Hi everyone, I'm new here and just stumbled upon this thread, and yes i am an introvert but I am working on it. It can be annoying when people who don't know you assume you're proud or arrogant simply because you keep to yourself.

My parents and their friends started to think I would wither away. So i started to make efforts to work on myself. And I've come a looooooong way.

Back then if a classmate paid me a surprise visit I'd lie and say i wasn't home even when they were standing right in front of my gate. There was a time I had to go out and ran into my old classmates, I legit turned back and went through another street.

And dating wasn't even in my books (how does one date when they're hidden away?) This one was the one that worried my folks the most, along with weight gain. I got really fat i weighed 210 pounds i hadn't dated in 5 years and I was fat! Yeah they were concerned.

It wasn't until I traveled out of the country for my llm that i started to take control of my life. My mom got me a gym membership and I managed to shed 45 pounds which gave my self esteem a huuuuuge boost.

Came back to the country and resumed work as a corporate lawyer. I tell you, having responsibilities will help tackle being an introvert. Traffic helps too in its own frustrating way, trying to avoid traffic made me find after work activities. I go to the movies or visit a restaurant or go see a stage play much to the joy of my parents.

I even have friends now and we have sleepovers in my house. Yes i can now entertain people.
