It was such a sight to see our fellow Nigerians rushing and filling their forms onsite, that is a NO NO.
Take your time, read, digest, relax and fill accurately.

Then what I did was to Index all my supporting documents and did a summary of documents required that should be sent to support this process.

SUMMARY

Marriage Certificate
Recent Photograph
Current Passport
Birth Certificate of yourself & hubby (Sponsor)
Original Certificate of Award / English Test as the case may be
Tenancy Agreement (stating your legal permission to occupy)/ Letter from the Landlord & the Property Inspection Report to show it is not overcrowded and it is for your exclusive use.
Salary Slips of Sponsor plus any additional Income that can show maintainance capability.

Then for every part of the form there was an index stating what I submitted if any to support the question etc.
I used the A4 Index numbered 1-20 and clearly stated all that I submitted.

The basic steps summarised and since we are on the Maintainance Clause.

Please note you will need to show that you are legally allowed to stay in the accommodation and that is not going to happen if the Council is paying as this is from public funds.

If you want to continue to stay at this property, after discussing fully with your wife. Let her find out from the authority if she intends to start paying her rent would she still be housed at the residence.

To be fair, she cannot be rendered homeless.

YOU need an accommodation either by a tenancy agreement or letter o authority prior to travelling and better still prior to submitting your application.

It is just like someone going to holidays showing off cash funds with no hotel reservation, It all adds up.

Please I want you to get it right the first time.

Submission, actually the last on that fateful day (I will have to share that experience HELP ME LORD I PRAY).

Ok.

Submission, Friday 2nd December 2011.

Day 1 , Monday 5th December 2011.

Day 2, Tuesday 6th December 2011.

VISA Issued Wednesday 7th December 2011.

If you say 4, It's all cool to me; If I say 2, I mean my '2'.

At least the first post was stated a week.

I say a week or I say 2 or you say 4.

The fact remains I got it.

Since you have that kind of saving, I will suggest that you discuss with your wife and really she should get off housing benefit and you start paying for it.
Recourse to public funds is a NO,NO If she is your Sponsor to the UK and she will be as your Spouse.
The main issue is Maintainance and ofcourse Accomodation.

I submitted my application just the other week and went to collect my stuff back today with my Visa issued and I am just so grateful and It took only two days to process.

You want to ensure that you tick all the boxes and GOD helping you to get it alright the first time and continue your life with your loved ones.

It is good that you have registered, start applying and see what kind of responses that you get, you might even be offered a job and that is an added bonus.

Sincere apologies as I just got home and I am apologising because I thought it was a week as I earlier wrote when I checked my status which only changed yesterday.

I have collected my passport, THANK YOU LORD JESUS CHRIST.

I applied on Friday 2nd December and the Visa was actually issued on 7th December, which is two working days to process.

It has been a long day, so tired yet so grateful.

I read some posts in the Travel forum over and over again as one wanted to feel what people were going through as nobody wants to walk alone.

Kindly note my doors are well open to any question whatsoever for those who might need some encouragement from my journey.

Please note It would be the current documents relating to the application.
Pointers are to ensure that your circumstances have not changed as well.
It happens that people would fill the form and state how much they earn whilst submitting additional letter stating a totally diferent figure, not minding the statement not tallying as well.
It is your present circumstances that dictates the documents that is submitted.

From what is been rated now and since you have not mentioned what course you want to pursue.
Canada is a far better choice, I hope you like the cold.
Since you want to take the family along, it will be a different process.
What is your wife going to be doing?, how old is your kid?
There has to be more research, as the Masters could last at times between 12 - 18 months depending.
So the question would be the reason that you want to relocate your entire family for a Master's programme.
It is different if you had a job offer etc.
You need to do more research and to have the resources helps but that is not all on the checklist.

On the Maintainance Clause, ; "Able to maintain adequately".

On the Accommodation bit, ; "There will be adequate accommodation without recourse to public funds in such lodging which you occupy exclusively".

Since you are working and I appreciate where you are coming from with regards to your wife and the kids; do you send her upkeep?.

The benefits could be an issue, so sorry.

Other things that could be considered is the unemployment situation.

Do your CV up and start to apply for job offers, basically register with UK jobsites and look for such ones that are genuine which is likely to last for the future.

Is there any support from a third party?.

What are the benefits that your wife is receiving?.
Please note if she is your Sponsor, the immigration law to fulfill states that you must show evidence that you can both maintain yourselves adequately without recourse to public funds.
If you do not mind me asking, are you working presently, have substantial savings etc.
It is not your children applying, the case right here is about you and how you fulfill the requirements set out in the rules.
