prodgal, how/wey u dey? cool

I am happy to hear this. I might be doing something with Joomla very soon and wanted to jump straight into 1.5 (based on my research, it is pretty cool) as I didn't want to spend the time learning 1.0.x only to abandon it probably immediately thereafter.

Unfortunately, as of last week, my web host (hostmonster), said they wouldn't upgrade to 1.5 until it became stable. Hopefully, with this information, I can hopefully entice hostmonster to upgrade now wink otherwise, what web host, that supports 1.5, would you recommend?

By the way, don't ignore the 2nd part of the first sentence in paragraph 1 in your response tongue

Noob Question. Can someone tell me about this joomla and how it can be integrated into a site.
Re: Joomla 1.5 Is Stable by skima(m): 9:38am On Jan 29, 2008
Joomla is a content management system. it allows u to be able to setup website instanta. www.joomla.org to download the source, just unzip to ur directory and lunch in browser the installation is ready. the good news is that you can also develop your own component and intergrate with joomla.

skima,

yep, Joomla is indeed powerful. however, as I tell pple, it has its place. So for example, if you are going to build a site that tops, gets content changed once a month, there is no need to use it. However, if changes are going to be made on a regular basis and at that, by non-technical people, with the right training, Joomla (or whatever CMS tool you want to use) is the best way to go.

Here is an example of what, in my opinion, amounts to CMS abuse:
http://www.cradletrust.com/portal/

Now tell me: How often will this site's content change? Moreover, you can tell the developers did a quasi-job in terms of customization. At the least, I would have expected them to buy a template if they couldn't do one themselves.

You can implement Joomla 1.5 on any PHP webserver. I'm already using it , actually since the beta was released.

Thanks for the info nero, but I knew that tongue

Let me explain where I am coming from (sorry for not doing that earlier):
I am very lazy when it comes to coding. I discovered a long time ago that in coding, I don't have to prove myself to anyone but me. I don't like re-inventing the wheel (if there is a solution out there, I obtain it, study it for my own benefit, understand it, tweak it to fit my needs and deploy it. Why crack my brain when someone else already has? wink) and prefer automatic processes (as in fantastico) to doing things manually. To this end, when I code, I don't even have/use a local dev environment. I create a subfolder on my account, do my coding then once done, move that to my root folder. Why? Again, I am very lazy. Why go through the trouble of installing stuff on my box, as simple as it may be, when someone else has already done it for me?

I know, it's weird but so far, I'm not complaining cool

you and Joomla one man go kill eh friend. Joomla is good, but I advice developers to jump unto drupal www.drupal.org most modularised cms ever, and it makes your development more flexible, and besides it gives you SEO URLs with the default installation, somehting Joomla is not getting right. Drupal is prefered by most geeks, hence you will be in a community where god cms developers exists. I am saying this just to help because I use Joomla and Drupal depending on my client needs, but if you are not an expert start with Joomla then get to drupal later its a must wink

mambe,

I am not a geek, neither am I a nerd, or whatever variation you want to come up with. I am just little old my2cents who seeks to maximize profit with little effort. So I guess I won't be using drupal any time soon grin
