Ska333ko:Just found that many Middle Eastern countries have been purchasing Russian weapons even after the 2022 war. There's a saying that the family that makes alot of noise while cooking in their kitchen, thinks their quiet neighbors don't eat. The US thinks because they make alot of buzz about their weapons sales.... That Russia doesn't sell weapons. What do you think Viktor Bout was released for?? It's just like how they still think Russia has only 64 submarines up till now. |
⚡A Secretive $120 million weapon built for US Space Force that JAMS Russian and Chinese satellites is finally set for delivery as flaws are fixed following a two-year delay. The 'Meadowlands' system is a powerful satellite jammer built to temporarily knock out enemy communications at the start of a conflict. Using a blast of radio signal, the US Space Force's new $120 million weapon 'screams' so loudly that it drowns out any other messages. Originally slated for delivery in 2022, the weapon was dogged by a series of unspecified technical errors which led to more than two years of delays. However, Space Force now says that the system has passed 'all system-level verification testing' and is on track for delivery at the start of 2025. Designed by a Florida firm called L3Harris Technologies Inc., Meadowlands is a lighter, more mobile version of America's first offensive electronic weapons.

The system, known as Meadowlands, was supposed to be operational in 2020, but the new model has modern software and enhanced capabilities and should be operational in October 2022, the report said. The Space Force plans to assess the combat readiness of the 32 weapons in January-March 2025, the agency said. |

⚡German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Thursday rejected Ukraine’s request to immediately join NATO, made by President Volodymyr Zelensky when he presented his “Victory Plan” to Western allies. “It is important to realise that a country at war absolutely cannot become a member of NATO,” Scholz told public broadcaster ZDF. “Everyone knows that, there is no disagreement on this subject.” The German leader added that for the trans-Atlantic defence alliance, “an invitation is normally quite quickly linked to membership”. Scholz said that in the past “we have described a perspective” towards Ukrainian membership in the longer term, at NATO summits in Vilnius last year, then in Washington this summer. “But I think that beyond that, there is currently no need for any new decision,” he said. |

⚡The IMF wants to know more about a cross-border payments system discussed by the BRICS group of countries this week and aimed at boosting non-dollar transactions, the Fund’s managing director said Thursday. The meeting of the BRICS — meaning Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa — took place in the Russian city of Kazan at the same time as the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington. The BRICS group has expanded significantly since its inception in 2009, and now includes countries such as Iran, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. Altogether the BRICS coalition accounts for a significant minority of the world’s economic output. At the Kazan summit, Russia secured a joint declaration encouraging the “strengthening of correspondent banking networks within BRICS and enabling settlements in local currencies in line with BRICS Cross-Border Payments Initiative (BCBPI).” The system is designed to rival the European-headquartered SWIFT payments system, from which Russia was barred following its 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Speaking to reporters at the IMF’s headquarters in Washington on Thursday, IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva said the Fund wanted additional information about the proposed payments system before taking a firm stance on it. “The idea of having a payments system of a group of countries is not new,” she said. “What we need to see is more details,” she added. “What is it in this idea? How that may translate into reality? And then we will be able to assess it.” During her press conference, Georgieva said the Fund was focused on two main objectives going forward: Ensuring inflation rates return to central bank targets without spurring a deep recession; and fixing the current “low growth, high debt path” that many countries are on. |
