Relapsed on day 51. Since then I’ve been going back and forth, now back on day 1. I just keep wondering is it possible for me to finally get over this habit

Day 35:6.. yesterday was like the hardest in the last two weeks, and to make it worst I’ve neighbors that we do smoke together before. I almost relapse when I was with them today.. but urges don’t kill. I promise myself not to ever return to this habit, so I will keep pushing .

So making it to 30 days yesterday. I decided to stay off alcohol also. Thou I’ve reduced it to only weekend before but I’m trying to stay off it totally now and see how far I can go. My body needs some serious cleansing. This is the second day without alcohol.

On a more serious note oga wavvyy... If one has a lethal addiction...not weed per SE... Maybe drugs... And one is trying hard to abstain from it.... At what point does one breathe a sigh of relief dat they've overcome d addiction? Is it after abstaining for weeks ... Or months... Or years?... Is der a mark sorta dat determines dat, yes! Av reached d finished line, am safe now...

Yes I understand you. I think it has to do with one’s mind and the reason for trying to quit, some quit because they don’t ever want to indulge in the habit again, some quit because they want to reduce their intake at a later date. Like stopping for 3 months to reset ur body, then start doing it like once in a week or month. It depends on what the person want .

But for someone that wants to quit finally, I believe everyday is a fight, fighting against the urges and total redemption will be after years. Minimum of 2 years.

In my own case now, I was once addicted to porn and masturbation, so I joined a thread here with others fighting to be clean. And there’s a medal for each cross line 30,90,180, 360 days .. I was clean for 30 days on my first trial, got my medal and sadly, I relapsed on day 31... I started again, and I was clean for over a year! . I got too confident that I’m over the habit only for me to relapse on day 372. I’m now back on day 41 now.

Can you notice the pattern? I was to fixated on the medal only to lose them after getting it. And now that I know better, I will do better.

So it’s a thing of the mind, when you’re totally redeemed, you will know it.
