Hello fellow Nairalanders, Please I am at a cross road and I will appreciate your candid advice. I intend starting a business and after series of research on the type of business to start, I have narrowed my options down to either a laundry business or a unisex Saloon. The business will be an alternative source of income for me as I am an employee presently and as such, my decision on which one to start will be informed by:

1. The Startup cost.

1. The time and energy required to manage the business and

2. Profitability.

First your decision should properly address the following:
1. Which do u have more passion for?
2. Which is more predominant in ur proposed site?
3. Do you have adequate skills for either of them?
4. What's the demographic cultural pattern/behaviour of your proposed site?
These and many more are questions u must answer with all sincerity before setting the ball rolling.

1.I have more passion for the laundry business
2.The 2 businesses are predominant but not done to the taste that depict class and this is one of the reasons I want either of the 2.
3.I dont have adequate skills for any of them but I have a very close female corp member friend who is a stylist and has promised to help stabilising the Saloon business before the end of her service.
4.The place is in the core north where the Hausa/fulani muslims dominate. But of course, we have a lot of people from down south earning a living here.

I am happy I took the decision to go for the laundry business 2 years ago. Now I stay liquid through the month and do not need to wait till month end before attending to my needs. The business is a lucrative one any time any day and I am happy I came to NL for opinions.

I need to acquire the skill on how to make the local hot water starch popularly called 'ege'. I realized it is a goldmine and can be an additional source of income. Any one with an idea of where and how I can learn should please let me know. In the interim, i can be buying from any one that has it in large quantity.
