Untill 2015, the South West and her votes were not needed to make any presidents in Nigeria. You were always in the opposition, and to the opposition you will go back next year. The South West has never had enough numerical strength to power her way to the presidency without the help of the northerners. When the north turns their backs on you, you have always failed.
That was how your Awolowo became the opposition leader in the first Republic. That was how Shagari trounced him again in the 1979 presidential polls. That was how Obasanjo under the PDP, was able to win the presidency without the South West. Ditto Yaradua and Jonathan.
So the situation is not particular to the South East. Stop celebrating. The two southern ethnic majorities are in the same boat on that one. Whosoever alligns rigidly with the north, wins. And Tinubus alliance with the north is as shaky as they come as we speak, so you should be worried..
