Hi Wylout, I really don't know what you refer to as Lower control arm, but I have two diagrams that show the front axle of the 5th Gen Maxima.
The first diagram shows the stabilizer bushings. if this is what you mean, then yes they are replaceable.
The second diagram shows the Traverse link. if this is what you mean, then sorry, it cannot be replaced. Some mechanics may convince you that it can be replaced, but DO NOT waste your money. Buy a replacement. It costs about N13,000 for the pair (Tokunbo)
Boss!!!

It is the traverse link as shown in your second diagram. Now the problem is where to buy them. My mechanic truly said i have to replace the entire unit but he said it is 20k for the pair.

Hi all,

Is the Lower Control Arm Bushing of a Maxima 2000 SE replaceable?

AutosRe: The Maxima Thread by Wylout: 10:19pm On Feb 11, 2012
Costee:
The main problem with the 6th gen (2004/06) is the tranny valve body. It's only recently that people are coming to terms with that fact, and that explains the many complaints you referred to. Even Nissan issued a  TSB on it only in April last year. However, note that there are two versions of the tranny, namely, the 4speed and the 5speed. The 5speed is the more common and it is the problematic one. The 4speed is free of valve body issues. The 4speed is available on 2004 SL model only. The tranny is the same one used for 5.5 gen. (Maybe Nissan had some leftovers of the 5.5 gens and decided to use it for the SL, the luxury package, of the 6th gen in order to make it more marketable at the time.) So if you must go for a 2004, make sure it's the 4speed tranny type. The gear shift pattern of the 5speed has a Z/2 shape, while that of the 4speed is curly. Yes, the 6.5 gen (2007/08) could also be a safe option. The tranny is CVT and so far no adverse reviews are associated with it. The Infinity G37 is surely a powerful car; but the cash distance between 2004 Max and the G37 is certainly wide. The G37 only came out from 2009.
@ Costee how much do you think a 4speed tranny of a 2004 max would be?

Wait oh!!!! Na my topic dey front page? huh

@ ambyzown---The pic i uploaded was from 'nissparts' of nairaland.
I've read up on the in-dash touchscreen system, the smoky side lights and the halo led lights----but the grilles--i'm not sure how that one will be installed.

Was reading about cold air intake and plenty other things but right now----na only small modding i want do!!! cheesy

@ Ikenna

No worry for that one-----

I read about my car online on most nissan forums.

Was thinking of an upgrade but complaints of the 2003-2006 maximas were just too much. I'll rather do some modifications on my existing one.
Maybe a new paint job, grilles, led halo headlights, in-dash dvd

None of the evils you mentioned was done.
If my mechanic had done that and i came online to see ya post----the guy would have been in big trouble.

Thank you very much-----though your posts are scary!!!

to my little experience on engine, i guess u got to invite a good mechanic & tell him to examine properly the TOP CYLINDER. some time when there is space in between the TOP CYLINDER do resort to over heating( which can be filled ) OR the fan blade might be bad & needs replacement OR the radiator is swollen due to excess of the over heating.
It.s simple to tackle over heating problem when mechanic is specific on all the things i mention above.
AGAIN:
1. TOP CYLINDER IS BENT
2. SWOLLEN RADIATOR
3. FAN BLADE
4. WATER PUMP
5. HORSE
Note:- if ur mechanic tells u that all this are still good then , there might b mixture of oil & water due to the over heating & this might cause a HOLE in ur BLOCK ENGINE if not noticed on time tnx.
@ Onome
The water pump was the cause of my cars fever!!!
However i need to fill my radiator with Total Coolant so it does not have typhoid.

Thank you.

Can i get the total coolant at any total station?
AutosRe: The Maxima Thread by Wylout: 10:01am On Feb 09, 2012
Yes you have been of help.
However, the overheating problem did not get outta hand. Mine was as a result of my water pump.
Thank you very much for your assistance.

I'm thinking of doing an upgrade---to a 2004 maxima but the reviews from carcomplaints.com are really scary.
If i can get a 2007 model at a good price--i won't mind. What do you think? Or do i simply go the way of the infiniti ---g35 or g37s?
Car TalkRe: Help! My Car Is Overheating (Nissan Maxima 2000) by Wylout(op): 9:47am On Feb 09, 2012
Updates

The cause of the overheating was the water pump. The fans(or blades of the pump) were broken. It had only one blade left out of about 3. Probably as a result of rust (not sure though). I think this has to do with the coolant used in filling up the radiator.

have the top cylinder gasket replaced, some nissan models from early 2000s with the have this issue from the factory, original oem gasket was too thin and there are service bulletins to this effect
Is this info for me or for the other guy?

Does this apply to all nissan models?

why are we guessing so much here with only little information to work with? you said you had this issue prior to the flush so i belive you have to tell the genesis of this issue as to how the excessive heating started. what changed before vehicle started heating and all so fault can be traced more efficiently.
@ Micco
I have provided information to the best of my ability. In your own experience will a machine retain its efficiency over time? I use this car everyday and one day i noticed a sudden rise in temperature.
Any ideas now?

the condenser might be the culprit, especially if it has leaked in the past n was patched by blocking some cells, this reduces the cooling area/capacicity of the radiator and thus it will be over heating at will, is ur car fresh toks or naija used?, a thorough inspection of the radiator shud expose this problem
I got it toks==

Radiator inspection --- on the way:

Was tempted to drive the car to work today cos all thru yesterday it did not heat up though the ac was not on

@@@

maybe u should change the thermostart to another o

i understand it goes with mileage

or is it that the condenser is bad that it doesnt allow proper air circulation??
My mileage is over 120k. Does this mean the thermostat is gone?
