WHAT PRESIDENT TINUBU CAN DO TO IMPROVE THE ECONOMY IN A WAY THAT DIRECTLY BENEFITS CITIZENS 1. Targeted Social Protection — Not General Subsidies, But Direct Relief Expand cash transfer programs for the poorest (e.g., via BVN/NIN-linked bank accounts and mobile wallets). Introduce food vouchers or targeted food subsidies for staples like rice, maize, and cooking gas. Implement transport subsidies for public workers and students. Let reforms continue, but protect the most vulnerable while doing so. 2. Massive Investment in Agriculture & Food Security Provide soft loans, subsidized fertilizer, and irrigation support to farmers. Rebuild local food supply chains damaged by insecurity and poor logistics. Set up strategic grain reserves and community cooperatives to stabilize prices. Nigeria’s inflation is mostly food-driven — this is the fastest way to reduce cost of living. 3. Tackle Insecurity — Especially in Farming and Trade Corridors Rebuild trust in local policing, and deploy community-led security in rural zones. Secure highways and farming belts so goods can move freely without bandits, kidnappers, or extortion. Economic growth means nothing if farmers can’t reach markets or students can’t reach schools. 4. Create Jobs Through Public Works & Local Manufacturing Launch Labour-Intensive Infrastructure Projects (roads, drains, rural electrification). Provide tax incentives for local processing of raw materials (e.g., agro-processing). Revive vocational training centers and link them to MSME grants. Youth unemployment fuels crime and migration — productive jobs must replace political patronage. 5. Fix Power and Transport — Reduce the Cost of Doing Business Prioritize quick wins in off-grid solar energy for communities and SMEs. Invest in rail and inland waterways to reduce cost of goods transport. Break monopolies in fuel distribution and electricity, allowing private competition where possible. Most Nigerian businesses fail due to high energy and transport costs — bring these down, and employment goes up. 6. Tax the Rich Fairly, Not the Poor Aggressively Introduce or enforce taxes on: Luxury goods High-value properties International business earnings Stop increasing VAT and levies on basic services, small traders, and market women. A fair tax system builds trust — and grows revenue without squeezing survival. 7. Prioritize Health & Education Use digital tools to improve accountability in schools and health centers. Expand National Health Insurance for the informal sector. Fund basic education and midwives in rural areas. A healthy, educated population is the true long-term engine of growth. In Summary: Tinubu must shift from austerity-driven governance to citizen-focused development. The reforms he’s started can work only if they’re balanced by compassion and local productivity. Nigeria doesn’t need to reverse reforms — it needs to humanize them. That’s the real leadership challenge: growing the economy from the ground up, not the top down. |
Kemetian:Why do you not like good things? |

APOPTOSIS:That was under PDP but under APC he is a serious disappointment. |
That is okay. You don't need to announce it. |
At least he didn’t resort to using a "miracle center." That’s not to say I support this kind of questionable arrangement, but many people who achieve outstanding results do so through dishonest means, which is equally detrimental to us as a nation. |
How did he make h8s money? The way he made money is the way he will sustain it. |
Thank God for His mercies. |
intelligent young man. Nigerians are truly intelligent with incompetent leaders. God help us. |
