⚡The 🇪🇺 EU wants to collect taxes from the assets of the Central Bank of Russia.

The EU authorities are ready to impose a profit tax on more than €200 billion of frozen assets of the 🇷🇺 Russian Central Bank, reports Bloomberg.

In turn, the European Commission will propose how to legally formalize the transfer of income from assets to the bloc's budget.

The first meeting will take place on Thursday with representatives from 🇪🇸 Spain, 🇧🇪 Belgium, 🇮🇹 Italy, 🇫🇷 France and 🇩🇪 Germany.

Profit from assets is expected in the amount of €3 billion. Of course, the money will be spent on the restoration of 🇺🇦 Ukraine.

⚡Biden administration moving to escalate energy trade dispute with Mexico.

President Joe Biden's administration has asked U.S. energy companies to prepare affidavits documenting how Mexico’s protectionist policies disrupted their investments as 🇺🇸 Washington prepares to escalate a trade dispute with its neighbor, according to three people familiar with the discussions.

Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's steps to roll back reforms aimed at opening Mexico's power and oil markets to foreign competitors ultimately sparked the trade dispute.

U.S. energy and power companies, such as Chevron and Marathon Petroleum, which sought to expand in Mexico, have complained that they have been denied simple permits and applications in decisions that favored state oil company Petroleos Mexicanos and national power utility Comision Federal de Electricidad.

The United States is likely to seek a dispute panel before the end of the year if talks on the issue continue to stall, and the affidavits represent evidence that would be included in the panel request, the sources said.

If that panel rules against 🇲🇽 Mexico and it fails to take corrective action, Washington could ultimately impose billions of dollars in retaliatory tariffs on Mexican goods.

⚡NHK is reporting that Russian and North Korean officials are actively coordinating efforts to have 🇰🇵 North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, and Russian President Putin meet. One of the places being reviewed is on an island off the coast of Vladivostok.

There is also active discussions to have both visit a military-related facility in the 🇷🇺 Russian Far East.

The 🇺🇸 U.S. and 🇰🇷 South Korea are becoming extremely concerned since there is a possibility of a transfer of advanced weapon technology to North Korea.

Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema has warned potential coup plotters not to threaten the southern African nation’s democratic rule and stability.

It is not clear why he sounded the warning, but it comes in the aftermath of several recent coups in Francophone Africa and complaints at home about the rising cost of living.
