PoliticsGood Deed:Benefactor Writes To Appreciate Ogd's Magnanimity by Worldfamous07(op): 1:33pm On Sep 20, 2019
Testimony of Yesteryear
Whatever we do, either good or bad will not be forgotten in a jiffy, even if it is not appreciated today, someday, it shall be revisited for proper mentioning.

Today, I got this mouth opening testimony from someone, recounting how Otunba Gbenga Daniel through his magnanimous deeds impacted his life.

Text below:
I am Dr Michael Adekunle Abiodun. I am that blind fellow whom Otunba Gbenga Daniel used his kind magnanimity and good office to raise up from a sorry state to a success story.
It is my interest to see him, to reconnect with him as a son and to celebrate him as my God sent angel.
"Someone like Otunba Gbenga is certainly uncommon and his good deeds deserve worthy appreciation for encouragement for him and others".

Secondly, I will equally be the most grateful if OGD can write the foreword of Two of my books which are titled
1. Global Trade and Terrorism: International Organisations or National Governments who are to blame for the start, the continuation and the spread of Terrorism?

2. Transforming Ideas About Time and Money.

Immortalizing Four people constitute the greatest pillars in my life so far, these four include my late father, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, My young wife and His Excellency, for we couldn't tell today's story without God's intervention through Otunba Gbenga Daniel during the years before now.
So immortalizing him through my God given gift of writing will certainly be appreciated by God and humanity.
I will be the most grateful to have his email in other to forward electronic copies of the books to him and also will be the most grateful should my request to have his audience be granted.
From a son who cannot stop thinking about him, may God bless him more.

Otunba Gbenga Daniel is the founder of the Gateway Front Foundation, an organisation saddled with the responsibility of catering for the needy, especially people suffering from one disability or the other.

The foundation which started ever before Otunba Gbenga Daniel ventured into politics has helped tremendously in lifting people out of hopeless situations, the foundation did not limit its activities to Ogun state, where the founder hailed from.

Authentic news gathered that the benefactor, H.E Otunba Gbenga is committed to assisting people, and this is why he set up special section under the Gateway Front Foundation to help meet the needs of the less privilege throughout the country.

Our research further established that the non-profit organisation also earmarked certain amount of money for the support of indigent students in various tertiary institutions in Nigeria and other countries of the world.

Speaking with one of the staffs who pleaded for anonymity, revealed that the Gateway Front Foundation whose head office is in Lagos will extend its office to Ogun state to enable the organisation reach out to more people at the grassroots.

Recall that the founder, Otunba Gbenga Daniel recently quit partisan politics to enable him concentrate on his area of interest, which is humanitarian services, which to him demands a painful sacrifice.

There are various testimonies of Otunba Daniel's good deeds, and the most touching was an account of a young girl (Fatima)who migrated from Kogi state after she lost her parents, she got stranded in Ogun state, until her path crossed with the former Governor of Ogun state, Daniel, who gave her life a new meaning by given her job at Conference Hotel.

The story which generated numeous comments on social media was recorded as the greatest service to humanity in the history of mankind, and this earned the researcher, Ajibola Osunjimi an award of excellence by Tai Solarin University of Education.

In Conclusion, it is not out of place to use our God's given resources to lift the hopeless as this is the greatest commission by God to mankind.

We're proud of our Symbol

By Segun Showunmi

The decision to go to court on this issue of a stolen mandate in the February 2019 presidential election was a necessary sacrifice that a leader of the mould of Atiku Abubakar had to make, not only to claim his mandate, but also to free Nigeria and Nigerians from the perilous consequences of allowing our country to sink under an avoidable situation of bastardised democracy.

This decision was not made out of naivety; Atiku was not oblivious of all the tendencies that could play out, especially in the Nigeria that has emerged under Buhari and his ilk, neither was he unmindful of the burden of going it almost alone as with the case in situations like this where true to type people are quick to show up when all looks rosy and immediate personal benefit is in sight, but stay on the fence or use the door when it matters most!

Atiku Abubakar went on this journey because, all considered, it was the right thing to do in the interest of our nation Nigeria, in the interest of democracy, in the interest of all things decent and noble.

As we await judgment tomorrow, I can only say to our people: let us all be proud of our symbol - Waziri Atiku Abubakar, GCON. Let us be proud of ourselves from the smallest to the highest; let us be proud of our contributions to the process. Human activities are not without their own failings, but we must never allow our heads to be bowed. We must be resolute and know that our desire to get Nigeria working again is in order.

In such a short time, look at what we have become as Nigerians. We are now a shadow of who we are and who we are meant to be. The gloom in the land is palpable; we no longer have the respect of fellow Africans. Our internal contraptions are staring us in the face. But despite all, we must keep the hope.

Let those of us on the side of democracy; citizen participation in governance; free, fair and credible elections, equitable distribution of resources, shift in developmental paradigm to leapfrog Nigeria into a future that, under an Atiku vision we know is possible, work together as one people, with mutual respect and understanding of our differences. We must not be tired to work harder for the Nigeria of our dreams. This is what the whole electoral challenge is about.

Certainly, we are proud of ourselves and our brand champion, Waziri Atiku Abubakar (GCON). Let judgment be done even if the heaven falls.

Segun Showunmi

Four hundred years after robbing Africa of its people and resources, in what has been described as the greatest scar on the soul of humanity, what would the world do about it, and who should do it seem like two great things to consider.

Who should be held responsible? The descendants of those who exploited Africans, the African collaborators, or the nations that have benefited the most from this injury that has not been properly atoned for?

What would do as settlement or reparation for this man's inhumanity to man? What should the descendants of the slaves at home, on the mother continent, and in the diaspora, do about this historical injury that has created an imbalance in how things have evolved over the years?

Are we still in a more damning slavery in the form of neo colonialism and its attendant tool of suppression; the international economic, trade and financial order? The greatest injury, in my opinion, is the cultural colonisation that has seen Africans become so miserable as they now don’t have a value system that makes any sense.

We seem to copy or are compelled to adapt to every and anything foreign, notwithstanding how offensive they seem to our ways and belief. We have also had to endure some of the most damning statistical comparisons that give the impression that Africa and Africans are a near basket case of no gooders.

Perhaps, we could reflect and reimagine how exactly things would have evolved with the Africans, had they been spared the unfortunate history of slavery. What would our lifestyle have looked like? would we have been happier, safer and more stable? Or would we have been primitive and more neanderthal in our ways?

If the consciences of those who history holds responsible for the acts do not wish to be held accountable, shall Africans not regroup and demand of themselves the right to say this is Africa and this is how we intend to do our own things? Should we not insist on solving our problems our own African way? Definitely, no one can make us stable and prosperous than we ourselves.

May perpetual light shine on the millions of African ancestors lost to slave trade. Rest In Peace. May we find who we are and who we ought to be; right now, we seem so unsure of who we really are.
PoliticsElection Tribunal:why Nigerians Must Thank Atiku by Worldfamous07(op): 1:26pm On Aug 22, 2019
Why Nigerians must thank Atiku Abubakar

Segun Showunmi

The road any leader chooses to walk in his pursuit of redress, with respect to what could be a clear unsatisfactory handling of issues he is involved in, especially as it concerns the desire to democratically serve the country within the best of his capabilities, must reflect the inner character of the fellow.

Looking back at his conduct before, during and after the disputed 2019 presidential elections, one cannot but attest to the fine and statesmanly character of the Waziri Adamawa, former Vice President of Nigeria, and flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 presidential election, HE Atiku Abubakar.

Most men would have betrayed inappropriate emotions and candor unworthy of the high office they desire, particularly with the poor handling of political affairs by the opposition. One only needs to research the books and comments, even from Buhari, against the ruling government, when he claimed he was rigged out, to appreciate Atiku's civil conduct and patriotism. This has shown that it is indeed possible for dignified conduct to be exhibited by African leaders. It speaks volume of why we must, in Nigeria, now reflect on our leadership recruiting models.

The case is now before the authorities known as the presidential election tribunal panel, made up of 5 justices of the court of appeal. I watched very closely the handling of the issues that got thrown up by the lawyers to both Atiku and Buhari and, somehow, I feel optimistic and reasonably happy that with the way the trial has been handled, one can say: so far, so commendable.

I get the angst of the citizens as it concerns a disturbing pattern of messed up tribunal cases.  A lot of our citizens and watchers from across the world feel a sense of anxiety as to how the independence of the judiciary will be affirmed and how justice must be done. But I plead with us all to recognize that the principle of justice does not mean any of the parties can always have their way nor does it mean that once judgment does not favour one's position, then justice has not been done.

With profound respect, in my opinion, justice would have been done if the issues before the judges, having been considered on their merit, and against the arguments presented within the law, are reflected in the pronouncements and judgment. Judges must use every available opportunity to deepen the law and jurisprudence, especially in election cases. Our country has only been at it for 20 years, which means, at best, we have had five opportunities to bring the complex issues of leadership selection and legitimization process before a proper organ that is meant to adjudicate and interpret our laws.

For the benefit of the general public, what are the salient issues for determination here?

Issues for Determination

1. Whether the 2nd Respondent (Muhammadu Buhari) was at the time of the election not qualified to contest the election. It is strange that the very knowledgeable and well certificated Wole Olanipekun can, with profound respect, interpret Section 131 of the Nigerian Constitution to mean that there is no requirement to present any form of evidence, by way of certificate, to be qualified to run for the office of President or any other office at that. It is like saying that there is indeed no minimum requirement. The view of the court on this will have far reaching consequences going forward.

2. Whether the 2nd Respondent (Muhammadu Buhari) submitted to the 1st Respondent (INEC) affidavits containing false information of a fundamental nature to boost his qualification for the said election. What will be the thinking behind telling lies and making false information of a fundamental nature, not just in the case of elections, but really in all cases, and under all circumstances? Affidavits are by their nature deposited under oath to enforce their justiciability. How this is decided will speak loudly into the future.

3. Whether from the pleadings and evidence, it was established that the 2nd Respondent (Muhammadu Buhari) was elected by majority of lawful votes cast at the election. On this, the greater issue for me is how exactly we hope to improve the entire election process and what ought to be the role of a supposed independent umpire in the election process. We must be able to transparently win and lose elections, knowing well that the umpire has not taken sides nor done anything to jeopardise the right of the people to freely pick their leaders. What is democracy if not the right of the citizens to carry out this sacred civic responsibility?

4. Whether the Presidential election conducted by the 1st Respondent (INEC) on the 23rd February 2019 was invalid by reasons of corrupt practices. This speaks for itself and needs no further rehash; when INEC trains its personnel to carry out functions based on its training manuals and in line with the electoral acts and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it is expected that they comply, not only with the letter but also with the principle of the intention. And this, really, is to cause to happen, a free, fair, credible, transparent and acceptable election. It will be telling how the court will weigh in on this.

5. Whether the presidential election conducted by the 1st Respondent (INEC) on the 23rd February 2019 was invalid by reasons of non compliance with the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended); the electoral guidelines 2019; and the manuals issued for the conduct of the elections.

These are the issues before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
It can never be the duty of everyone in a society to fully grasp all the issues easily at first so we must, of a necessity, ask those that are better educated and informed to carry out their oversight responsibilities to the state by ensuring that interest is sustained in the matter of the presidential election and the potential fallout from the opinion of the judges.

I wonder how we can, in all seriousness, allocate the same number of days for a councilor to prove his case, the same for a House of Representatives candidate, a governorship candidate, and also go on to allocate the same number of days to a presidential candidate, not minding the total number of polling units under contention, the number of local governments, the volume of documents and the number of agents and witnesses that may be required.

Indeed, the way the presidential election tribunal panel rules in this case will have a far reaching impact on election jurisprudence in our country Nigeria, going forward, and we have Atiku Abubakar to thank for going all the way to test the laws of our great country on election.

Atiku Abubakar has closed his case!!!!Judiciary is before court of public opinion and their conscience

Segun Showunmi

And when both sides had stated their positions in the biblical story involving two women with one living and one dead child, the Judge, King Solomon, being a wise, God fearing judge, gave a sound judgment, which has become a reference of wisdom till date.

I have had cause to reflect on the difference between a lawyer who goes on to become a judge and one who goes on to become a learned silk. I am convinced that the difference is in the historical citations of the judgements that can grant a judge the reckoning of legends, for the authorities will be cited for ever.

If the judges will consider the case before them, the arguments and the detailed efforts of the counsels to the judex in the 2019 presidential election tribunal between Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Mohammadu/Mohamed/Mohammodu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, in the expected manner, then Nigerians should warm up for a sound judgement.

Lest I forget, pardon my writing many versions of the President's name. There is clearly an identification crisis in determining who exactly was presented in the 2019 elections, given that all documents on eligibility and waec certificates carry too many different names. This has created an identity crisis, bordering on either identity theft or multiple personalities masquerading as one individual in a curious twist that has left the question of eligibility sticking out like a sore thumb.

One just needs to read the written closing remarks as presented and filed at the presidential election tribunal to know that as judgement was easy for King Solomon, so it ought to be for the panel of judges. Like in the Solomonic story, the facts speak for themselves.

Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and his legal team have proven beyond reasonable doubt the substance of their case and their prayers ought to be granted. No court should allow anyone profit from their indolence, for clearly, Buhari's legal team did not defend their case or provide answers to the issues under contention.

History beckons. Truly, the Judiciary is before the court of both public opinion and their conscience.

When you arrest and charge the son in-law of Atiku Abubakar for handling $120,000 during an election season, meanwhile, you know what you spent on your election and how the money was sourced, then hypocrisy has no other name than yours.

It shows that, having endangered the country, you have no right to lead it, for there is a protocol by which nations are managed. Are they saying that we must now accept the idea that family members of the highest ranking in our society must brace up for this type of treatment? Karma teaches us that what goes round has a way of coming around.

Nonetheless, I trust that Babalele, being a proper Muslim, will bear this burden with dignity.

Let us hope that bail is set at a reasonable level, while we mustn't forget that greater damage is done by not being mindful of the consequences of hateful actions.

No Hiding Place Again Declare Atiku Winner of the 2019 Presidential Election:Shetimma Tells Tribunal

'INEC's refusal to call witnesses proves Atiku won'

The National Chairman of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, has called on the presidential election tribunal to declare the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, the winner of the February 23 presidential election.

Shettima's call came on the heels of the refusal of the Independent National Electoral Commission to call any witness to defend its case against the petition filed by the opposition PDP, on Monday, at the presidential tribunal sitting on Monday.

Atiku and the PDP are challenging the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner by INEC.
Shettima, who spoke with our correspondent on the issue, said the refusal of INEC's lawyers to provide witnesses to debunk Atiku/PDP's claims was enough for the tribunal to declare Atiku the winner of the election.

He added that beyond the activities at the tribunal, Nigerians were already clear about the "fact that INEC wrongly declared Buhari the winner."

He said, "I am just concerned if the Presidential tribunal will declare the rightful winner of the election. Nigerians already know what transpired during the elections, before the case got to the tribunal. But now that the case is at the tribunal we hope that justice will be done as expected by everyone.

"Today now, we all saw what happened at the tribunal. And we all know what that implies. I wish the court will do the right thing.

However, whatever they do, the consequence is awaiting us in the future. I would tell them to be careful not to allow a repeat of what happened during the 1993 election between MKO Abiola and Bashir Tofa."

Shettima said whatever happened, while the tribunal sittings last, would forever remain in the history of Nigeria's democracy, adding that the next generation would never forget whoever participated in rewriting history.

He said, “For INEC not to bring a witness simply means that they know the truth. It also means that what PDP brought forward was the true picture of what transpired during that election. And if that be the case, the court should not delay in doing justice to the matter by declaring Atiku the winner of the election.”

When the tribunal called INEC to open its case, on Monday, the electoral umpire’s lawyer, Yunus Usman (SAN), affirmed before the tribunal that it would not be necessary on the grounds that the evidence extracted from the petitioners’ witnesses during cross-examination was in support of the commission’s case.

His choice as a Minister-to-be, subject to confirmation by the Senate, is not surprising to many who have had the chance to meet personally with or listen to this amiable, humane, selfless and highly - enlightened individual.

He hails from Abeokuta in the Ogun Central Senatorial District of Ogun State and is the immediate past Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure in the State.

Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite is also an astute administrator with noble ideas and doggedness in his beliefs and carrier pursuits, little wonder he rubs shoulders with the top echelons of his professional Institute and served on many of its committees and boards.

An enigma of impeccable character and resources, he is very resourceful, intelligent, brilliant and a shinning example of ‘brainy professionals in politics’.

Without a doubt, nor gainsaying any fact, Ogun State has yet again thrown one of its shinning lights into the national discourse and obviously , Olamilekan Adegbite will weather the storm, bridge the gap and mould the tides.

PoliticsA Voice Beyond An Opposition In :segun Showunmi Representing The Hopeless Masses by Worldfamous07(op): 8:32pm On Jul 21, 2019
A VOICE BEYOND AN OPPOSITION IN NIGERIA:SEGUN SHOWUNMI REPRESENTING THE OPINION OF THE MASSES
Nigeria is a country with multicultural background, the uniqueness of this entity is in her university in diversity which indicates that what is acceptable in one culture is likely to be unacceptable in another, even with these differences, it is easy to marry diverse cultures without one undermining the other.

The democracy we practice in Nigeria allows for the people to freely express their opinions as it affect the government policies. For the past Eight years, the job of a viable opposition has been singled handed carried out by a voice who is known for calling government's attention to do the needful. This voice has not only represented the major opposition party, rather it has taken the yearnings of the people into consideration with the positive motive that only a united Nigeria can provide basic amenities of life for its citizens.
To this 'VOICE' the business or affairs of government should be carried out in a more transparent manner which will give room to accountability, checks, and balances.
Segun Showunmi has taken the job of being a Spokesperson to another level if compared to what Lai Mohammed offered when All Progressive Congress was in opposition. It was an era that APC believed that the only way to send PDP packing is to sow seeds of discords capable of bringing internal fracas that can lead to war.
There exists a clear cut difference between the way Segun Showunmi is handling his affair, instead of uttering or writing inciting comments that can truncate the fragile peace of the nation, he concentrated on issues, not attacking the government, pointing out lapses and equally providing solution to them.
It was the very first time in this country that, a major opposition will shelve his ambition to lead by all means and speak for the teeming population that is helpless and needed as heard.
Without being bias, average reasonable Nigerians will totally agree that Segun Showunmi has been discussing the issue of Nigeria so passionately that he looks like a crying bird, the agony of a wealthy nation that is in perpetual poverty and the uncontrolled killings were the reasons why Segun will always speak out even in the face of tyranny.
In my analysis of Showunmi's interviews, it is evident that he carried the wellness of the people of Nigeria in his heart more than the interest of few individuals.
In one of his interview via online media, Showunmi expressed his bitterness over the state of the nation, comparing the level of development in Dubai to the snail-like approach of our country.
Segun opined that the backwardness of our nation is a pointer to the fact that right people are not at the helm of affairs, and, until good crops of people are allowed into the business of governance the development we crave for will forever be a wishful thinking.
For the avoidance of doubt on the matured and experienced manner at which Segun performs his duties, sometimes ago, he wrote a powerful letter to President Muhammadu Buhari admonishing him to call his aides to order so as not to push the nation into unending chaos, for someone in opposition to have said this, one could say without blinking an eye that the continued existence of Nigeria is so paramount to him.
Another bold and meaningful step taken by Showunmi was the recent letter which had over 35 million readership, a letter he used to call the attention of Mr. President to the need to urgently put his cabinet together as the affair of the nation cannot be run like that of private enterprises.
It is good to state that Segun Showummi has made himself available to be a voice for the hopeless, his comment goes beyond tribal or ethnic affinity, he does not limit his watchdog activities to the ruling party, he has also extended this to his party, ensuring there is a levelling playing ground for principal actors; and, that those who are representing the party at various levels imbibe good moral behaviour.
There are various examples to back up my views that Showunmi has taken his voice beyond our political arena, no wonder, he lampooned men of God that have desecrated the temple of God, reminding them of the need for holy consecration, and total commitment to God's work.
In Ogun state where Segun hailed from, he has been the voice of unity, constantly saying that the killings, arsons, kidnappings and other act of insecurities should not be laid at the door posts of the Fulani herdsmen, rather they should be treated as acts of terrorism capable of leading the nation to another civil war.
While evaluating the success of Segun's contribution to National unity and development, the recent ministerial list released from the office of the President is an indicator that Segun's watchdog roles are yielding positive maximum results.

As Segun Showunmi takes his spokesman job beyond his political party, there is a need for other well meanings Nigerians to lend thier supports to this Egba born vibrant commentator in order not make him a lone voice in the wilderness of Nigeria.

If there is anything Segun Showunmi will be remembered for, it is his unique courage to speak out in the face of repression, depression, oppression and suppression. Segun has not been the voice of H.E Atiku Abubakar, he has become the voice of all Nigerians, more reason his open letter was rated the second widely read, after an Open letter written to the former President Goodluck Jonathan by the former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

In Conclusion, let us know that the level at which Segun is playing his opposition card is beyond the interest of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, it's in the overall interest of the common man on the street of Nigeria, in the overall interest of all of us.

The newly Sworn in Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has declared his assets worth #48bn which is one of the requirements for political office holders in Nigeria.

The Governor who sees the need to make his assets public to give room for transparency and accountability was the second person to do so after the former Governor of Ogun state between 2003 – 2011, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

Daniel who displayed his level of openness when assumed office declared #5.96bn in 2003 and #4.46bn which showed there was 25% drop in the asset declared earlier.

Reacting to Seyi Makinde's assets declaration story, a PR Strategist, Mr. Ajibola Osunjimi said this is what is expected from public office holder, and that was exactly what Daniel did during his term.

He further stated that politics should not be seen as money making platform, rather, it should be an avenue to serve the people with no expectation from that office.

Ajibola added that Otunba Gbenga Danel had set a very good example that should be followed by other politicians, which is a way to build, confidence in them and the position occupied.

“In the history of our great country, the late President Yar'adua was one of the few that had done public assets' declaration, the step I can say was gotten from Otunba Gbenga Daniel”says Ajibola.

He enjoined all politicians and other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate this enviable behaviour.
