It is even better for an aircraft to have been in service for a number of years so any flaws are fixed.

Carmakers have had to recall new brands after faults were discovered. It is unfortunate that airplane faults lead to many deaths if a crash occurs, unlike car crashes that lead to fewer deaths per accident.
