Over the years, the history books about the civil war have blamed Ojukwu for the frightening results of the civil war. A war that sympathizers have termed genocide and needless. But the truth is the grave issues that led us to war are still floating unattended to. Like every other war hero, Ojukwu has enjoyed what could be called a fair/unfair share of blames for the war.

More so, he is perceived as turbulent and ambitious, arrogant, power-hungry, and most of them all too youthful to comprehend the import of the war then.

The decentralisation of the power industry is expected to be completed next year, Minister of Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji, said yesterday.

He also said the present administration has succeeded in adding about 1,300 MW of power to the national grid since inception.

The House of Representative is considering a legislation that will compel the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), International Oil Companies (IOCs) including Chevron and Shell to be listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

The bill would also mandate telecoms firms, such as MTN, Globacom, Airtel, Etisalat, satellite service provider, Multichoice and others to list on the Exchange.

The Nigerian Stock Market tumbled in trading yesterday as the ASI shed 9 points to close at 20,103.22. Dr. Mustapa Chike Obi, Amcon Boss, has urged Nigerians to take positions in the undervalued market now. He stated this at the opening session of the Capital Investors Conference organized by First Bank in Lagos yesterday. He stated that AMCON will also do their best to sustain a recovery by trading the securities they have in their possession as a result of the NPL recovery process, although he did caution for investors to have a long term outlook.

The Non- Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) has called on the Federal Government to name the members of the ‘cartel’ fraudulently benefiting from the money meant for fuel subsidy in Nigeria.

Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) on Tuesday, suspended the production of iron rods from ISPAT Steel Company, in Agbara area, after failing to adhere to quality procedures prescribed by the agency.

Director General, SON, Mr. Joseph Odumodu, issued deadlines for iron rod producing companies to meet with conformity with the requirement of NIS 117 for building materials. The inspection visit, which follows the 60-day ultimatum issued by SON, was carried out unannounced by the Head of a Special Task force set up by the SON director general.

The Senate Adhoc Committee that probed the privatisation of Federal Government’s enterprises has recommendation that the Director-General of the Bureau for Public Enterprise, Ms. Bolanle Onagoruwa, be removed.
