It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to unfollow this thread. I have said it time and again “once the show ends the housemates are free to live their private lives.”. Following their every move on social media speaks volumes on how empty our lives are compared to them. While they travel the world and promote their brands, we stay in our homes, struggling with our boring jobs and contending with bills. Our former objects of entertainment change romantic partners while we stay; hopelessly single, hoping to find a similar person in our existence. We still put on a brave face while eaten by envy. We lash out with bitterness at anybody suffering the same fate wanting to feel better by raining our favourites with insults. We have made ourselves trolls — the very things we hate. Unending arguments have overtaken this thread, good while the show was on but pointless now it’s off air.

I am exempt from this situation. I admire the effort some users here have put in, knowing fully well I won’t do the same. I frequently visit this thread to laugh at hackneyed retorts. You people claim your favourite won last last and go to immense measures to prove it. I have concluded that every former contestant is a winner since random opportunities now locate them as opposed to pre Big Brother fame.

At the end of the day the people who benefit from these efforts are the ex-housemates themselves. Common sense is enough to show strangers that just by breathing oxygen alone the die hard fans are willing to reward their favourites with gifts of varying sorts. I can’t wait for the next set of Big Brother housemates to enter the studio so these ones fade into obscurity, although these people haven’t enjoyed their full one year of fame yet.

I tried to watch this new show for two days. It was boredom personified. Iyke seems the one who’ll enjoy the same type of fan followership to a lower level as these ex-housemates.
