⚡French nuclear giant Orano reported a €133 million loss for the first half of the year, attributing it to the "highly degraded" political situation in Niger following the military coup last year. The coup on July 26, 2023, disrupted imports of critical materials needed for uranium extraction, including soda ash, carbonate, nitrates, and sulfur.

Sales were halted in 2024 due to a lack of logistics solutions approved by Niger's authorities. In late June, Niger revoked the license of Imouraren SA, a company jointly operated by Orano, Niger Mining, and Korea Electric Power, further complicating the situation.

According to Claverie, Orano warns that the ongoing difficulties could lead to "insolvency in the short to medium term" in the coming months.

⚡Ukrainian President Zelenskyy is facing significant criticism due to recent Russian advances in eastern Ukraine.

Russian forces have made rapid progress in the Donetsk region, particularly near the strategically important city of Pokrovsk.

They have captured over two dozen towns and villages in the past three weeks, including the stronghold of Niu-York.

Russian troops are now reportedly just 8km from Pokrovsk.

Pokrovsk is one of two key rail and road junctions in the Donetsk region. Its potential loss threatens the logistics of Ukraine's entire military operation in the region.

Many are blaming the leadership in Kyiv for weakening Ukraine's eastern defenses by redeploying troops to the Kursk operation. Critics include soldiers, lawmakers, and military analysts.

⚡One of the outcomes of President Putin's visit to Azerbaijan is that Gazprom is expanding its strategic cooperation with the Azerbaijani company SOCAR.

They discussed the "North-South" project, which is clearly the international transport corridor without any U.S. bases.

It is shorter and more versatile for transporting goods to various countries. However, with Gazprom and SOCAR involved, it primarily concerns gas (both pipeline and LNG).

I dey fine o.

For the past weeks, I have been binge-watching ww2 series, especially the invasion of the USSR by nazi Germany.

From ''operation Barbarossa'', to ''operation Bragation'', to the battle of Stalingrad, to the ''parade of the vanquished'', and the capture of Berlin.

I keep wondering, what the hell gave Hitler the belief that he could defeat the USSR—given the population, size, and battle hardened people of the USSR?

I think the same belief is what Nato is drunk under, hence they keep Poking Russia and want to try again to defeat Russia like their ancestors tried. Just that this time, even if they defeat Russia, mutually assured destruction is guaranteed. The ''Dead hand'' system exists for a reason.

It is difficult not to respect the Red Army for the price they paid, and anyone with common sense who can think independently can see it. These guys saved the world for things we don't even know may happen to the rest of us who are weak (especially in Africa).

Surprisingly for all my close to five years of interest in geopolitics, I am just hearing about ''the parade of the vanquished''. I didn't know Hitler's defeated soldiers were paraded in Moscow in such a shameful way. The mainstream has done well to hide it. It was such a shame. No wonder Hitler committed suicide.
💯 🎯

There's a popular belief that once every 100 years, the West pick up their swords/guns and march to Russia hoping to defeat it.

They get their nose bloodied and retreat back to their shell where they lick their wounds and wait 100 years for another opportunity.

On and on it goes....
