On Friday 19 January 2024, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) announced that the service will be officially launching its revamped e-auction platform on Tuesday 23 January 2024.

BACKGROUND
In year 2017, the NCS commenced use of electronic platforms to conduct its auctions, with the aim of ensuring transparency in the sales of seized goods.

However, the platform was eventually suspended by the NCS due to numerous complaints by prospective bidders of inability to access the platform.


THE NEW AUCTION PORTAL
According to the NCS, this new portal is an upgraded version of the previous one, and is designed to provide Nigerians with equal opportunity to participate in the auctions.

Since its re-launch, the new platform has recorded 1099 registered applicants, 1137 bids, 652 successfully paid admin fees, 100 vehicles uploaded on the window and 86 vehicles bidded and won.
