget sentiments we claim to be civil but only when it favors us, we should be bold enough to look each other in the eye in this country and say things the way they are, Wike hit the nail on the head here, those presenters on Arise think they can come on air and spill nonsense, intimidate quest and play to the gallery like they are infallible everything is not about politics and whipping of sentiments , they should come off it, no wrong complimenting someone you criticize if he does something good. |

ibechris:That dynamics have changed the lies they peddled made many people vote on religious sentiments especially the whole of the middle belt but today the people have seen the difference. Majority of voters in Abuja and Lagos did so based on instructions from some sentimental religious leaders if Tinubu is recontesting, he is winning both Abuja Lagos and the middle belt in a landslide. |
ravensckar:If you think the people are daft then you are kidding, you obviously don't know what they know about the attacks? the killing is politically motivated the governor mentioned it and some of the hired foreign mercenaries caught made some useful confessions, not every bit of information is discussed in the public domain they are classified, Fulani crisis didn't start today but the current wave is politically motivated, the attacks are meant to pitch the people against the current government for political gains |

Ebeano49:I am sure you haven't read the full list of the awardees all the name you listed here got the award, please take you time and read through the full list, these ones where singled out by the writer for the purpose of his personal tribute and recognition. |
omenka:For the first time in our history we are on the right track, I wish more people continue to see through the prism. |
seborrhic:The attacks are in very remote areas mostly without good roads, telecom facilities and light, most of the people here are just poor peasant farmers the herders are obviously on a mission to take over their land but unfortunately the system that should protect them have failed them, there is a ban on open grazing in the state so what are the herders doing in the forest ? is there a country where its citizens are killed in their homes daily in such a manner without repercussion on the assailants and we all carry on like all is okay? The worst that will happen is to allow people to be pushed to the extent of taking up arms to defend themselves, we are sitting on a ticking time bomb. |
The President started on the right trajectory by the removal of the fuel subsidy, the tax reform bill , local government autonomy, state police, regional commissions and all the other numerous policies, this have freed up more funds available for both recurrent and capital expenditures, gone are the days states couldn't meet up with salary wage bills currently they are even up to date on the new minimum wage with most of them carrying out various projects and paying off previous debts. Two things I wish could happen will be the full implementation of the local government autonomy and state police, with both fully implemented the current pressure on the central government will reduce and people will begin to hold the local government chairmen and state governors more accountable because each of them will eventually become mini-Presidents ending the bulk passing and the blame shifting game. |
Factcheck0001:This is very informative |
The COAS should approve for the location of a military base within zone c of Benue state especially around the Apa/ Agatu axis, the closest military base is over a hundred kilometers way all in Makurdi the state capital, building an Army formation probably a battalion or brigade will play a major impact in whatever security plan they intend to put on ground, locating military barracks around and within that enclave will boast the confidence of the local populace and deter the frequency of attacks leading to its total stoppage, proximity is key. |
sylve11:If not for the resistance of the people the casualty figures from most of these attacks would have been in hundreds, this village have more than 3 thousand inhabitants most times those killed are mostly cut in the line of fire woman and children running in shock from sleep it's a battlefield against well-armed foreign mercenaries' those in the knowledge of this attacks appreciates the resilience of this communities, facing such an enemy with machetes and Dane guns, and more importantly you sincerely think the security architecture is not aware of this? the moment a community puts up a stiff resistance and repel such attacks you have military come in to seize and confiscate weapons from the locals, its a war situation no one gets killed in his homeland this way in peace time the earlier we all smell the coffee the better for all of us. |
Myrepublic:The numbers of casualties would have been more in all of this attacks if not for the effort of the locals because the mercenaries are well armed with sophisticated weapons even better than that of our military and i am sure you know our soldiers have complained about this severally too, the main issue here is the approach of government, the locals are not allowed to fight back or defend themselves the moment it is reported that a community was able to repel an attack the military swoops in to seize the weapons and disarm the people it's not a hidden fact. Beside all these attacks happen in very remote villages deep inside the forest more like farm settlements, the attackers come very late at night hit and go back to neighboring state of Nasarawa using bush tracks that's why you see attacks happening more in the border settlements. |
