As recently as 2 weeks ago, a Nigerian came to our WhatsApp and asked if we could help receive 100,000 RMB and 50,000 HKD through our Bank Accounts. Me: What's the Fund for? Him: I exported Agro Products to him. Me: Tell him to convert the Funds to USD and send to a USD Dorm Account in Nigeria if you are sure the Funds came from Legitimate Transactions Him: (Went silent - End of Conversation!) 2 days later, 4 People made similar Enquires. I am very sure they were all related. 4 months ago (in Dec 2024), we got this request to help "pick up" 220,000 RMB with our Bank Account. We refused to assist for obvious reasons. I later learned the Guy eventually lost the whole Amount because he couldn't successfully repatriate (launder out) the Fund. What are they selling? Probably Illicit Drugs (my guess). How do you lose such an Amount if it was indeed a Legitimate Transaction? Nigerians are something else! All sorts of Crazy Enquiries that I personally have received. Whether you like to hear it or not, the best way to be safe abroad is to assume that a Nigerian you meet is Guilty of Crime until Proven Innocent (not Presumed Innocent until Proven Guilty), even if you met at a Church Gathering.
