In Kiev, they said Bakhmut was a fortress city, a fort… but in reality, there was nothing in the center except for concrete gouges that would not stop the infantry, flimsy pillboxes and trenches.

All their fortresses are positions equipped in high-rise residential and administrative buildings.

In terms of engineering training, they did not bother much. Wagner say that Opitnoe was more difficult to take than the center of Bakhmut. But it certainly wasn't an easy ride.
